The Beach Club Resort — Bellstar Hotels & Resorts

We enjoyed lots of the included amenities and felt it was a really good deal for the price when these are considered: underground parking with charging for EV, boogie boards, skim boards, deck chairs, mountain bikes, pool and fitness centre etc. Other items in season too. You need a few days to get the most of it all and the wonderful beach. All the staff were great too. Very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was excellent. On cheque out we asked if we could leave our car in the package underground to stay cool whilst we enjoyed the beach for a while longer and they said no problem then handed us an amenities access key so the kids could enjoy the pool, hot tub and other facilities after check out too! So nice of them.

Elevator was out of order for most of our stay but did get repair just before we left. No fault of the staff and worse for room service staff then for us. The restaurant (though great) was sadly understaffed so wait times (with young kids) were a bit frustrating.

Big one bedroom suite near the beach and the town, lots of restaurants in walking distance. Very comfortable, well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Great private patio. Gas fireplace, nice touch.

Low ceiling in parkade damaged my cars lift gate. Will cost me hundreds to repair. Maintenance guy who saw the accident could only say he hoped I had not damaged his pipes. Pointed out the damage to my car as if to say it serves you right. 9 stories and one elevator. Lengthy waits. No remedy to this problem. No other complaints.

Eveything. it is indeed our home away from home during those 3 nights we stayed in the King Suite and it's very spacious and with a full kitchen you can do your own cooking easily. Definitely get the room with views to the beach. Bed is nice and comfy. We also had a dinner at the restaurant down on the main floor and service was 10/10 (food 8/10). Definitely worth a visit. The whole experience has been a real holiday treat away from busy city life.

wish we could have stayed longer.

The hotel was easy to find and underground parking was convenient. The room had a small kitchenette so we could make coffee/tea in the room and had a fridge to use. Bathroom was clean and comfortable. We had a balcony overlooking the boardwalk and the beach. At low tide the beach is very wide, which makes for a nice walk. The restaurant serves good food.

Because of the door closing mechanism, you need a lot of muscle to open the hotel room door.

Firstly, I was impressed with the cleanliness and the friendliness of all the staff. It felt like the staff were happy in their jobs. The facilities were good, our room was was really clean, comfortable and pleasing to the eye. The dome dining was lovely, as was the dining facilities - our food was delicious and the serving staff were exceptional. Our short getaway was fabulous!

huge suite w washer dryer seperate bedtoom deck with dining area as well as inside dining area. 2 bathrooms massive shower and tub lovely floor to ceiling windows pool and hot tub great staff very kind resto has good meal options if somewhat pricey really enjoyed walking on beach right in front of hotel and then to the right where there is a HUGE kids playground.

spa options heavily advertised but were just ok.

It’s a stunning location with views for miles. The staff were attentive and there are great facilities for families

The service in the restaurant was slow for dinner and breakfast, but the food was exceptional. It was also a little disappointing that the kayaks and paddle boards were booked out days in advance as we were only there for 2 nights and unable to book them

Our room had a lovely balcony overlooking the beach & boardwalk. Location was good but a fair walk to Arrowsmith Brewing. Bathroom was excellent & was the best of our recent stays in Vancouver Island. As we had not booked a separate restaurant we decided at the last minute to eat in the hotel restaurant & for some bizarre reason we received a complimentary meal but we had not given our name or room number, most strange. Also included free underground parking.

There was nothing to dislike

The location is great, right in front of the beach with fantastic view.

Usually when you stay at one of the best hotels in town, you’d expect somewhat warm welcome or at least greetings upon arrival by the staff, but very surprisingly there were no greetings either at the front desk or anywhere in the hotel if you happened to see them. Most of them looked cold and indifferent, not the way the professional staff supposed to react in the hospitality industry. Better training is suggested.

Wonderful view of the bay from our tower room, could check the tides and beach while relaxing on our balcony. You can't beat the location, at the center of the Parksville beach right on the boardwalk. Room was clean, comfy, adequately sized, with sufficient towels. Breakfast buffet had a good selection of hot and cold items (lots of fresh fruit! crispy bacon!), priced comparably for a resort hotel buffet. Every staff member was very friendly and helpful. Underground parking keeps the car cool in the summer heat, though it got overfilled on one of the nights.

Nit picking mainly ... the tower only has one elevator, so we walked up and down most times instead of waiting (except when accessing the parking garage). Pool is small for adults, but is mainly used by family kids and is fine for that. It is pricey for the area, but tries hard to live up to the price point. Be aware that most restaurants in the area close early at present (July 2021), for example at 7 pm. So if you want a later dinner you really do need to make a reservation in the hotel dining room. Or else you're going to wind up at a drive-thru or a grocery store deli-bar.
