Mariposa Hotel Malaga

Everything was perfect. Hotel was beautiful - modern yet tasteful, well positioned to the centre of everything but just far enough out to be a little quieter at night. Staff were efficient and super friendly. Breakfast was wonderful - tons of choice, hot and cold, in a lovely dining room. As it was our first holiday abroad in several years because of the pandemic, I indulged myself and my daughter by having a junior suite - worth the bit extra - so lovely, comfy beds, fab bathroom, lounge area to enjoy a bit of downtime (and watch the UK news….huge smart tv with all the uk channels, plus option to link to Netflix and Prime if you want!). Hotel also had a terrace up on the roof which was great for a bit of sunbathing. No complaints at all - highly recommended.

The Mariposa hotel is simply fantastic. We were allowed to leave our luggage early while our rooms were being allocated. Absolutely beautiful room, fantastic bed and furniture. A super clean bathroom with the best shower and toiletries is standard . The hotel is absolutely spotless and a credit to the house team . Fantastic room service. Also the hotel has a very special roof terrace with lovely beds and complimentary towels. A very good value hotel and we’re all planning on coming back soon. A lovely spacious room and bathroom well appointed and very comfortable. We liked the area that Mariposa was in very much. Close to everything and generally very quiet. An easy walk to everywhere.

The breakfast room could have been bigger. More thought for gluten-free diet was needed eg why was the tortilla not gluten free when there’s no need. My recipe for tortilla doesn’t have any flour. Given that this is a 4star hotel we thought they could have given us a coffee capsule each day instead of charging a € for every one. It just seemed penny pinching.

The room was very comfy and with an amazing bed, one of the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in. The location is great, very close to the city centre and from the beach (just 15min walk). Staff was great and very friendly, helpful and professional, always happy to help with every needs.

Just a little bit noisy during the week end due to the little restaurants on the street, but after midnight is pretty calm and quite (we slept with open windows beacuse it was too hot and we didn't want to sleep with the air con all night, it's soundproof if you keep them closed). Sometimes the air freshener scent in the common areas was a bit strong.

Perfect location and very convenient parking. Reception staff was helpful and nice. Perfect location! The exterior of the hotel is really pretty!

I didn't like the fact that they charge for coffee capsules which are in the room , it feels stingy and not worthy of a nice hotel. I've never come across this before and would prefer to pay a few more euro for the room and not feel like they can't be generous with a couple of Nespresso capsules. So easy to remedy this and give the guests a better feeling of hospitality. Walking into the room I thought, Oh how lovely, a Nespresso machine, only to see the large print announcing "1 Euro per capsule"...unpleasant.

Everything during the stay is reachable on foot. It's a short walk to the historical center, maybe not more than five minutes. Even if it's close to the center it's calm and peaceful around the hotel. The entrance is to a pedestrian street and traffic is not heard in the room. .

The distance to the beach, Playa de la Malagueta, is more distant than according to the information about the hotel. The distance on the closest way to walk there is around 1.4 or 1.6 kilometers. In the information about the hotel it's said to be 850 meters, but If you walk 850 meters from the hotel you only reach the harbour.

Location, room, furnishings, cleanliness and staff all excellent. A really comfortable and relaxing stay. We requested a quiet room and got it 👏

Loved the rooftop bar but it was closed all day Monday and closed for the evening at 11pm. Publicity highlights this bar as a selling point so was surprised and disappointed that for one day of our stay there was no bar. No prices were available in the room to indicate the cost of the room mini bar drinks - didn’t cause us any problem because we wouldn’t use such a facility but others might benefit from knowing what the charges were. Given that the overall nightly rate was in excess of 180 euro, charging 1 euro for a coffee pod for the room is a poor decision…..the first two were free!

The hotel is a very attractive family run concern, with likeable staff. Access from the airport is easy - ten minutes on the metro and a five minute walk. The breakfast room was bright and attractive and the breakfast choice was good. The rooftop bar was a bonus - a great place to unwind in the evening.

There was no a/c in our room and if the weather had been much warmer I think the stay would have been compromised. The TV offered plenty of channels but though Netflix, Prime etc seemed available, there was no interaction as to how to log on. This didn't matter much as we were out most of the time, but is something that could be easily corrected.

The reception staff were very pleasant and the rooms reasonably spacious. Beds very comfortable if a little high! lovely shower and bathroom facilities.

There was no restaurant - which we knew, but a breakfast area. However this was not used as a cafe during the day which we thought a little strange. Also, we were told there was a bar on the rooftop but it closed at 11pm and this was a Friday night! We never got to visit as we were attending a concert and by the time we got back to the hotel it was closed. So we had to find a bar for a late night drink outside of the hotel.

The location is awsome. It is close to the city centre, railway station, many restaurants and bars. It is a quiet and safe place. The reception staff was very helpful, pleasant and always smiling. They recommended good restaurants and kept our luggage on our departure day. They arranged for a small breakfast pack to be prepared for us as we left very early in the morning for a trip to Gibraltar. I can recommend this hotel!

Some of the waitresses on the rooftop bar were quite unpleasant. Never ask for "last order" and just brought the bill. They strictly refused to sell any more drinks. Which is strange because the roof is still open and you can sit there without the bar being open. In addition, one day they closed the bar already at 10:30 p.m., i.e. an hour before the announced end - also without the possibility to buy another drink. This is a shame both for us and for the hotel owner, we would have liked to buy something, but it was not possible. P.S. We weren't a trouble-making group, on the contrary, most were women and we were very decent.
