Quinta Mirabela - Design Hotel

Fabulous views; friendly, helpful staff. Loved the special touches such as the cake they made to celebrate my birthday. Lovely well equipped spa. Great spot for watching the toboggan run as it runs passed the hotel.

Nothing - although may not suit people with walking difficulties due to position half way up a fairly steep hill but taxis are readily available if needed.

Hotel had a beautiful view from our room, the breakfast was good, staff very friendly and helpful.

Bed was uncomfortable, the shower was weak, no complimentary tea or coffee in the room.

Beautiful decor and stunning views of Funchal. The staff were all friendly, hardworking and very helpful! The hotel was clean, comfortable with excellent facilities and great food.

Staff were amazing. Great location with free minibus to town centre.

The property is beautiful, I loved the décor and the views are amazing and The staff was friendly, helpful and attentive.

The street/hill that the property is on. If you have trouble walking, bad knees, trouble breathing etc.. this location is not for you. Cabs will pick you up in front and drop you off there but if your taking a shuttle or tour or public transportation its located at the bottom of the hill. If it is raining you will not be dropped off by bus or van will not drop you off in front because the hill is so steep. I also contracted food poisonings the night before my departure. I attibute it to the hotel because it was the only place I ate that day and the night before.

The breakfast was good, there was continental as well as cooked breakfast, breads, pastries, yogurt, fruits etc. Coffee and teas. However, being a vegan I would’ve loved different milk, such as almond or soya for example. Or some vegan choices. I had a great room with spectacular views and balcony. On warm days I was able to sit and totally enjoy the views of Madeira. The staff were excellent, especially Tania who was super attentive and professional. The taboggan activity is great fun (go in the morning or late afternoon to beat cruise ships crowds) and they go past the hotel, which is fun to watch.

As mentioned above vegan options. As the hotel is not in the center of Funchal, there is reliance on the hotel taxi (need to book) but that’s fine. And it’s free, they will pick you up too! Just be aware the hill the hotel is on is incredibly steep.

Fabulous views over city. Food great at dinner. Staff brilliant and very helpful in advising on accessing hotel. Lovely decor throughout hotel and very clean and modern facilities in the bathroom. wifi good.

Breakfast was just ok and frankly a little disappointing for 5 star hotel in terms of choice and content. Nothing wrong - just a little basic. Outdoor swimming pool not heated. Room not the biggest. A little tricky to access hotel as roads are narrow and steep. The toboggan baskets need to be negotiated as they pass the hotel but we didn't find it a problem - just had to be careful exiting the car park.

The property itself was up on a steep hill but the views that it offered was extraordinary from watching the sunrise on our way to breakfast and sitting out on the balcony to watch the sunset. The breakfast was one of the best I’ve had in hotels. The staff are always so helpful and engaging. They have a carpark which is free for guests The provide free transport to the town but bear in mind, they have set times and you will need to book with reception an hour before you plan to go. They also collect from the town. The hotel is about 2km from Funchal but in my opinion not too far to travel. The hotel is situated right outside where you can watch the Tobbogan rides.

All the staff were exceptional - check in, cleaners and the waiters / waitresses. Very friendly, but absolutely professional and keen for you to have the best stay ever. You could walk out of our room straight on to the terrace which overlooked the port where the cruise liners came in. Absolutely lovely view. Breakfast superb and very Covid clean, with individual tongs provided for each guest. Evening meal was exceptional and not over-priced. We also bought a packed lunch which involved you making your own from the breakfast buffet plus a few extras - what a great idea when you are walking the levadas! The hotel overlooks the road where the wicker baskets come down the hill, this was an added bonus and a great bit of added interest while drinking your sundowner.

The courtesy bus didn't run on a week-end and we arrived on a Friday .... but we managed perfectly well with a bit of planning. Its an incredibly steep hill back up to the hotel from the town. But a courtesy bus at week-ends would have been good.

The staff was full of energy and helpful. They were able to accommodate us an extra night when our other accommodations fell through. They had an amazing staff including Marco. The receptionist even took her time to help us rent a car , which would have been triple the price if rented online. The spa was wonderful as well as the pool . We will be back.
