Sudima Hotel Christchurch Airport

Exceptionally polite helpful staff. We stayed there on the first and last days of our 17 day trip to New Zealand. On the 1st stay the staff very considerately let us transfer the breakfast that was included in the 2nd stay over to the first stay as we were leaving to fly home too early to have it on the 2nd stay. We were able to enjoy an excellent smorgasboard breakfast. On the 2nd stay we were given a surprise free upgrade. This was totally unexpected but very much appreciated. The room was lovely. The beds and pillows in both the rooms were great. We always stay at the Sudima Christchurch Airport when travelling to New Zealand and will continue to do so. Thank you Sudima

Nothing, everything was perfect for us

The location of the hotel is perfect for a layover. It is only walking distance from the airport however the hotel also provides a shuttle dependant on your mobility or amount of luggage. The rooms a spacious enough and the beds are very comfortable.

On leaving I asked whether the shuttle could drop me at the rental car office which was less than 2km from the hotel on the same street. The receptionist stated that "they didn't know if that was possible as it was busy" After much back and forth I finally got out of the reception "No it's too busy" I then walked to the rental car office, picked up the car and returned only to see that the shuttle hadn't moved. The receptionist didn't even check with the driver of the shuttle to see if it was feasible.

Perfect location, great rooms, clean and modern and well equipped. Great facilities in the hotel and next door at the shopping centre and restaurant strip.

Reception is hit and miss at this hotel (since the new management a few years back). I stay regularly, and can't figure out why they don't remember who I am from one visit to the next. I have tried the loyalty scheme ages ago but it was almost impossible to join and I have never been prompted at reception to become a 'member' or 'regular' or anything similar. It is annoying to be asked for the fiftieth time, 'have you stayed here before' when the answer is "YES, LAST WEEK!!" as in (yes, you specifically, have asked me this four times in the last month). They could have an express check out too. If they offer this, I have never been asked if I want it.

Super friendly check on staff. Close to airport with a free shuttle pick up and drop off with a friendly happy driver. Next door to eating establishments and a supermarket. Clean comfortable room with good selection of tea, coffee etc. Easy to find and easy to get onto the main roads to start or finish your travels.

After a long day on the road it would be nice to have a shower that has good pressure and an even temperature. unfortunately this hotel does not and we ran a bath instead using much more water than we would have if the shower had some pressure. This is the only thing that lets down a perfect stay. We would probably go back to the Novotel over the road because we know that has a great shower. We chose the Sudima because of its location and proximity to eatery’s but it was let down by the shower. I heard another guest telling reception the same thing as we checked out.

Stayed here as it was close to the airport between our domestic flight and early morning international flight. It was conveniently located and priced well compared to other options. Check-in was easy, the room excellent and comfortable. Being able to access food and beverage onsite at a late hour was much appreciated.

The menu options could have been a little more extensive, but in the grand scheme of things, perfectly reasonable.

Over and above, I messaged regarding my daughter with her coeliacs disease and anorexia nervosa, asking if there was access to a microwave anywhere so that I could heat her particular dinner. They replied that there wasn’t however, when we arrived we were informed that a microwave had been placed especially in our room along with a plate and cutlery. This made my life so much easier, I was planning on walking to the airport to use the microwave in a parents room. This was extremely thoughtful and conscientious of staff to follow through with this. Thank you so much!

I stayed at this airport hotel because it was the most economical hotel in the class I wanted in Christchurch. I would have preferred closer to town, but this worked out fine since there was a bus stop right outside the door, with frequent routes to the city center for only NZ $2.10. (I heard that NZ halved all public transportation prices because of Covid, then extended them because of Cyclone Gabriel.). So it took anywhere between 15 and 35 minutes to/from the city. Very easy. My room is as quiet, clean and the bed was comfortable. Had the usual tea kettle, coffee pot and refrigerator. There is a strip mall with a grocery store, so I bought breakfast food there, since the hotel breakfast was too pricey for me at $35, and there was a good coffee shop there too with breakfast food. Ate at an Indian restaurant at that mall which was awful. The Mexican restaurant was good. Would highly recommend this option of staying at a nice hotel at the airport not only because it’s affordable, but because I didn’t have to lug my luggage into the city.

Netflix or some other service for watching good movies.

We have been several times before and it feels like home

Last two times we were there we spent heaps on cocktails, this time they didn’t have the ingredients for our favourites so we hardly even drunk. The bar staff were not really interested, in fact the guy next to us had to go looking to try get some service. I have to say the man behind the desk when we checked out was amazing, he even drove us to the airport when the other van failed to show up for a very long time. Went above and beyond

Breakfast was fine & rooms were good

What I didn't like is we stayed there for 2 nights & the 1st night cost $290.40 NZ & in the morning we received breakfast with that price the the 2nd night we paid $339 NZ & no breakfast It was the same room & when the housekeep came to do the room I said not to worry just give me 2 clean towels which she did But what I am wondering WHY did we pay & extra $48 NZ for the same room & NO breakfast was included in that price So as that has happened to us I don't think we'll be staying there again cause I feel it's so wrong to be charging that extra $48 NZ

location was great, close to airport!

was given a room looking out at the forecourt, unfortunately this meant that we were woken up by rubbish being ejected into waste containers during the evening and night! the hotel site we saw showed an outdoor pool which had now been filled in and doesn’t exist! the room was adequate but lacked a full length mirror, it also had a very slippery shower floor plus the shower has nowhere to put your soap other than on the floor! there were only 3 tissues in the tissue box and nowhere to hang both towels to dry other than over the shower door which didn’t assist the second occupant! for an up market hotel price I would have expected USB ports in some plugs! A bit disappointing!
