Centrally located overlooking the beautiful El Sardineiro beach this is an imposing building. There is no street parking available so it is necessary to use their car park which is underground and is reached by a car lift-quite unique but expensive at 17 euros per day. Our room was as requested with a sea view and a large and well appointed shower room. We ate in the cafeteria rather than the restaurant where the food was good. We were offered a 3 course meal with wine and coffee for 22 euros each.

While we enjoyed the hotel and couldn't find fault, its prices are very expensive and we regarded our stay as an expensive "treat". In other words not something to do on regular basis.

Great location just opposite the beach in Plaza D’Italia. Easy access to buses into town, or it’s an approximately 30 minute walk to the city along beautiful promenades. Spotlessly clean. Our room was completely cleaned and tidied while we were having breakfast. The breakfast was very good, good choice of food, constantly replenished, though we thought it a little expensive. Room service was good. There’s a cafeteria joined onto the hotel where you can also get food and drinks.

The hotel does a laundry service, but does not provide a trouser press or iron in the room. As soon as we arrived we had to go to a wedding and my husband couldn’t iron the shirt he had brought to wear which was a little frustrating.

This was a truly stunning hotel, which could have passed for a five star establishment. The hotel is ten minutes from the Santander ferry terminal, but the resort of Sardinero, where the hotel is situated, is a much more attractive area. The Gran Hotel Sardinero, couldn’t be in a better location, directly opposite a Sandy beach. I booked a sea view room and it was superb, with three balconies, one of which faced the sea and another overlooking a beautiful square, which was reminiscent of the French Riviera. The room was huge and was almost like a small apartment. The room number was 212, in case you are lucky enough to stay at this hotel.

There’s nothing to dislike.

Loved the location away from the city centre, but only 10/15 minutes in a taxi from the airport. Right beside the beach. Huge double bed, very comfy. Great high powered shower. City center is about 10 minutes in a taxi, city is very built up, so we enjoyed the hotels location away from the noise. Not many restaurants/cafes but more than enough for a short break. Be prepared to speak a little Spanish, as most of the restaurants do not have English menus. Food and drinks only 5 minutes walk. Supermarket 2 minutes walk away.

Nothing. Great beach walks. Unbelievable clean area. Cheap flights from Dublin.

Room was clean and comfortable. A/C worked very well. Location was spectacular. Personnel were friendly. Safe, covered parking was $17 per day, which is not too bad.

Wi-fi was completely unreliable. It was an open connection that dropped constantly. I was only able to do computer work thanks to a long Ethernet cable the hotel provided after complaining about their terrible wi-fi. For the price of an upscale hotel such as this, not providing secure and stable wi-fi connection is unacceptable.

From the m,oment we set foot, a bit bedraggled from travel and walking too far to the hotel, the staff were really friendly. All processes were quickly dealt with and we were even given an upgrade. It was a really lovely start to our break. For the money the breakfast was the best we have seen for a long time. For 6 euros there was a whole range of delicious hot and cold options. The restaurant had a set menu for 22 euros/person which included a bottle of wine, coffee and three lovely courses on both occasions. When we said we were going to swim on the beach they offered us swimming towels as well. When due to a bit of confusion I challenged something on the bill they were most gracious whilst explaining and clearing up my misunderstanding. Not to mention the most beautiful sea view from the balcony.

Nothing really

Beautiful hotel across the street from the beach. Beautiful large rooms with super a/c and big baths with walk-in shower. I rarely rate a hotel 'exceeded my expectations' but this one did. Also the restaurant on our Wednesday night stay had a 3 course meal including a bottle of wine and coffee and water for 22€ per person. The scallop starter was wonderful as was the hake loin and veal shank mains. The chocolate cake for dessert was great with the end of the bottle of rioja wine then followed by coffees con leche.

nothing

Booked a smart hotel for overnight stay at the end of a long journey on a motorcycle. Although parking was €17 it was worth it to use the Bond - like vehicle lift to the garage! Room was on the top floor, very smart with a terrace. Evening meal at the hotel was excellent value.

Tea & coffee facilities would have been nice especially as it was a relatively expensive room; I’d been in cheaper rooms with a kettle and coffee machine. That was the one rather disappointing thing.

We loved the location of the hotel, the room was good and cleaned with fresh water and toiletries every day, it was quiet at night. The staff were pleasant and the dining room was nice, breakfast was average.

We had dinner one night which seemed good value but it was poor quality food and the wine terrible, I think although the hotel was nice and in a good location it was too expensive.

Wow what an excellent hotel, one we arrived outside the hotel we were very impressed by the location of the hotel, the ocean across the road from the hotel, the outside of the hotel looks very impressive and is a huge hotel, the receptionist was so welcoming and was full of sympathy for us as we were delayed over three hours due to Dublin Airport and the chaos there, the room was very impressive, spacious, with a huge balcony overlooking the grand square and the Ocean. The staff were so friendly and the hotel so clean and spacious, example I can give, we wanted to rent a car and the receptionist went to great lengths to ensure the car was got for us, top class work. I cannot recommend this hotel enough

Having to leave the hotel, it was such a pity we lost nearly half a day from staying in the hotel due to the confusion in Dublin Airport. This was not the fault of the hotel though
