Great location Lovely gardens

Rooms are very dated especially the bathroom, Towels were off colour and quite thin and washed out Breakfast was quite good but not kept very hot,the cups for hot drinks run out most mornings so had to wait for them to be replaced,we've stayed at this hotel 3 times because we love the location but don't think we will stay again unless they do some renovations

The staff is super friendly and the gym is HUGE plus! The beach walk is absolutely gorgeous.

The breakfast was not a 4-star hotel breakfast. The bread was dry and absolutely not fresh, the warm dishes did not taste fresh or nourishing but rather like pre-heated fast food, and there is no plant based milk or yoghurt available. There is no really nice lounge area where you can sit and work for example. The bar area available plays terribly loud and annoying music from afternoon onwards and the drinks in the bar are mediocre at best. Sometimes personal trainers are having sessions in the gym and every PT I encountered was pretty rude and arrogant in the gym while I was working out alone.

Waited for four years for this holiday and were amazed by this location! The room was tidy and convenient, perfect for staying for afternoon naps and the nights. The room to the landside was good choice, shadowy until late afternoon. No need to use aircon although over 30°. Public areas wide, so much places to rest in and outside, everything clean and cool, staff always at sight and cleaning up. Breakfast and lunch buffet with a wide range, no problem to try new things every day, large availability of fresh fruit. (By the way, we found at least 6 coffee machines, no problem to get served ;-)). Range of Day Trips could be booked directly at the reception, everything arranged by the staff, pick up at the hotel. Fine guarded beach in visual range, clean water, no stones etc., good for walks, either in the sand or on the wooden walkway. We had a great time, thank you!

The sanitary next to the pool is functional but in a bad condition, doors of the toilet not to be locked. As per the very good condition of the rest of the hotel I imagine that's the next site ;-)

The staff was really helpful and friendly and the facilities were clean and great. They had outdoors activities in the afternoon as well as live music at night. Overall, the hotel had a great ambience and it was a peaceful and calm stay.

The first day they came to clean our room early in the morning, while we were having breakfast. However, the following three days we had to get out of the room after having lunch so they could clean it. Some days they didn't give us clean towels or bathroom supplies and we had to ask for toilet paper as we ran out of it.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights recently and the location is excellent. It is only a short walk to the beach and boardwalk. A short taxi ride or 15 minutes walk away from the town centre. There is a large selection of bars and restaurants in Alovr all within a short distance of each other. The hotel also has its own bar, which has a reasonable selection of beers and a nice atmosphere. The rooms have all the amenities you would expect such as tv, fridge, safe, hairdryer and AC. The extensive grounds have 2 outdoor pools, with plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas and a pool bar for drinks & Ice cream. There is also an indoor pool with Spa as well. Breakfast was included, there was plenty to choose from and it was hot & fresh. All in all, it was a really good hotel in an excellent location.

I couldn't find much to fault the hotel. Perhaps a more extensive selection of fruit at breakfast. Also, a shaving mirror in the bedroom would a nice addition.

The comfort, the privacy, the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful and nice both in the restaurant and the staff cleaning the bedrooms are so thorough and considerate at all times. The location of the property is exceptionally good, the proximity to the beach and the board walk and the views of the beach . The private gardens and the pool are exceptionally family friendly and most convenient for people to use. Also all of the staff on the reception desk are most helpful and friendly, booking taxis for us and printing out our boarding passes when departing from your hotel.

Sea view, location, friendly staff, good breakfast selection, nice outdoor area, clean and tidy, would recommend to couples, families, singles. Pestana has a number of hotels around the world I’ve stayed in a few, found that they are well managed and seem to employ good staff, so if you see a Pestana hotel don’t hesitate. I will be staying again in February 2023, therefore confirmation that the hotel is good.

Like everyone else pillows, also found a few of the towels very old and some had holes, bathrooms a bit dated, however I would still stay there, just a few little things to make a great stay.

It was clean, large room, friendly staff, and good facilities. The dining room was spacious, divided into different sections. Would return if the AC was reliable.

The heating system!! No hot air at all! I complained every day I was there (3) and was told someone would look into it. Nothing happened. I heard another couple complain also. They did provide an extra duvet, but this still made it very uncomfortable staying in the room. It was warmer in the corridors, so only option was to keep my door open , when possible!! I did write an email of complaint directly to them, but no response. Very bad indeed. This is a shame, because I did like it there, very much, but would I return? Not in the winter!

I would suggest a kettle & mugs etc in the rooms each day for guests to have cup of tea or coffee when they wish. Also i would like to see bathroom towels left as separated after use....not interfered with.

I liked everything about Dom Joao 11. This was my third time being there. Very central also.

the breakfast! many choices without being over the top and things kept being restocked till the very last minute. not the usual pressure of having to be an early-bird or having to awkwardly beg. very well done! and the location! very calm and soothing, even though the weather is bipolar at this time of the year. no traffic, no music, no pool activities that drive you nuts.

nothing in particular... a little report or constructive feedback for the maintenance team: - some power outlets were loose and were not making proper contact, you might want to check those. - bathtub glass divider was letting water into the floor. you might want to check those rubber seals. - bathroom door was hitting the bidet. maybe place a door stopper or a bumper to protect both the door and thd bidet.
