The Marketplace Apartments by Storytellers

We had a great time at this apartment midst the centre of Funchal. It was cleaned every day and there's even a washing machine in the apartment! We didn't use it but that is a total plus. The bed was good and we were able to cook every meal in the kitchen. We also appreciated the little café downstairs where we got coffee and pastel de nata, a typical cake from Madeira. Because of the use of a code to get in and out of the apartment, it was really easy to 'check-out' and leave for our flight back. The busstop is also very closeby. It is located on a busy shopping street, but it had an airconditioning that worked fine, so we were able to get some good nights of sleep without any noise from outside. Great place to finish our holiday in Madeira.

A fully equipped kitchen and even a washing machine was a huge benefit. Location was also great having everything nearby - the market, supermarkets, restaurants, bus stations to all locations on the island, the harbour, ...

The breakfast was getting quite repetitive after a few days. While I appreciate the effort to have breakfast delivered to the door every morning, a little bit more variety would have been nice. E.g. making use of the wide variety of fruits available on Madeira, instead of just going for apples and bananas.

Excellent location, in the heart of the city, basically everything you need (restaurants, grocery stores, Mercado, Rua de Santa Maria) is in walking distance. Parking also available at Anadia Parking (right on the corner like 30 meters from the apartment, open between 07-23). In the tourist high season (end of June) we always found parking spaces, only steep at the entrance and the exit, the rest is okay. For overnight parking it was 15€. Apartment is excellent, spacious and clean, A/C is also available. We have always received our breakfast between 7:00-7:30. If we ever visit Madeira again, we will definitely stay at Marketplace by Storytellers again! Thank you!

Check-in was very convenient. Room was quiet and the windows had great sound insulation. We had no issues with street noise. AC worked great. Location was excellent. Breakfast was a nice bonus. We didn't eat it everyday but it was nice to bring along for a snack during the day.

Parking at the shopping centre was quite pricey at 15 euros per day. There was no cheaper alternative available. Bathroom lacked counter space. We ended up bringing in one of the little coffee tables from the living room and used that so not a huge issue. Would have been nice to get more than one laundry pod to wash clothes. We ended up buying a huge bottle at the grocery store and only used 2 loads worth of detergent.

Modern and clean. As central as it can be. The included breakfast was decent. Would probably stay here again if I ever came back.

A bit of a misunderstanding occurred in the beginning, which I think they could've handled more nicely. We had notified them in advance that we would arrive early, so we needed a place to leave our bags while we explored the city (we were fine with not checking in yet) and they said that they were gonna help us with that. But when we actually arrived, I first called the number they had provided for us, but no one answered. After a while, I called the number that's stated on their profile here, and the woman answering seemed a bit annoyed, telling me that check-in was not until later. But after I explained that we had agreed about this beforehand, she became more helpful, and eventually, everything got solved, but it kinda left us with a bad first impression.

Wifi was really good (100mbps), very clean and cleaning in general was exceptional. Breakfast was left by the door every morning, we usually made a picnic out of it and made breakfast ourselves or at least part of it. Central location in the middle of a busy pedestrian street which is near bars, restaurants and main street by the ocean. The rooms were quite spacy compared to hotel standards and to be fair it feels more like an apartment rather than a hotel. Big supermarket is just across the street.

The walls are quite thin we heard our neighbours talking everyday at 4am. There is NO parking. Not provided by the property nor on the streets nearby. You have to pay 10eur/day to park it in nearby parking lot. If you are planning to rent a car this might be a pain. Rooms were a bit dark in part it was due to faulty shutters closing when wind blows. Property does not provide shampoo, shower gel.

New and moder apartment right on the main street. Comfortable bed and towels in the bathroom. One day before our arrival we received code to main door on the street and second code to door in the apartment. Were possible left luggage in the room after check-out but only to 5pm. After 7.30am was left breakfast in bag outside the aparments door (bread, slice of ham, slice of cheese, butter, jam, juice, croissant, muffin, apple). Equipped kitchen.

No shampoo and shower gel.

Comunication was very good with this property and the staff was very efficient and friendly. Location was very good easy to walk to stores, restaurants and sites. Overall we would stay there again if we are fortunate to make it back to Funchal!

Perhaps english instructions on how to operate the stove, clothes washer and shower as they were not familiar products to us, however we did manage to figure them out eventually and they worked very well!

Great place in a perfect location. The room was very spacious and they put an extra bed at no cost for our 4 yo daughter. It is just a few meters away from a shopping mall with a supermarket and from the more traditional local market. Even if it is in a very busy street the room was quiet and calm.

The windows are shaded, it would be great to benefit from more natural light. It was also a bit hot inside, but it has a working air conditioner, it was us that decided not to turn it on.

Everything was perfect. Modern, light Apartment. Very convenient self checkin. Cleaning was done every day with good quality. Good furnished apartment. Bed was very comfortable. Balcony was a very pleasant bonus. Breakfast continental, so not very tasteful, but this is not an issue as apartment has a kitchen and supermarket is 100 meters away. Best location in Funchal, close to the ocean, beach and all bus stops over the island. In Funchal will stay only here in the future!
