Grand Hôtel du Midi Montpellier - Opéra Comédie

We stayed for just one night due to a cancelled flight and I wish we had stayed for our entire holiday. The hotel was exceptional. Our room was plush, large, comfortable and the hotel in general was so so beautiful. There was work going on in the square but the glazing was so great that you couldn't hear it at all. The staff were very patient as I butchered the French language and quick to help with their English (sorry). The breakfast had everything you would need to set you up for that day and we liked the fact you could just help yourself. We would go back to this Hotel in a heart beat. Don't hesitate to book!

Everything was fantastic

we booked a room with terrace and place de comedie view, room 101! the room was great with a huge circular bath in the bedroom, plus a generous shower and en-suite bathroom. the breakfast was good and priced on a par with what you’d find outside (and there’s lots!)..The hotel provided bottled water in the room for free on two of our three nights which was great.

the terrace was really just a balcony so bear that in mind. also it was plagued by the local pigeons who crapped all over the chairs and table within a few hours of the hotel room cleaner sanitising them each day, effectively making the balcony useless for relaxing on. the hotel has a bar but it never opened, despite us being there on Fri,Sat,Sun nights, which was a disappointment and a lost opportunity for them.

- location is just next to the place de la comédie - quiet - the receptionist who helped to carry up my luggage (as the hotel lift was spoilt) - staff generally courteous - the cleaning staff was polite, efficient and non-intrusive - the waitresses at the breakfast lounge were helpful

- the breakfast spread was rather limited - the lift was spoilt (have to lug the luggage down by myself, well, i guess it was a chance to strengthen my arm muscles :-))

The hotel was very easy to get to from the station and perfectly located in a quiet street just off the main square. We arrived a little early but were kindly allowed to check in by the lovely receptionist. The hotels public space has a grand feel about it when you enter although the rooms are very modern and comfortable. Our room was not huge but ideal for a short city break, a comfortable bed,a little fridge to keep our drinks cold, good WiFi and very clean. The staff were all lovely and we couldn't fault a thing.We would definitively stay here again.

- bathroom was a bit small with almost no space to put your stuff, but that was a minor issue

Our visit in Montpellier was great. We have chosen "Grand Hôtel du Midi Montpellier - Opéra Comédie and we were very surprised. It is located in the heart of the city as well as about 800 meters from the train station (what is very convenient when traveling with the trains) room was not large, but very cozy, modern with large vindows where we allowed to enjoy beautiful and sunny days. Also in the evening, we were able to sit at the opened windows, drinking champagne and enjoy wonderful evenings views.

There was nothing we didn't like❤️

The location was excellent, just off the main square and opposite the opera house. The tram stop was just across the road. Our room was spacious and bright with 2 large French windows and balconies, one fronting the street and one overlooking the pretty courtyard of the Theatre Brasserie. The bathroom looked brand new and was exceptionally clean, well lit and spacious. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We arrived late evening and they offered to book us into the brasserie next door, after asking what type of food we would prefer. As a result, although tired after a long day travelling, we enjoyed a really good meal in an excellent restaurant with a great atmosphere and service.

The breakfast was very nice, the service was very pleasant. A very cute Gypsy girl manned the restaurant and was very sweet and helpful. The hotel was really cool, had a great feel to it, and of course a great location. I was very happy with the hotel, but a little disappointed in our room. Seemed like there were many other better rooms and we had the worst of the choices.

The rooms. I looked at many other rooms - stuck my head inside the open doors when the maids were cleaning, and we seemed to have received the lesser selections. Even so, I loved staying at your hotel and very much hope to return ( and have a nicer room!).

Hotel is in the perfect location beside all the lovely little streets and laneways. Room was comfortable. Breakfast was prefect.

We stayed in room 112 so there was no wifi. The staff did try to sort it out but without any luck. There was a restaurant underneath us so it was noisy in the late evening

Charming hotel in an excellent location. Close to parking and a discount rate is available for 48 hours or more. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. This will be the first place we look when we return to Montpellier.

I have no complaints, but I would suggest that American travelers be aware that this is an old, European hotel, and set your expectations accordingly.
