Algarve Casino Hotel

Great location in Portimão! Exceptionally clean and continually maintained throughout the day, beautiful location on the beach, walking distance to many superb restaurants and lively nightlife with great views and food! The spa service we had (massages) was incredible! Breakfast was included and delicious. It is buffet style with a wide variety of food and beverages to choose from. Poolside restaurant had many food choices and we were happy with our lunches there. We loved the free use of umbrellas and chairs at the beach! We found the prices at the hotel and in the area to be very reasonable especially for the location. Check in and check out was very easy. I would recommend the hotel and would choose to stay here again!

There were a couple of times that we had miscommunication with the front desk. Once was in regard to laundry services (I received conflicting information from two different staff members). The second, and most important was a mix up with booking spa services for a birthday! Fortunately, there was availability for us to receive them on the day we wanted but it was at a different time and it impacted the day we had planned. In both instances we spoke with the same front desk staff member. I will acknowledge that our different languages may have played a small part, but I believe it had more to do with his listening skills. I say this because when I would repeat my question or request he understood the topic but wasn’t answering the question.

The staff were exceptional and really went above and beyond. Location is class too. One of the better breakfast buffets I have had.

Our toilet broke but the staff did fix it within an hour, the rooms could maybe do with a bit of a revamp too but nothing major especially since you barely spend any time in them! No tea / coffee in the rooms

The hotel is dated in style but very clean, comfortable and has THE best location. Special mention should go to the staff covering the dining room during breakfast. When I had an issue with my room it was sorted immediately.

Whilst not the most exciting job in the world - the assistant manning the towel “booth” rarely smiled and was not super helpful when I was trying to find out where the spa staff were. I was very surprised to be charged €3 for someone to help me open a bottle of wine where the cork was stuck! I would have tipped him anyway but given how many times I have stayed here, it was surprising and disappointing. The salad at breakfast wasn’t as juicy or fresh as it has been in past visits.

Incredible view from our room and lovely staff who were very accommodating. The pool is beautiful and one of the cleanest pools we have been to. There were plenty of options for breakfast. Great access to beach and loads of sun beds available. Added bonus of having free sun beds on the beach too.

We did have a sewage smell coming from our bathroom when we first arrived due to blocked pipes, however we were promptly moved to a new room with a slightly better view and it did not affect our stay.

The ocean view is great and the balconies are huge. The staff is really helpful, the reception desk, the bar, the breakfast room and the pool people. The pool is large, with enough sun loungers and never felt overcrowded. The rooms were quiet (even if my room was on top of the casino, I didn’t hear any noise). Around the hotel, there are plenty restaurants, coffee shops and ice cream shops.

One of the staff came to me asking if I needed help, but implying he was asking whether I was a guest at the hotel. While the staff member was polite and I appreciate they are ensuring the hotel is safe, it was terrible to feel singled out. The hotel could find bias-free processes of accomplishing ensuring guest safety. Wi-Fi could be better. It was impossible to stream from my room, but the Wi-Fi at the lobby is good enough to download episodes.

Location, the salt water pool overlooking the ocean was paradise. The beach was also clean, large and amazing. We actually extended our stay by an extra day because we were sad to leave.

The rooms, pool and beach chairs, umbrellas and hotel could use a little updating. Lounge chairs on our patio and on the beach had a substantial amount of bird droppings that should be cleaned each day. The beach staff set up some chairs and canopies and then locked themselves in the beach cabana and talked on the phone until their shift was over. They should be cleaning the birds dropping on the chairs.

Magnificent view of the beach. The grounds and location of hotel is wordy of 5 stars. The room was beautiful with a very large balcony, a little dated but extremely comfortable. My biggest mistake was booking a massage on my last day. it was fabulous and Anna had a wonderful technique. I would have had one everyday!!! Please make sure you book it on arrival. We had lunch 3 days at the pool restaurant and it was great. Staff were always so nice and attentive especially Patricio (hope I have spelling right). Thank you for your lovely smile everyday. Pool was wonderful and water temp glorious. Cannot wait to come back to this hotel.

Loved everything.

We arrived a little early, were welcomed and booked in without delay and shown to our room with great courtesy. the room was comfortable and well equipped. The food in the poolside restaurant and at breakfast was excellent. the hotel is very well sited on or above the beach and has every facility which could be expected.

Two minor matters: The lifts can be rather slow in coming and it was not obvious to me where to find the stairs. Secondly, we booked one of the evening shows with a meal included - a South American evening, if I remember rightly, - when I found the service less smooth and the show not quite what I had expected. It was, though, very slick and well performed.

The Algarve Casino Hotel has direct access to the stunning beach (via a stairway). It is spotlessly clean. Some may find the decor dated, but we found that it retro and with its own charm. The personnel are courteous and friendly. We would give special thanks to Nuno on reception and Ricardo, Ana, Olga & Viktor for their excellent service in the bars. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and will definitely be back.

The breakfast is very good but the room and buffet would be quite cramped if busy. We were lucky as it was quite a quiet period.

The Location, reception, bar and pool area were lovely and modern. Breakfast was also very good. We had a great holiday but this is nowhere close to 5 star. There was 8 of us and all agreed on this issue. Would i stay again yes but i would consider cheaper options with a higher standard.

I would not consider this 5 star. Rooms are very dated and our shower was broken. I reported it and although the staff seemingly looked at it nothing was done. Cheap toilet paper is a give away to the hotels actual quality. Dated decor in hallways.
