Catalonia Gran Vía Bilbao

This hotel did not disappoint! I had booked it for a girly weekend with friends. The three of us shared a room. The room was quiet and comfortable. There was a complimentary bottle of cava and a fruit plate waiting for us. Luis at reception was kind enough to point out the key areas that we should visit and where were the nice bars and restaurants. The hotel is modern. The room was quiet. There was a kettle and coffee machine which not all hotels have in Europe. The breakfast was really good!! The staff were all lovely. I could park my car in the carpark for €20 a day and the car park was clean and well lit. The hotel is on a main road where a lot of shops are and within easy walking distance from the Guggenheim. I would definitely go back there again. We had a lovely weekend!

The only thing I would say is if you want to use the spa, make sure you book. We ended up going up to the roof top terrace and swimming pool (in October so it was too cold to swim) but we still enjoyed the evening sun on the sun loungers.

Nice hotel with walking distance to everything. Very good breakfast, good beds and very friendly and helpful staff all over the hotel. Outside terrace. Quiet.

The pool and the gym and the balcony could have been a little bit bigger, but nice to have the opportunity.

Excellent hotel, in all respects. Handy to shops, bars restaurants, cafes, supermarket and transport. Beautifully appointed room with very comfortable bed, shower with rainhead and shower spray with excellent water pressure, a comfortable sitting chair, small balcony, good lighting, lots of power and USB ports..a well designed space making for a very comfortable stay. My room (410) looked over the courtyard and was very quiet. Breakfast was excellent with a wide selection of food and drink which could be eaten indoors our outside the breakfast area in a covered courtyard. The staff were helpful and friendly - reception and house staff (chambermaid). A top class hotel...highly recommended.

Lovely and very efficient staff. Generally very comfortable hotel and excellent location - close to the Guggenheim, shops and restaurants and in walking distance to the bus station. Very good breakfast - would recommend and would like to give an 8.5 as 8 is too low!

Pool is extremely small and not possible to swim properly in it. Should be mentioned in the hotel description. Bit mean with the toilet paper! Interior design a little dark/brown - could do with a lift from some art on the walls - perhaps Guggenheim prints? Restaurant - the ribs were fantastic, meat cannelloni not so nice.

We were able to check in early and got an upgrade to a bigger room with a balcony. This was appreciated although the balcony had an obstructed view and we didn't use it anyway. The reception staff are nice and we could borrow an umbrella when we went out in the rain. The location is convenient since it is close to the airport bus stop and you can walk to the old town, restaurants and museums. There is also a park nearby. The room is nicely decorated with black out curtains and the shower is good with toiletries provided.

Wifi was slow for us and the pillows could have been better. The room is not totally sound proof as it can get noisy in the morning if people slam their doors and the cleaners are about.

I rarely designate a full score when grading a performance or an event, but this hotel deserves a straigth 10. In this case the complete experience was above all expectations. Despite the central location in Bilbao we got a room completely without any annoying noise from outside. A hint; try the breakfast menu. You will experience it has to be payed seperately but you get value for the money.

The only diminutive drawback worth to mention was the fitness facility. Only hand weights up to 10 kg were available and the room was too tiny for more than 1-2 peoples simultaneously workout.

nearly everything- the service, the location, the staff, particularly the well thought out lighting in every area. superb attention to architectural detail in every space.

use of the steam room is extra - however— you are assigned the space to yourself so no complaints there- what was the ONLY negative was being talked into the massage. it was not only me. another stranger completed one at the same time and had the same experience. the “massage” package is 50 min of barely rubbing the back with olive oil. only the back of the body. so clearly now what one who has regular massage expects but if you want someone to lightly rub olive on you for 50’minutes, go for it!

Central. Clean and comfortable. Stayed in roof terrace which was nice. Reception were very helpful on how to get to places and recommendations. 20 min walk to old town and 10 min to bus terminal. Great cafes around to get breakfast and bites.

Coffee facilities could be better and water everyday would have been nice. More staff needed in bar area as waited on 2 occasions as staff manning the pool area as well. Advise is if planning Bilbao is dead on Sunday and Mondays. Go Tuesday to Saturday.

Fantastic breakfast selection with so much choice - I could have grazed all day. Location very central and the hotel/rooms were spotlessly clean. The staff were very attentive, although the bar area was under-manned for much of the time which made wait time for drinks very long at times. Otherwise a very pleasant and enjoyable stay.

More staff on the bar. Better service by the pool for drinks. The 'pool' was actually just a small u heated plunge pool and not a 'swimming pool' as advertised.

Welcome from the staff was lovely. They couldn't do enough for us. David and Alex in particular were so helpful on arrival and throughout our stay. Roof top pool area was lovely. Spa was great and ideal to have 1 hour slots so it was nice and quiet. The room was really nice decor, lots of space and the bed was very comfortable. Bathroom and shower in particular was great. The rooms were serviced so well by the maid and immaculate. Bar area very pleasant and modern nice feel to it.

Food options for vegetarian was limited and our friends had evening meal which wasn't great so put us off having a meal there. Must say breakfast cooked to order was excellent though
