InterContinental Kuala Lumpur, an IHG Hotel

+ Located near the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Nearby to KL City Centre and the Petronas Twin Towers, which are a 10-minute walk. Plenty of shopping nearby. + All rooms include hot tubs. + Very friendly and accommodating staff. + Wide variety of food for the daily free breakfast. With multiple restaurants inside the hotel, for lunch and dinner. + Amenities such as the pool, gym and spa. + Free bottled water provided daily.

- Relatively far from Pavilion KL, at a 25-minute walk. And during peak times, rideshare times are just as long. - Mini-fridge was stocked with pay-to-use drinks, which left little room for our own food; we could fit 6x 500mL bottles. - Swimming pool was frequently crowded as it was too small for the large number of rooms.

Pro’s: I stayed for around 10 days at the Intercontinental, and had a pleasant stay. Location wise it’s excellent, a short walk to KLCC, shops and restaurants and it’s on the busy Ampang road, making it easy accessible with taxi and public transport (Ampang Park). If you leave the hotel and go right you’l reach a small mall just by crossing the Tun Razak road. It has an excellent supermarket with good coffee and a large selection of ready meals and good wine, as well as several smaller but excellent venues. If you go left and take the first fly-over you’ll find a food truck park with good and very cheap Malay food. Room is quite big, with a good sized bathroom and an excellent bed. WiFi is good, and lighting can be adjusted in an easy way. AC was excellent, quiet and without a lot of wind blowing. Cleaning was done each day during my breakfast. Breakfast itself has a good spread of Malay and Indian food, and the usual choices of eggs and a small salad and fruit drink counter. Fresh noodles and all the trimmings too. Kudos to Jodhi and his team for recognizing me and giving me a bit of extra attention. Check-in and out was a breeze by competent employees. Pool and gym were extremely quiet except on weekends when there would be the occasional family gathering, but even then there was ample room. If you can get a good deal it’s an excellent choice.

Cons: Breakfast is a bit monotonous and lacks luxury items like smoked salmon. Fruit consists mostly of melon, melon and the occasional melon. And it can be impossibly busy during weekends, when even a part of the lobby is transformed with tables. Children galore. I felt uncomfortable when a Chinese lady appeared at breakfast in the bathrobe and slippers provided by the hotel. As I was considering upgrading myself to the club floor and lounge I found out that what you have to pay extra for each occasional day is the same as booking it for your stay. If you travel alone you pay the same as two people staying in a room. It’s around RM300 (EUR 60). For two persons it might be a reasonable price, for one person it isn’t worth it.

The location of the hotel is very convenient. The train is just located across the road. Very close to many eateries and just walking distance to the nearby malls. Hotel staffs were all really friendly and helpful, concierge staff even helped me through my process of car rental there. Room was clean and breakfast was excellent.

The mattress and pillows were too soft, not to my preference 😅 had back aches afterwards. Since we were staying in most of the time, the TV channels were limited and no access to netflix or other streaming apps, water heater in the shower sometimes working and sometimes not working.

The location where this hotel is the main advantage.. They have smoking options on their rooms..

THE FOOD.. Keeping the name intercontinental,they have only their local food..

Buffet Dinner was excellent. Location is great. Ambiance in the lobby is superb. Staff, especially Nitha was very helpful.

Communication between booking.com and the Intercontinental needs to improve as we booked a rate incl. breakfast and dinner but at the hotel we were told it only covered two adults but the kids are being charged separately. This kind of confusion should be avoided. And who would book some meals for themselves and not for the children while traveling as a family?

Intercontinental, Kuala Lumpur I spend nine nights with you, you gave me unforgettable memories in this hotel, I just feel like I’m Home . Everything was perfect, the kindness of the staff, special thanks for breakfast crew it’s just nice to start your day with very warm smiles. The room space was fitting for three adults, and the cleaning of the room was awesome, thanks for housekeeping stuff. In the check-in they give us a room at higher floors, thank for front desk man. At the end, i highly recommend InterContinental Kuala Lumpur hotel for your next vacation.

room is spacious and clean. complete toiletries and comfortable slippers are provided. i like that they gave us complete set of towels. Also the Japanese restaurant at Level 1 is very good.

The only thing not nice about this hotel is the Breakfast. eggs are usually not cooked, and choices of menu needs to be improved and food is tasteless. in my 3day stay, i only ate croissant and coffee

On the first day of check-in, while my husb was showering and i was resting on bed, i heard faint sounds of the door bell. thinking it came fr the other room, i ignored it. I then heard my room door was opened and was shocked to see an Indian man peeping at the door. He said he was the housekeeper and asked if i needed any bottled water?Didnt he knows that the room was occupied and that he was not supposed to open the door if it was locked? Lucky that i had the door chain locked!

Location great, train station across the road, bus stop outside to the hotel. Hop on & off outside the hotel. Executive room: very pleased with the size and it being cleaned twice a day. Our room had both a walk in shower and a bath. Thanks to the young man who kept our room clean & tidy. Free 3 pieces of laundry washed and ironed for free. Staff in the Executive Lounge are first class. Specially Harry. Brilliant in looking after my dietary needs since I suffer from celiac disease. The other team members need thanking are Ovi and Rahul. It's one of the best Executive Lounge experiences we had. The afternoon tea was excellent and the drinks and food in the evening were delicious. The Lounge itself is a lovely calm area. We had our breakfast downstairs in the main dinning area. So much choice, everything was fresh and the cooked good (Indian, Chinese, Malay etc) very good. Tea \coffee served to you instead of having to get it yourself. All staff members in the restaurant were very helpful and provide a first class service. Ishtiaq deserves a special mention. The chefs greeted me on my first visit to the breakfast area and asked me what they could provide that was gluten free. Very thoughtful and caring. So thanks to the kitchen staff. Members of senior staff introduce themselves if they are in the lift or around the hotel. Willing to discuss your experiences at their hotel. This could be an Inter. Cont. unique point since we had a similar experience in their sister hotel in Saigon.

Hotel is in a great location, close to the trainline and walkable to the KLCC shopping mall. Staff are so friendly and polite. Room was beautiful, huge bed with the biggest pillows….all very comfy. Bathroom was well equipped with beautiful soft white towels. We stayed in a club room and used the main restaurant on the ground floor for breakfast. Staff couldn’t do enough for us. Food choice was amazing, lots of different breakfast foods from lots of different countries. Would definately recommend this hotel and would stay here again.
