Everything. It was such a relaxing and quiet stay and the facilities, food and helpful reception staff made it very comfortable. The garden is beautifully tended to with different paths and vistas to discover. The food is adventurous, healthy and a great introduction to Madeira’s cuisine, but still International enough to suit all tastes.

The pool is heated but only slightly. The manager did everything he could to make the temperature comfortable for our family, I can’t fault him. In reality, it seems the gas heater can’t heat the pool further and I think the attraction of two heated pools is mischaracterised for a winter break. The breakfast area is a little small when the hotel is full and it rains as you can’t use the outside area. We waited a long time one morning to be seated. A robust rain covered veranda would help a lot.

This was a little slice of paradise in an already beautiful city. We spent many a day lazing in the gorgeous botanical gardens, listening to the birds and watching butterflies go past. Both the pools are fantastic and the spa facilities were great, especially the sauna. We each had a massage one day which was heavenly. Breakfast was amazing and set us up well for every day, whether we were doing the aforementioned lazing, meandering the streets of Funchal or visiting the island. We loved Madeira and this hotel was exactly what we wanted - it gave us the tropical, warm paradise that we’d so long craved through British winter. I’m already missing it and can’t wait to return.

We ate one evening in the hotel and thought it was overpriced and - despite all the fancy service - the food not that great. The bar food was also a bit below par, which is weird considering how outstanding the breakfasts were. Luckily you can literally walk five minutes around the corner and find loads of really great places - I particularly recommend O Dragoeiro - 3 delicious courses for €27! Also, very small thing but it would have been nice to have conditioner (as well as shampoo) in the hotel rooms.

Breakfast could be more various. Bottle of water in the room was offered not every day.

The pool, The Dinning room restaurant with amazing and surprising dinners, the gardens and territory, wonderful friendly service and ultra professional at the same time, spacious (premium) room with outstanding view over the gardens, calm and relaxing atmosphere. Our kid was happy with resort friends by the pool, liked the food and to walk by himself at secluded gardens, discovering all kind of local trees and fruits. Easy parking onsite and great location in Funchal.

The rooms might need a bit of refreshing look, yet the internet Wifi is what really needs improvement in rooms. The breakfast was good, but at Covid times was more sumptuous and broader choice.

The hotel represents quite an architectural gem and very much reminded us of a Mies van der Rohe building, especially, the splendid reception area. As a result, it all looked a bit "50's", but we really loved it, a unique experience. The place exhales a special aura, especially in combination with the lovely garden. We had booked a "deluxe suite with garden view" and indeed, the suite not only provided a lovely view into the spacious garden, but had been itself also very spacious including a huge, but comfortable (marble) bathroom and a nice seating area. The rooms walls were partially covered in brownish wood panels which harmonised well with the inbuilt wardrobe. The breakfast buffet offered many options with daily variations. The staff had been very attentive and friendly. On our first evening, we had dinner at the local "fine dining" restaurant, "The Dining Room". Again, a very nice experience and a good idea for a first night, we thought. The spa area including the sauna was small, but fine.

We had some issues with our shower in our bathroom. Due to some unfortunate construction, there had been a small gap between the floor lining of the shower and its sliding glass door that caused water spilling into our bathroom. However, the staff was so attentive and creative and together with a skilled worker they were able to fix it with an additional flexible shower curtain. Well done!

The gardens of this Quinta are absolutely superb and so well maintained and create a very relaxed environment. The garden bedroom was excellent, clean and very well presented.Breakfasts were gorgeous and the breakfast room with its patio superb. All the staff were very friendly and determined to enhance our stay. This was absolutely one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed in and would highly recommend it

The location of the hotel is about a 20-25 minute walk from the old town and there are a couple of steep hills to contend with. If mobility is a problem you will need to use the buses or a taxi into town.

Exceeded our expectations (already high with previous stay 2 years ago!) once again - the gardens and pools are still amazing, the rooms got improved with espresso machines, the dinners at Dining Room are above expectations of almost any food experience we had. Can't wait to come back another time! A lot of staff members changed since last years, yet the level of service is still nothing short of amazing.

The Wi-Fi in the rooms (Premium rooms) could be improved. Also, funny enough, I liked the breakfast experience while Covid years much more - due to more extensive a la carte options, and now with being back to buffet its less appealing.

Beautiful gardens and good breakfasts. We booked a superior garden room and it was lovely sitting on the terrace in the afternoon sun - very relaxing. Also liked being able to walk to restaurants nearby. Spa treatments were exceptionally good.

Nothing

Everything was great. The rooms (garden room) are spacious and nice, with great terrace and comfortable beds. There are fresh flowers in room. Fruits and water are waiting for the guests. There is a nespresso coffee machine with daily filled capsules. The hotel surronding (garden) is absolutely beautiful. We have received sweets for Easter and there was a chocolate egg hunt for children. Both pools are great with heated water. Food was delicious. Staff is great, very helpful and welcoming. First hotel I want to revisit!

Stunning setting with views of the mountains and gardens. Extremely attentive staff. Superb food. A delightful experience in fascinating grounds with a grand manor house. Vibrant yet relaxing place. I'm sure we will return.

The internet and air-conditioning. But nearly perfect.
