Hotel Dom Henrique - Downtown

The room was very clean with all the amenities required for a great stay and the bed was comfortable. Moreoever staff was very pleasant and friendly, my only complaint was the number of smokers near the entrance but the HOTEL has no control of this. I am highly sensitive to certain odors and cigarette smoke really bothers me.

I would prefer that smokers smoke farther away from the main entrance but I'm certain not everyone is bothered as much as I am by cigarette smoke

Location is fantastic situated at the top of the old town, walkable distance to all city attractions. Fantastic restaurants within 5 minutes of the hotel. Hotel itself was very clean, quiet and comfortable. My room overlooked the street but I did not hear any outside noises. The bed was so comfortable the best I’ve slept in, in a hotel in a long time. The breakfast was perfect, great selection, fresh and tasty. All staff were friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Definitely pay a visit to the bar, beautiful view of the city, day or night. Will definitely be back.

The breakfast was great and set us up for the day. Something for everyone and all fresh. Staff very attentive. The 17th floor was great. Although we didn’t eat in the restaurant we did have snacks and drinks in the bar area which we loved. We missed the dj as too late and we were shattered but great atmosphere and views. Twin beds very comfortable and lots of cupboard space. A few more hangers would be appreciated. We were upgraded when we arrived to have a larger room and a balcony so very pleased with our large room and views. We even loved the swifts nesting around our balcony. They gave us endless entertainment with their speed and flying skills … a real bonus to us but not sure everyone would appreciate them!

Location good for station and shops and bars but a bit of a trek to river. Although for good tips from hotel reception on route to take to minimise the steep walk back. Would have been nice to have milk in room to make tea (as not coffee drinkers) and with high standards I would have expected dressing gowns and would have been appreciated.

Breakfast average quality and selection. Rooms are very old and tired and in need of renovation. They were small with small beds.

The Hotel Dom Henrique was perfect. The rooms were spacious and clean, the bed was very comfortable and the location was very conveniently located without the noise to interrupt a good nights sleep. The television station availability was superb, covering a wide variety of options. We could easily walk to local markets, restaurants, Avenida Dom Afonso Henriques to meet the Hop-on Hop-off buses and São Bento train Station. The staff was more than accommodating for various requests, their restaurant recommendations were spot on, they really went above and beyond, very helpful & knowledgeable. Lastly, their breakfast was extensive and delicious, more like a brunch. We knew little about this property prior to our stay but would highly recommend the stay.

The rooftop bar offers great views but its a very tight area that may not suit non-smokers. Stayed in a comfort suite which was very well laid out as we were 2 friends sharing, although the lighting could have been a bit brighter in the bathroom and lobby area. We opted for room only rate and went to a lovely local cafe 1 min walk away with a mouth-watering selection of savoury and sweet pastries and great coffee at a more than reasonable price, probably €4 pp

The hotel is a good 25 min up hill walk from the main Ribeiro area so if you don't like walking ensure you get taxis. Additional pods for the coffee machine were by request and chargeable, c'mon a 4 star hotel and 4 star prices? I think the hotel is overpriced for location

Good location. Rooms are spacious, clean and you get nice view is you are on higher floors. All facilities were great and we got a champagne as welcome drink. The rooftop bar is nice place to chill and relax and the cocktails were wonderful. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I tried to make a reservation for dinner and request for birthday cake on same day around noon but it was too late :( Just was not expecting this for a 4-star hotel. In case you are planning such things, then inform hotel in advance and all will be sorted as they are very nice and helpful.

It has a wonderful bar and restaurant on the 17th and 18th floor. with a panoramic view of oPorto. We couldn't get into the restaurant the first two night as it was fully booked, so we booked for the third. Unhappily, we had to cancel that but we did eat in the bar. The food was very good, with a reasonably sized bar menu.

The breakfast. I believe it was an option on booking.com and I selected. Once I did it became breakfast included and couldn't be changed. Too bad. While it was a quite standard breakfast for Portuguese hotels and B and Bs, it was badly cooked. Runny scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs with black yolks, powdered decaf coffee.

Excellente location, at the fringe of the old city, a stone throw from Trindade metro station, so super convenient to go anywhere (5mins walk to St Catarina for all the shopping). Building outside is quite old (70s/80s) but rooms have been fully renovated so very clean, very comfortable (rooms are big) and excellent bed. Our stay was in winter and heater was well tuned for optimum comfort. Also excellent restaurant on 18th floor with superb view . This "modern" hotel does not have the charm of the old buildings, but offers an excellent compromise location, comfort, convenience
