Hotel Ilunion Bilbao

Located on the edge of the town, between the main bus terminal and the centre. Good air conditioning, looks nice, very clean. Friendly and helpful front reception.

Cleaning staff were very noisy. They were cleaning the next room and did something that vibrated the wall and actually shook my bed. They also tried to come in twice at 9am when check out is at 12.

Amazing room 1305. Great bathroom and comfortable bed. Fridge worked well as did aircon. Breakfast was more than enough choice. Lolly jar for a late night treat. Cleaning done well every day and complimentary water each day. Plenty of food places around. Great bar across the street with decent menu for a sit down meal (Martxos)

Breakfast whilst good was possibly in need of another staff member, due to a huge guest attendance it was frequently out of cereal spoons, and items being refilled. A note to the reception staff, when not busy, a smile or nod costs nothing when guests are entering or leaving the building.

For the price, you can't beat it. The breakfast buffet!! Oh my goodness, so many options and very delicious. The hotel is close walking distance to the metro that connects you with the rest of the city along with the bus station for easy access in and out as well as to the airport. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The restaurant staff even heated up a meal for us that we had purchased from the grocery store and lent us silverware to use in the room. The room was quiet and clean, perfect for getting excellent rest before heading out exploring.

The bathroom - There was a strange smell in the bathroom that came from the drains. We ended up plugging up everything (sink, tub, bidet) to stop the smell, but sometimes it seeped through anyway. The water pressure was also so intense that it would spray everywhere if you weren't careful, but it looked like there was some construction going on, so that could explain it. The location was a long walk to the main portion of the city, so it was necessary to build in time to either walk the distance or hop on public transportation.

Nice larger than average room for a family of 4 with a double/ king? bed and a sofa bed in what would be the living room. Nicely furnished and on the 5th floor so no noise issues like others have noted (stayed on a Thursday). Location close to the football stadium and Guggenheim and 3 min walk to the airport bus stop which was our main reason for booking. The old town is a pleasant 20-30 minute walk depending on your route. We couldn't check in early but they do have a luggage storage area so we could drop off and head out. Overall a nice hotel which I would use again.

The sofa bed seemed to dip in the middle. It was ok for the night but not sure I could put up with it for longer.

The Location and the room where amazing! Value for money is great! Very easy to arrive from the airport by bus (40 min and 3€ pp) and then 15-ish min walk to the Guggenheim. It's located very close to an area with lots of Bars for pinxos and drinks. If you come with car,.you have parking and you are very close to one of the exits of city, so you escape from all the city centre traffic.

The check-in time is quite late, 14:00. We arrived to Bilbao in a very early flight from Manchester, and it was quite hard to cope till that time. On the bright side, we could left our baggage at the hotel till the check-in.

The room was large, supremely clean and the bed extremely comfortable - but the walls were paper thin and I had two virtually sleepless nights due to inconsiderate guests. One member of staff warrants a particular mention - I don't know her name but she was very friendly and helpful, spoke very good English and even helped me fix my WiFi issue. The breakfasts were top quality.

The soundproofing of the room was non-existent. The member of staff who "processed" my arrival was not warm and friendly, rather cold in fact. The hotel is in a great location for buses and trains but a good distance away from the old quarter, which is where nightlife happens. I don't mind walking but just flagging up the location for future guests.

Very large room with modern bathroom.

It lacks character and feel a bit cold in general. There is no kettle or tea/coffee making facilities.

The beds were super comfortable. The air conditioning unit is modern and it was possible to open the windows which a lot of modern hotels don't allow. The breakfast was optional and we did it a couple of times, it was good value for money. It has a gym with a decent amount of equipment which is all new. I noticed a great focus on sustainability and I welcome this approach a lot.

There's was no kettle in the room and when I asked they didn't have one but I was able most to get hot water in a cup from the bar in the lobby.

The location was great. The room was spacious. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Beds could have been a bit more comfortable.

The hotel is solid. It's part of a large local chain, so service and quality are pretty standard and reliable. The location is amazing.

Restaurant staff were quite rude to us.
