Travelodge by Wyndham Parksville

Our rooms were good, one seemed a little better than the other but they were clean and comfortable. I think the building is undergoing repair and redecorating as some parts of the building were a bit dirty. Nice and quiet in our rooms and good air-conditioning. The breakfast and the breakfast area was good and enjoyed by us all, including the hot, still in the shell boiled eggs! Not the usual cold rubberised eggs that are normally served in motels! 😊

As mentioned above, the public area of the hotel and some of the furnishings needed to be replaced. I didn't go into the pool but my kids said it was a bit dated but still enjoyable.

The breakfast was easy to use. Enjoyed having waffles. A can of instant whipping cream would have been an easy extra bonus for that dish. Oddly, I really enjoyed the 3 foot pool for doing power walking in the water. Really good for helping my leg recovery for exercise. Always a quiet stay in Parksville compared to daily city life.

This time the staff was rather unfriendly. We did nothing to invoke an unfriendly attitude. Many of the staff always appeared to be stressed. Perhaps that is because of the understaffing. Which we found at all the accommodation facilities on Vancouver Island that we visited. Plus many of the restaurants have the same challenge with being short staffed. Still the receptionist and others working there did not have the courteous attitude usually found in these accommodation facilities. Not really unfriendly. It was something my party of 3 all commented on... Stressful times??? Also we found it hard to understand any staff with a mask on when they are not required. Why not get with the times and allow the staff to not wear a mask, as is allowed in many other business establishments.

Great location. Easy check-in and covered check in area to unload our vehicle. Free breakfast was very good and had good options for us.

Our room was at the end of hallway (135)and the exit door was noisy so every time someone used it in the morning it slammed shut, was quite irritating inside our room at 7am when we were still trying to sleep. Outside of the hotel was in poor shape with cracked siding / missing paint, etc but the grounds were clean.

we loved the breakfast! the front desk staff were lovely. the ice machine was divine. the pool was fun! the cleanliness of the pool was sketchy, but honestly we had fun. the price of the room was excellent and it’s a great location and free breakfast is amazing. the AC in the bedroom was incredible loud- but it also worked well and kept us cool! the front desk staff were lovely, and played great music !!

the pool area could use a freshen up :)

Staff were friendly. It was quiet so we mostly had the pool to ourselves. We didn’t need housekeeping every day so we just asked for whatever we needed (extra coffee, towels, etc) and it would be provided. Good location, good value for money. I would stay there again.

I would pay extra for food items of higher quality.. it was perfectly adequate for what you pay for but the bread smelled of vinegar. I would’ve paid extra for some cheese or nicer brown bread

We traveled with our toddler (2 years old) and this is the first place where they actually have a REAL CRIB with a mattress and everything! He slept like in his own bed which made everything better. The place was spacious and clean. The buffet breakfast has everything we needed and a little more (cereal, fruit, eggs, waffles, yogurt, coffee, milk, muffins, etc.) The pool has a nice size and it is warm enough to not suffer (just a tiny bit cold). Their spa was great (very warm). And the location very nice for the area.

The breakfast served our needs in the morning. Not being big eaters, there was lots of variety and staff very helpful when asked. We did find the tub a bit large to step into and being seniors were a bit wary. I too like a bath mat in case of slipping. My partner did not like the high tub and should have probably mentioned it. We tried the pool and found it awkward while Swimming when you stopped, rubbed my toe on the rough bottom. Also hot tub a bit hard to sit in seating seemed too low. All in all we enjoyed our stay and staff told us of an excellent seafood restaurant to eat at. Staff in General were very easy to talk to and helpful in a all around manner. We would stay again Small things like no Toilet paper in Ladies at the pool in the morning. Was it first class no but staff again very willing to try and make it so.

Could have been just that little bit better.

Jacuzzi tub was awesome! We only have a shower in our apartment, so getting to soak in a jetted tub definitely made this feel like a vacation. Hot tub was great too. Beds were comfy, especially the pillows. Room itself was clean and certainly big enough for 2 people. Loved that there was a microwave and mini fridge too. The front desk girl was lovely as well, very friendly. Overall we're very satisfied with our stay and would stay again if we're in the area!

Water temp in the showers was inconsistent at times. Pool is only 3 ft deep so we couldn't really easily swim. The pool area was also pretty messy, there were used towels everywhere and the bathroom down there was a mess, though I'm fairly sure this is an exception and not the norm since everywhere else was clean.

Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good and looked after very well. The location was good for us, with lots of room for ( free) parking A free newspaper was also much appreciated.

I hardly saw a person at the reception desk, but helpful enough when you needed them The plumbing is quite noisy, from other rooms

We stayed for 3 nights in an adjoining room so our kids could enjoy their own space and sleep properly at night. The beds were comfortable and rooms were clean. AC in the rooms kept us cool throughout. My kids enjoyed the pool very much since it was shallow 3' throughout and I got to enjoy some downtime because I didn't have to be in the pool with them😃. Hot tub was nice too. Overall, a very budget friendly place that is near the beach, shops and fun kids park. Enjoyed our time and will definitely come back.

The continental breakfast was standard, wished they had scrambled eggs to change it up every other day. They were short of items (eggs, butter, white bread, etc.) for the breakfast at times.
