The staff were very welcoming and approachable with any issues. The location itself is not bad, we needed somewhere near to our car rental place so it suited us but the park is close by and is very good for a stroll. The beds were fine, nothing special but we slept fine. Breakfast was okay too, not a massive amount of options but fresh eggs cooking to your liking was great.

The hotel itself is quite dated as well as the rooms. The standard of cleanliness could be improved also, especially in the gym.

The breakfast buffet was the best I've ever had. Great options and the hours were amazing. Room and bathroom were clean.

One of the hotel staff was pushy and is eagerness to assist soon became annoying. He was offering his own services instead of just answering questions about how to get around town. Lunch and dinner options were overpriced in comparison to what was available out in town. The floors of my room were in disrepair. One night there was a cacophony of noise until 2:30am. Possibly coming from the casino which was down the hall from my room.

Common areas are good, rooms were spacious (but need some renovation), breakfast did not have many options but would vary everyday and the things that were offered were tasty. Staff is increadibly kind.

Rooms were a little bit old, when we arrived there was a strong humidity smell. Room key kept losing its code and needed to be reset almost every day.

Clean and spacious rooms with everything you need. We stayed here after arriving in San Jose via SJO airport and used the shuttle which was a good price and was waiting for us on arrival which was great. We’d had issues with our arrival due to flight delays and the staff were very helpful and quick to respond.

Ok location for purpose of our visit but quite far from main city centre if you were planning to walk.

My husband, five grandkids and I stayed recently in the master suite. We had a second smaller room next door for the teenage boys. The master suite has large rooms and living spaces, a full size refrigerator and microwave. It was very clean and comfortable. The second, regular hotel room was small but suitable. The staff was amazing! I can't rate this hotel highly enough. The only con would be that it's not really walking distance to the center city, but there is a bus close by (maybe 5 min walk) that drops you off by the National Theater, which is in the heart of downtown. It's the last stop. It costs 280 colones (less than 50 cents) each way. If you want a clean, convenient hotel, free buffet breakfast each morning, free welcome drinks, with restaurant and bar onsite (it even has an inconspicuous casino), then this is the place to book.

Nice location for staying for 2-3 days in San Jose. We walked to the city which did not take as longer than 40 min. The hotel was nice and clean. The breakfast was really good and had some local fruits and the wellbeing rice with beans. The gym was sufficient with some cardio machines as well as weights.

Our go-to hotel in San Jose. Staff extremely attentive and pleasant. Rooms always comfortable, with beds particularly comfortable.

A small item, - but important to us. Would be so nice if breakfasts could include a few Gluten Free items such as bread/bread rolls or breakfast cereal. 90 % of hotels we visit have GF items available...

This is our go-to hotel when visiting San Jose. Breakfasts excellent - and lots of options. No Gluten Free allowance though. Staff always courteous and ready to assist with questions. Special shout-out to their long time concierge who is one of the best!

The bed was huge and comfortable, the breakfast was really good with several options. Very complete. The staff was super kind. In last day we had to leave very early and they prepared us a breakfast box to go.

The hotel needs renovation. The parking is just a few spots outside of the hotel so you need to be lucky. We didnt love the location but its not that bad. Overall it is a good hotel but overpriced like all hotels in Costa Rica.

Palma Real offered a comfortable one night stay. Good value for money with friendly staff and excellent buffet breakfast. Our room was more spacious than expected with a good sized bathroom.

Rooms may need an update or a deep clean at some point but comfortable stay nonetheless.
