Domaine de Biar

The hotel was amazing, the location was amazing, and the staff were amazing. Everything about this hotel exceeded our expectations. The pool was beautiful and the we loved the fact we were surrounded by horses! The food was really well presented and tasty and the rooms were very comfortable. We had an issue with the air conditioner in our room so got a free upgrade to a suite at the end of the stay to make up for it, really appreciated.

Maybe more variety in the menu, but they do say its fixed for the month based on local availability as everything is local. Maybe some snacks in the honesty bar? And maybe a communal fridge so we can store things in there overnight?

If I could give this hotel a rating of 20, I would - 10 is not enough. What an utterly magical and beautiful hotel! We could not have had a nicer stay - Domain de Biar exceeded all expectations (and our expectations were high!), from the kind, helpful and attentive staff to the beautiful facilities to the gorgeous room. We stayed in one of the newest suites, and it was not only a gorgeous space, but also so very comfortable, with no detail spared for comfort and aesthetics. The entire hotel was spotlessly clean, and it was a pleasure to be in our suite as well as in the restaurant, given the attractive decor, airy environment and comfortable spaces. The breakfast was delicious, and we had a wonderful dinner there our first night. The second night we had an amazing and memorable meal at a restaurant recommended by the hotel staff, for which we were very grateful. I haven't even mentioned the pool or the grounds yet - both afternoons we spent lounging by the lovely pool, which has everything you need, right down to an honor bar with delicious beers and beverages. Again, spotless, comfortable and so peaceful! The grounds are also gorgeous, there are of course many horses in the various areas, but there are also some lovely goats you can visit! I cannot wait to return here - Montpellier is such a beautiful city, and Domain de Biar made our time there even more enjoyable than we had imagined it would be!

The property is a 12th Century chateau and is absolutely beautiful. We loved our room! the service was wonderful and we do recommend the breakfast here. The restaurant is great too. We also loved the eco friendly and organic produce focus of the entire hotel. You can find horses and chickens on the property as well!

the only downside is that this property is far from town with very limited public transportation options. Uber services also didn’t want to come to pick us up from the hotel, so you have to rely on a taxi/chauffeur which is not cheap at all. We couldn’t hire a car due to the France fuel strikes but we would recommend a car if you plan on staying here!

I have never had such a welcome from the staff at any hotel. We felt like treasured guests. We arrived early to drop off our bags before exploring Montpellier and were offered a drink on the terrace while Sandra explained the best place to park our car and helped us expand our itinerary. We were upgraded and our room was even more lovely. I enjoyed the hamam then we were able to enjoy a horse spectacle courtesy of the seminar that was happening. dinner was very good and breakfast next morning outstanding.

the bathroom mirror was a tad too high for me.

We found a new favourite hotel and restaurant. We stayed in the suite and it was magnificent. The eye for detail is great, with special touches everywhere. You can really see that a lot of love and attention was put into creating this memorable place to stay. Loved the breakfast and massages as well. Perfect place to spoil yourself and your loved one(s) We´ll surely be back, if only for the enthusiastic and very kind Manon at the reception.

We were travelling with our two little doggies. The hotel was in a perfect location, with plenty of space for us and the doggies to exercise. The hotel was spotless, the staff incredibly friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. The food in the restaurant was of an incredible standard without being pretentious. Everything, every single thing about this hotel was absolutely up there with the best we've ever stayed in. We will most definitely return.

Great location for visiting the city combined with some relaxation. Middle of green, close by the city.Excellent restaurant/focussing. Old charm greatly updated/ warm welcome.

Room was atypical. Bathroom was 100% integrated with the bedroom. The upside is more light during the day and more space, the downside is that you disturb your partner when lights needs switching on at night. Detail: bath mirror mounted so high my partner could not see her face.Solution: book another room. The idea was also to leave our car safely parked and get to the city via other means. Turns out taxis refuse to come out ( charging 40 euro one way), and we were afraid the available expensive bikes would be stolen.So we went by car anyhow, which turned out fine, despite tiny parking bays in public parking. A shuttle should be part of the offering.

Domine De Biar is an amazing oasis a short drive from Montpellier centre surrounded by old trees and horse filled paddocks. The breakfast is in the beautiful dining room of this old converted building. The food is top drawer. Service leaves nothing to be desired. The room was clean, light and spacious and every detail was attended to.

The fact we had to leave after only 3 nights was the only down side to staying in such a wonderful place. We felt emotional having to leave.

Very impressed with this hotel and the location and the staff. Particular mention should go to Manon who was extremely helpful on Reception.

The food was of excellent quality and in that regard no complaints. However, I think it would be good to have more choice for lunch and to include some smaller or simpler dishes for a lighter and quicker lunch.

The grounds of this domaine is beautiful and we loved seeing the gentle sweet horses. The breakfast was amazing pastries and the eggs perfectly cooked. Newly renovated rooms in a heritage building. Pet-friendly place as well. Deluxe suite had a great view of the greenery and the horses. Plenty of free parking on-site. Carefully designed and lots of eco-friendly implementations.

The bed was sinking in and too soft for our liking.
