Exe Almada Porto

While not many facilities in this hotel it provides excellent value for money if what you are after is location, convenience, great breakfast and good vibe. It is located within close proximity or walking distance (10-15 minutes walk) to many sights, bars, restaurants, supermarkets, the Santa Catarina shopping street, the Trinidade and Aliados metro stations and the 207 and 500 bus lines (the latter a bit further than the former) and event to the Ribeira area near the Douro river (the other direction is uphill so the metro can be helpful). Very helpful and welcoming staff in the front desk and in the dinning room - very high quality of service. Rooms are convenient, not very big - reasonable size. We had one room facing the back yard and it seems to be bigger and quieter than the room facing the street. The area is very busy with hustle and bustle until late hours due to the many bars and restaurants in the vicinity - the hotel is located in a corner of two busy streets with traffic and many pedestrians in (rua Almada & rua do Dr. Ricardo Jorge). It may get noisy and the rooms facing these streets are not 100% noise proof. Hasn't bothered us and hasn't impeded the overall experience, which was great. On the upside, if you have a few drinks only a few minutes walk to your room.

We had booked a transfer from the airport through the hotel and the driver simply didn't show up. A taxi was eventually cheaper (25 instead of 32 Euros) but waiting time for one was long at 2AM. If available the Metro from/to Trinindade (and from there about 5 minutes walk) is the cheapest way for only 2 Euro (about 30 minutes ride).

it is good value for money. the staff are lovely. and the location is wonderful. plus there are heat/cooling controls in the room. excellent Wi-Fi and a great place to set up a temporary office. my room was on the top floor and was very quiet during all of my stay. I also appreciated that the staff respected my DND requests so that I could work without interruption during the day and could easily arrange for alternative cleaning times that suited me better. they even let me sit in the breakfast area with my laptop while they cleaned. room was spacious enough for two and the slippers were a nice touch. bed was very comfortable.

All buildings in Portugal struggle with dampness, especially during the winter. and since this is a heritage stone building, expect the use the heat in the room to eliminate the dampness. it took less than 30 mins to make the room completely comfortable and I stayed during the wettest winter in recent memory. no smell of mold or mildew. In fact most of the building smelled wonderful. the water temperature was inconsistent in the morning rush but I was on the top floor so that is to be expected. The breakfast was just so so.

I stayed at this hotel in Porto for two nights and had a great experience overall. While the first room I was allocated was not very satisfactory, the receptionist (I apologize for not remembering her name) was extremely helpful and accommodating in helping me change rooms. The new room was much more comfortable and clean, and I appreciated the prompt attention to my concerns. The location of the hotel was fantastic - within walking distance of many of Porto's main attractions and restaurants. Overall, I had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Porto. Thank you for the excellent service!

The first room was not perfectly clean.

Excellent location in the city. Close the the metro Trindade with direct line to the airport (30 mins). We arrived late so took the night bus from the airport 3M to the centre (20 mins) then was only 5 mins walk. Room was comfortable and clean. Quite modern interior although not big. Mini bar and safe. A little noisy from the road but windows were quite soundproof. Staff lovely. We did not have breakfast but the breakfast room looked nice.

Was a little noisy when the window was open, but otherwise no complaints at all.

The room and location were exactly as I had expected. I was in a room facing away from the street, so it was very peaceful and quiet. Lots of restaurants and cafes within walking distance, you will be very central if you stay here. It is at the top of a slight hill and the streets are more narrow than I'd expected (just a heads up).

The booking website seemed to allude to a "free" breakfast, but it's not free. There's a fee (12 euros) for it every morning. I thought it was included. Not a big deal, but it felt like false advertising on the booking.com website so beware.

nice hotel in the heart of the city, very near bars and restaurants. reception was nice and lifts were swift and quiet. we stayed on the 4th Floor (top) which was a reasonable size with a comfortable bed. lovely breakfast.

the bedroom window was rather small and so not a lot of natural light. The wardrobes were quite short due to the fact they were located under the sloping ceiling. some road noise experienced during the week days as commuters drove to work, but not too concerning.

We arrived early to the hotel and expected to leave our luggage at the front desk while we explored, but we were able to check in early, which was a nice touch. The front desk staff was so friendly and welcoming. Provided us a map to the city which was nice. The room was bigger than normal and we liked that the room didn't have carpeting for allergy reasons. Bed was ok---moving around on it made it make ridiculous sounds. Some other reviews also mention this. Sheets and pillows were okay. Bathroom was a good size and the shower was good with always hot water. Breakfast had lots of options. Our room was serviced each day. Hotel is located down the street from a major tram/subway stop which was great when travelling from/to airport.

The hotel uses some sort of fragrance in its common spaces--that it's a bit overwhelming at times. ?? Is it to cover up sewage smell? I have no idea. Bed creaks when moving around on it---expect lots of grumbles from your spouse when tossing and turning at night because it definitely is annoying (grumbles AND the bed creaking!). The breakfast space has these odd lights that are too low if you are tall--you constantly have to duck so you don't run into them unexpectantly. ??? The breakfast staff spend too much time in the kitchen talking to the cooks--you can hear them from the breakfast room and it's kind of unprofessional.

Communication with the staff before arriving was clear and quick; the staff was warm, welcoming and responded efficiently to any request when I was at the hotel. The common areas and my room were clean and comfortable, the room quiet and warm (without being too warm), the AC functioning well when needed. The location was great - close to the subway/metro station and walking distance from most of the top spots to visit in Porto. I spent only one night at the Exe Almada Hotel, but would definitely consider returning for a longer stay!

Everything was great, room was good, comfortable bed, modern decor, clean, tidy, but the staff were the real stars! They were very helpful, joyful, always doing their best to offer support to all our queries! Superlative! The location was fabulous too! Nice eating places around, we could reach the whole of Porto easily on foot!

Good business hotel with a superb location close to the city center. The staff is friendly, helpful, and the rooms are clean. After a few nights, I experienced some issues with noise in my room, but the hotel promptly offered me a new room.

The rooms are a bit small, but considering the location, it's acceptable. However, I wouldn't exactly call the fitness center a "gym."
