Protea Hotel by Marriott Stellenbosch & Conference Centre

Bed was EXTRA King size - searched for my wife!!! Public Parking limited especially if you drive down for breakfast prior to proceeding on daily trips. Conference attendees used room allocated parking during the day. Staff VERY helpful - a few at breakfast with a long face but those that knew that you there for a period of time took and made great effort to have a peaceful relaxed breakfast. Suggest areas where in shaded areas non conference visitor that are booked in can relax and take in the view and have wine or soft drinks in soft furnishings.

I booked for 3 days to rest after international travel and before a work conference. It was ideal with very comfortable, clean. quiet accommodation. Plenty of space to work and rest. The large pool is great for exercise. There is also a good gym although I didn't use this. The staff and service are excellent and worthy of a 5 star hotel. So friendly and accommodating and should be congratulated. The breakfast is very good with great options. The dinner options are casual but sufficient for a few nights and good wine choices. It is also a good base to explore Stellenbosch and the vineyards. Overall excellent value for money compared with the pricey, local boutique hotels.

The staff were extremely chipper and very helpful especially since we requested a late check in. Even the gentlemen and his golf cart assisted us to cart our luggage to our rooms was friendly and helpful.

The Bed was extremely uncomfortable. It maybe needs to be turned and flipped once it a while. Or better yet replaced. The room looked like it was still being upgraded and it should have been finished it had guests occupy it.

This is a great hotel with little houses. You get an apartment with two rooms, kitchenette. The breakfast was amazing, ask for the omelette. The Wingerd restaurant is great for a nice dinner with a variety of wines. The hotel is surrounded by a breathtaking area of mountains and vineyards. If you want to stay in the region of Stellenbosch, choose this hotel.

The room/apartment was very spacious with good views over the vineyards and other green areas. Staff at reception always went out their way to accommodate anything we asked for. super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was big and catered for everything. Special mention to Amos from the breakfast team, he was the loveliest member of the whole restaurant team always making sure we got our special coffees. Even remembered our complicated double surnames to greet every morning.

Two days it was really loud at night. The furniture is a bit outdated.

Lovely room, fast complimentary Wi-Fi, excellent room service, location (!!), peaceful. Hotel has the best view of all the hotels we've stayed at in Stellenbosch, unmatched.

On this trip we got a ground floor, west facing room with zero view, next to the cleaner's storeroom. Noisy in the mornings. Margarine, not butter (!!??) at breakfast.

Nothing,but there has to be a notification in every room to the effect that guests must be considerate and respect other guest choices . This was informed by an incident when one guest returned at night on Wednesday and just bang his doors .you can see the motive behind was to annoy us and to start something.

Protea Hotel is so centrally located it was very easy to lock up and go and travel to where we needed to be. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Everything was clean. Setting and view was beautiful. Cant wait to visit again in April.

The breakfasts were plentiful, and very good thank you, however do you need more lighting on the steps to go to the nighttime restaurant? I slipped and fell on the last step because our bodies were shadowing small light That were there

Excellent variety for breakfast. Minimally affected by loadshedding due to solar and generator.

Better quality food for lunch and dinner, although there are a few restaurant options nearby until the hotel restaurants ups their game.
