Stunning location with an equally stunning and well equipped spa featuring a huge window looking out on to a Roman ruin, and you don’t get that everywhere. Staff were entirely excellent, booking a velo taxi for me and upgrading my room and generally being fuss-free and super helpful. Wonderful to have a fridge and a washing machine. Comfortable bed! I could go on.

The apartment was still I think quite new from refurbishment, so lacked bedside tables, but really this is a minor quibble. There was one switch for all the bedroom lights; it would have been nice to have independent bedside and general light switches. I suspect lamps may come with the tables. The stairwell lights might be better with timer switches as the person in the other apartment kept leaving them on. Doubtless these are already on a snagging list, as this is a place that cares about details.

Very clean, wonderful room for family of four. gorgeous view of coliseum. Staff serving breakfast was cheerful and kind. Parking deck nearby was inexpensive while close parking right outside hotel was 40 € per day.

The only real issue is that property was on very high ground and my husband is slightly disabled so if you have any trouble walking it might be best to stay a bit lower elevation.

We arrived early and all the staff were super - the receptionist took our luggage and then proceeded to show us a map of the area, pointing out places of interest. We took lunch at the accommodation in a lovely garden courtyard, food was great. The receptionist also asked where we had parked and then gave us a discounted carparking ticket. We were able to pay for parking at the accommodation which made leaving the car park easy. When we arrived back at the accommodation, our luggage had been taken to our room and the staff escorted us to ensure we were happy and point out wifi. The room was the best, great size with a balcony overlooking the roman ruins. We decided to have breakfast at the accommodation, again served in the garden and was a good choice. The location was perfect, everything was a short distance to walk. When we checked out, we were able to leave our luggage at reception whilst we finished our exploring. We would definitely stay here again.

Nothing!

Everything went professionally well. Cecile gave me an accessible room, right off the courtyard, no steps, with my own little sitting area. Service: Impeccable in 4 languages at all positions in the hotel Facilities: I've already spoken about the A/C'd room. The Spa was such a wonderful relief, where guests met and relaxed. The hotel is next to the Amphitheatre, so even walk-challenged folks can see it. A lovely restaurant for fine, veggie friendly cuisine was right around the corner and another across the street for Crepes, and many others close by. The lobby bar had everything you could want plus some simple lunch items. Breakfast was plentiful and very good. The gardens were beautiful and well maintained. This is the place to stay in Arles as far as I'm concerned.

Nothing is perfect, so it would have been even better had there been more chairs and tables outside for the evening sun and aperos. Beyond that, the hotel and its staff are a delight.

Friendly, helpful staff who seemed to take pride in working there. They remembered my room number unprompted for breakfast (which is highly recommended ) and drinks to charge to the room. The location was unbeatable, space was unique (not cookie cutter hotel). They had a small kid play area with some toys (nothing impressive but that they have it made our young kids feel welcome instead of a burden). The price and value were great.

Parking was in a public lot that is more than just a few steps away that required going up some stairs and down some cobblestone. It's not big deal if you have a backpack but with kids and a roller bag, it was slightly inconvenient. The parking was not a surprise, perfectly reasonable given the hotel's fantastic central location (making building an unsightly parking garage 200 m closer a terrible idea) and would not change my high regard for the hotel. But something to know if you're used to parking in a hotel lot and taking a direct elevator up.

The room was spacious, lovely floors and window coverings. Had old world charm but was updated. Very private outdoor entrance. Room backed right up to the coliseum and had a great view. Location was a very short walk to all the main historic sites. Lovely restaurants and bakeries. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Lovely cafe for a pre-dinner drink and lunch or snack.

Only tricky part was finding the location while driving. Can drive up to the property (must phone at the gate restriction) and deposit bags. Parking is downhill about 5 minutes away.

Lovely, affordable hotel, in excellent location. Spa was an added bonus, although it's not "hot" by US standards, 90 degrees F, but there is a steam sauna if you want to get hot. But it has an amazing view of the arena, just across the street so feels very charming. They have an inner courtyard that wasn't set up for the season when I was there, but I'm sure is beautiful when it is. Great cafe downstairs, inside outside seatin, perfect for snacks, breakfast, or an afternoon drink. Definitely recommend!

We did not use the spa but there was one available. What we really liked was the central location, the restful and beautiful environment, the spotless room and the warm welcome by the professional staff. I also liked that, given the location (historic centre) there are no parking facilities, however they have an arrangement with a nearby carpark so that the car was secure overnight and we had a reduced rate. We also liked the fact that the hotel provides light salads and sandwiches, which we particularly enjoyed, throughout the day and the evening.

Our decision to only stay one night :(

Staff were initially a little reserved but warmed up the next day. Location is fabulous. Price is very affordable. Recommended by Rick Steves and lived up to that high bar,

Choice of bar snacks was a bit limited. It's obviously grown over the years and it's a bit up and down to access rooms. Our rooms had to be accessed at the rear of the building but no real issue, No elevator but the staff carried out bags to the room.

Le Calendal is perfectly located in the charming, ancient part of Arles, across from two major Roman ruins and in close walking distance to Luma Art Foundation, the Fondation Van Gogh and other museums as well as lovely boutiques and cafes. The hotel is spare in room furniture, and the rooms are small. But the bathrooms are spotless, the a/c excellent, and the bedding comfortable. We especially liked the interior courtyard and front cafes for drinks and meals.

Stairs to rooms are narrow if you have a large suitcase.
