Best Western Plus Sands

We loved the location of the hotel as well as the amenities provided. All the staff were so friendly and were ready to provide suggestions whether it was something to do or somewhere to eat. (Special thank you to Ricky, we appreciated your hospitality, suggestions, and your hellos and chats every morning :) ). Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed to be able to enjoy our stay (coffee and tea, microwave, fridge, toiletries, etc). We frequented the restaurant downstairs and were impressed with the consistent quality of the food whether it was for breakfast or room service. The beach is just a minute away and we had a great view of it from our room. There are a few bus stops right out front to take you to all the popular tourists spots, and it is within walking distance of Stanley Park. The bed and pillows were so comfortable and we slept great each night. We really enjoyed our stay here and I think we now have the perfect hotel to suggest to friends visiting Vancouver!

We found the bathroom in our room small, but that isn't really anyones fault and us being nitpicky, lol.

Location was great to beaches, Stanley Park, good restaurants. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Beaches were crowded every night but not noisy, which was nice since the hotel is one block away.

Was a little hard to regulate the temperature in the room. Had to have it running 24/7 to be comfortable. The bar pub had good food, however, the lounge bar was a dive. Furniture falling apart, the place looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. Was concerned about the condition of the kitchen, but then saw the menu and it was basically identical to the pub menu so assuming they share the same kitchen. Had a quick drink and left.

I love the friendliness of the staff. They were all so helpful. The balcony in our room was cool and nice. The club that's next to the hotel was very convenient and had some good food. The service was just okay. The sunsets are incredible from this location!

I didn't like the bleeding of noise coming from the rooms next to us. The hotel is outdated and needs some much desired upgrades including the A/C units in the rooms and the furniture. They don't offer any bottled water in the rooms. You have to bring your own water bottle and fill it up in lobby.

Room was recently renovated and very clean. Because our room wasn't ready when we arrived we were given a room for disabled guests, which made us wonder if a disabled person could not be accommodated. Staff were efficient and accommodating.

The lobby was exceptionally small. Perhaps the outdoor lounge could be incorporated to create a more welcoming space with seating. It was obviously an older place and the signage and overall exterior begs for an update/uplift. The parking lot was a little seedy looking. Staff need to prepare a list of local restaurants (there are many excellent ones nearby--not McDonalds and Denny's, suggested by front desk staff!. We were not inspired to try the onsite option. It just didn't look very inviting. Finally, we noticed that, for either fully abled or disabled persons there were not enough hooks to hang clothes and wet towels. There were two small lower hooks., insufficient for a double room.

Room with balcony had a good view. Not too noisy even though it faced the street. Very convenient location - good both for walking and transport connections. The neighbourhood is easy to navigate and there are a lot of good food options nearby. Appreciate as well that they provide F&B vouchers if you forego the daily housekeeping.

The breakfast venue is also a pub, and while i was there they were screening FIFA World Cup matches, which meant some noisy cheering fellow patrons while i was trying to enjoy a quiet breakfast. But this is just a minor thing and is very much up to the individual.

This location is so nice. It's so close to the beach, beautiful for walks. Denham Street is really enjoyable to walk through and has lots of neat little restaurants for food options. We had a suite which was SO spacious. The bathtub was amazing!

I expected an oven or small bench top oven and some more supplies in the kitchen. We took all our own food which is our preference and were limited with cooking options and bowls and knives and containers. The fridge was just a small bar fridge with no freezer so some of the food I took went to waste. With the nice kitchen it had those items I feel should be expected.

The best location - Stanley Park, the sea wall, walking distance to the mini ferries to Granville Island… and proximity to both Denman and Davie a village with loads of eating options.

While we appreciated the restaurant vouchers in exchange for room cleaning, the breakfast options were disappointing- the sports bar atmosphere is dingy in the morning, there are very few healthy options, and in a city famed for its coffee culture, the restaurant needs to up its coffee game. The air quality in the rooms needs improvement- with the window closed it’s very stale and stuffy.

We came for the Elton John concert and stayed two nights. It was a very clean hotel, and the staff were accommodating. It’s right near the Sea Wall so the walk to catch the Granville Island ferry was nice. Cactus club is just down the hill and was a nice place to eat with views from the Sea Wall. There were cool little shops right across the street from the hotel, and the bus stop too. It’s right on Davies St., so everything is within walking distance.

When I got the bill for our breakfast in the pub downstairs, a charge for “service” was automatically included in the total of our bill (assuming that was the “tip” at 20%). If I feel like tipping our server, it should be based on their service, not automatically included. Where’s the incentive???? Very much disagree with this.

Location location locatio, excellent breakfast and bar. Staff was really friendly and helpful. We were debating between downtown 4 star and this hotel and so glad we chose BW ...2 min from beach and Stanley Park... really happy with stay and location . Breakfast was one of the best we ever had served in Hotel bar that is also 5 star with all the events going on. You will not be disappointed

Room price was way to high but I guess that July high season

Lady on reception (didn't get her name, had short dark bobbed hair) made us feel very welcome. We arrived at 9am & she said our cases could go in the hold and our rooms would be ready at 12. I was feeling unwell & asked if I could go in my room early. She kindly agreed to call me when the room was ready. She called me at 11am. So very kind of her as I went straight to bed and slept all day! Our room was very spacious and had everything we needed.

Air con machine was quite noisy.
