Amazing pool & views just like in photos, the room with balcony was exceptional - full kitchen and 2 bedrooms and a balcony, very clean rooms with amazing housekeeping services, the staff was exceptional in helping with anything literally very boutique experience, basic breakfast options to choose but good, full value for money!! Just remember this place is once a huge home which is converted into a cute hotel so if you looking for hotel like experiences with a lot of staff and buzz you are in wrong place but if you like personalized experience and want to feel like home with exceptional service this is it! It is in away from central city and quiet - a place to relax and unwind.

No in house restaurant or food available only water and beer available for purchase but staff helped us by recommending some restaurants close by and uber eats deliveries were available to the location.

Our first stay in Costa Rica, we traveled as a couple (no kids) during the low season. (may) The place is awesome, clean, homely, beautiful views, nice pool, fantastic breakfast. We are not the easiest people to please I think & we really had a nice stay! The manager was formal tough very sympathetic! A bit outside the center, which is a great location for a fantastic view over the city while having your breakfast or having a swim. Breakfast was very tasty made a la minute in the kitchen with a lot of different (vegan) options! I don't think there is dinner but you can order from Uber Eats without any issue. I also loved the interior, it gave me a movie-type kind of vibe and I took a lot of pictures of it. :-) They also have quite a few lovely cats on the premises, as you find them sleeping around. There is a beautiful intimate garden behind the pool with a bush of some kind of berries, very tasty! :-)

On one night there were some locals passing by and shouting or yelling I'm not sure what that was, woke me up but it passed quickly.

A really nice posada with great atmosphere and the location was perfect for us. We stayed 1 night and came back for another 2 nights. During both occasions we enjoyed our stay. The staff was really friendly, accommodated all our requests. The pool has an excellent view of the city and there is also plenty of places to relax either inside in the living room or outside in the garden. There is a piano for the guests to play and the other table games. The hotel has a dog and some cats but all pets are really friendly. The rooms are spacious and there is a variety of choice for breakfast. The posada is located in the best part of San Jose close to embassies and luxury condos for expats.

Very clean and comfortable room, the staff were very welcoming and helpful with lots of our questions about the area and recommended places for us to visit. We really enjoyed staying here! The only thing I'd like in a place like this is the option of some snacks or light meals during the day. Oh and some strong fresh coffee 😉☕️

This has to be one of the best places to stay in the greater San Jose area. As a matter of fact, skip the city center and stay here instead! The surrounding area is great and safe. There are excellent restaurant options a short drive away. The property itself is GORGEOUS. An amazing variety for breakfast. Rooms are charming. Pool has an outstanding view. Staff is exceptional. Seriously, this property has it all.

Parking can be a little tight, but I was honestly just so thankful to have something secure (and free) during my stay.

Posada El Quijote is the place to stay in San Jose if you are trying to find a place where you can relax and feel like you are out of the hustle and bustle of the city, but not too far from the city centre either. This little place is a gem not to be missed if you are getting off your plane to then get to the nice places that Costa Rica has to offer. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

My only suggestion is that they should have a choice of tortillas in addition to the bread for breakfast in the morning. This would be perfect for eating the delicious gallo pinto.

This hotel is a quiet little garden paradise hidden away in the city. The breakfasts are amazing and there are several restaurants within a mile walking distance. Our room had a refrigerator and microwave and takeout menus from local restaurants were available to view to call for delivery. The staff was outstanding--so friendly and helpful. The property is fully feced and gated and we were given a key to the walk-thru gate so we could return at any time without bothering the staff. Reception was staffed 24 hours a day so people could check in and out easily. The pool was nice and the views were city and garden as the hotel is located up on a hillside. The air conditioning worked well and was specific to each room so you could control the temperature.

The property is a historic property ad some of the door locks were sticky or difficult.

- Friendly staff willing to help. - Views to the city were amazing. - Calm and relaxed, at-home feeling. - Easy connection to the city via taxi or uber

- We had a spider on the roof and cockroach inside one of the drawers that was not very pleasant but staff helped us. - We'd suggest to change the white lights for warmer ones it will make the room cosier.

Quiet, safe, and beautiful location, lovely building, beautifully decorated. This hotel was designed to emulate a cozy home, and you definitely feel at home when you stay there. Adorable cats and a dog create a warm home-like atmosphere. A pool with a wonderful view of the city and sunset. Delicious breakfasts. All of the staff were so so lovely and helpful, nothing was a bother to them. We've decided to stay in this hotel every time we come to San Jose. Thank you so much for welcoming us!

We loved everything!

Posada El Quijote was such a little peaceful oasis in San Jose. I stayed here the night I arrived, in the middle of my trip in transit through San Jose, and also the last night before I flew out. Each time I arrived I felt like I'd come home. Everything is lovely - the people, the atmosphere, the beautiful pool and view, the rooms, and the breakfast. It's definitely worth getting a superior room, they are beautiful with little balconies and wonderful views. They also have the sweetest cats around. I will definitely be coming back here and would recommend to anyone coming to San Jose!
