I knew before we arrived that I needed to get a pass to access the car park, so I parked in the loading bay out the front and went into reception. I was checked in and issued the door keys, which also work on the carpark gates. From reading previous reviews, I knew the underground parking garage had a 90 degree turn to get into it. I was driving a Jeep Compass, and although tight, I was able to successful enter and exit the parking garage – however, from the amount of visible paint ‘scrappage’ on the walls, it was evident others had not been able to. The higher level outside parking garage had larger spaces, but both levels were secure. We had a very large open plan room combining lounge, TV, desk, dining table and full kitchen. There was a patio door from the lounge area. The bedroom was very spacious with a large and comfortable bed, plenty of storage including bed-side tables. There was a balcony from the bedroom, which had 2 chairs on. The bathroom had plenty of space and towels. We had a bath with a shower over and the sink was within the bathroom. The laundry room had 2 washing machines and 2 dryers. Both were $2 per cycle and were very spacious. I only actually needed to run one wash cycle and one dry cycle. Reception were able to change a $10 note for coins. The hotel was still enforcing Covid-19 restrictions, and it was mandatory to wear a face mask in the lobby, elevator and communal areas like the laundry room. Also Covid-19 related, the breakfast policy had been changed. As we had full itineraries, we couldn’t wait for an undetermined time to collect a hot breakfast. We completed and handed in the breakfast form the day before, then collected the bag at the requested time the following morning. I can’t remember everything but the cold choices included bagel, croissant, yogurt, butter, jam, peanut butter, an apple or orange and bottles of fruit juice choices. While this wasn’t ideal, we didn’t go hungry !

The breakfast situation could be better, but we understand and support the decision made by the hotel to maintain Covid-19 restrictions in order to keep people safe. This would not put us off from staying her again on a return trip.

Excellent bed, fantastic staff, lots of room in the room, excellently supplied kitchen, and loved the essentials. You could get out of the lobby rather than bother any staff.

The parking garage was very difficult to pull out of because the ramp turn was so sharp, the air conditioning unit in the living room was quite weird and loud… For a Hotel at this price range, central air should be standard, and it should be quiet. Also, the shower could be much more forceful and better water volume.

The staff who were lovely. My harbour air flight was cancelled and although they were pretty full I was told to come straight back and got my same room for an extra night. The location which is great for walking into town or down to the harbour. Also a few mins walk to some great places to eat on Davie St. Look beyond the fact that it's a bit dated and needs some TLC. After the awful experience of covid it's going to take a while for many places to catch up. Instead appreciate a clean and comfortable place to stay. In a great location with lovely staff.

The way you have to order breakfast. I can understand why it's done the way it is. However the great facilities in the room make it simple to do your own.

The guest laundry, the generous rooms, the location and the sense of humour of the staff all contributed to a delightful stay in Vancouver enjoying the feel and restaurants of the Davies street area. Superb robe and lovely towels added to a relaxed stay at this venue.

Breakfast. I have never known a system which causes so much pain for so many, ( guests and staff) and delivers so little. I suggest continental breakfast in the rooms replenished daily, simpler and the outcome would be far superior, you may have already tried this, so apologies! However the current system fails on most measures, quality, quantity, timeliness, ease of delivery, just saying!

I stayed at the YWCA before switching to Sunset Inn and the difference was stark! The hotel feels safe in general, and my room was so quiet it felt secluded. Everything was super clean, the amenities including the kitchen was great and the staff were very friendly and helpful! The neighborhood was nice and safe as well, and close to the main Davies street. I loved it and would definitely stay again!

The order-in breakfast options were the same, so you couldn't order a different menu, unless you stayed for the general open breakfast which I heard can take a while due to the queue.

staff was very nice. room was clean. Location is good for visiting downtown Vancouver. They don’t have a common space for breakfast but you can what you want at your room. breakfast choice was quite wide and you can get a version for take away if you need to leave the hotel early. at the time we went they had a mask policy within the hotel common spaces, for covid reason, in case you didn’t have they provide one which was a nice detail. We had 3 cars for two suits rooms. The hotel policy includes one car per room but they didn’t charge us for the additional car. They also let us keep the car in the parking outside the check-out time without paying extra. This was a very nice touch as it allowed us to visit the city during our check-out day without worrying on finding a new parking spot (which is challenging in Vancouver)

Because I was in Vancouver with an ill family member (medi-vac’d to St.Paul’s Hospital) I needed something close by the hospital, but quiet enough that I could sleep and de-stress. EVERY staff person I dealt with at this hotel has been friendly, courteous, and so very helpful. Their “to go” breakfast bags have been a godsend. I wish I had known about this hotel sooner! The view is amazing and it is just a very short walk to the waterfront with the beaches and sea wall. Less than five minute walk to Davie Street Village or the Hospital. Stayed in two different rooms and both had really good kitchenettes.

The reason for being here. Honestly, I can’t think of anything needing to be fixed in terms of making the stay nicer.

Rooms are suites. so much space and storage. spotless, generous AC and fans. great shower, massive comfortable bed, TV in room and living area. amazing facilities. staff are very pleasant.

the breakfast is a bit of a palaver. there is no breakfast room - to maintain covid compliancy. if you want hot food you have to order on the morning and wait to be called to collect it. food could be ready in 10 minutes or in 1 hour so a bit unpredictable. you can order a continental type breakfast the night before that will be guaranteed ready early the next morning. however suites have cooling facilities if you want to manage your own breakfast. AC unit jn room is noisy - bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.

An excellent room. Top floor corner suite meant views of mountains and towards English Bay. Very spacious suite, good kitchen and excellent location. Very quiet. No sounds from within the hotel at all and not much outside as we were relatively high up. Excellent to have free and secure car parking. Bonus to include breakfast.

First stayed here 30 years ago and it's possible some of the decor hasn't changed but overall we love the place and would return. (Hopefully the breakfast self service will be back to normal by then!)

The rooms are actually one bedroom apartments with equipped kitchen. Very clean and well maintained on a quiet side street one block from restaurants, shops, etc. Breakfast was included- either bagged continental at earlier times or hot breakfast later. The staff we met were great! There is a laundry room available and terry robes in the room. All very comfortable. The beach and False Creek ferry is about a 10 minute walk away. Masking is mandatory in the common areas which I appreciated.

I couldn't find anything to criticize.
