Hotel Cayuga

Beautiful clean & modern facility since remodel. Rooms were very nice. Staff was friendly & helpful. Bar made very good drinks, shakes, etc. We didn't eat in the restaurant except traditional Tico breakfast, which was good. We did see the fish tacos, which looked delicious.

My only suggestion as an older person once 60's is that the water temperature fir shower was on the lukewarm side, cool actually. Which is probably good for most coming in from the hot & humid outside, but took a bit of getting used too. I would turn up the water temp a modest 5 degrees should do it for us "mature" older clients. But, this was a minor inconvenience, I gave 5 stars because they deserve it.

The bed and bathroom were super clean overall. The staffs were friendly and would always check on us. I enjoyed the outdoor pool in the center of the hotel. Pinto was served for breakfast and it was good! I was worried about WIFI because there were no reviews left about this, but Wifi connection was stable and strong (except for 10-15 minutes when there was a power outage). Also, the bus terminal is within walking distance!

There's no shampoo and conditioner provided in the bathroom. Since it's a beach town, it gets humid and my hair gets super greasy. So that was a bummer.

Staff were so helpful and kind. We needed a late checkout because our car broke down and we needed to have it fixed in town. They granted a late checkout, stored our luggage, and kindly allowed us to enjoy their pool and facilities until our car was ready at 3PM (4 hours after checkout). The food was also great. Gallo Pinto and plantains and fresh fruit and huevos made up the breakfast buffet. This was a last-minute booking when our car died coming through town and we'd stay again, easily, anytime.

Apparently it is a renovated property and they did a good job. Secure parking, which is a big plus. Kitchen facilities with eating space and tables outside. Interesting lighting scheme in the room - choice between blue and white light. Convenient to the ferry. Very helpful staff.

Restaurant is pretty good but portions are kind of like bar food. My only real beef was that music was piped into the courtyard and pool area. I didn’t particularly mind the music but it was loud and repeated as if in a loop. We encountered this at another new hotel. It seems to be a “thing.” Hopefully they’ll figure out that some guests aren’t necessarily in a partying mood and may want a quieter atmosphere. Also, not the hotel’s fault but a few noisy guests from one family seemed to monopolize the pool.

It’s a pretty new hotel, so they are working out the kinks I’d say. Our 2 entrees from the restaurant were probably a 4/10. Veggies on the cool side, not warm at all. Didn’t taste any coconut in the coco shrimp breading. As well as it being too thick breading. Drinks were great, but very slow service. Would have had more drinks, but took so long between finishing a drink and getting a new drink. Overall, staff was excellent and very friendly. I think once the speed of service picks up and some kitchen improvements, it’ll easily be a 10/10

I liked it a lot, the hotel is new, the room is very nice, comfortable. Friendly, helpful satff. The breakfast very rich. I recommend having a coffe with the chocolate cake in the afternoon. Very rich!! Thanks to the hotel staff, very happy with my stay, I hope to return if God allows it.

The pool area is small, wich makes the guests very close, but nevertheless it is understandable. The parking very safe, but small. As an observation, I lacked the coffee maker in the room and suddenly a small refrigerator.

If for some reason you have to stay in Puntarenas, definitely stay here. We came early and our room was not ready yet, but we could hang out at the pool. The room

The shower door doesn't have this rubber strip that prevents the water from coming under it, so a big puddle ended up on the floor. Breakfast is terrible. I'm already used to Costa Ricans not eating sweet stuff for breakfast, but they literally only had pinto. We asked if they at least had toast and jam, so they brought us that. The toast tasted like it was 2 weeks old, so we ended up not even eating that.

Completely renovated hotel right on the outskirts of town. All of the facilities were brand new and you could tell they're still working on upgrading more. Very modern rooms with great air conditioning and an excellent parking garage. The continental breakfast was outstanding. The late night bar was great too. People might complain about the neighborhood because it's a working class area, but don't let that deter you. Everyone was friendly.

The hot tub wasn't really 'hot,' but it was so hot there anyways it didn't matter to us.

Super clean place. Rooms are perfect, beds are comfortable, bathrooms are big and very clean. Air conditioners work great and as I am always hot that was nice. The staff are all incredibly nice, accommodating and most are bilingual (Spanish/English). I highly recommend this hidden gem. The pool area and var is also great.

To say there is something we didn't like would be a stretch. We loved it all, seriously.

Probably one of the best stays based on the price. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. You can even use the apps on the TV to connect to your streaming service account and the WiFi worked well. Didn't use the pool, but it also looked very well maintained. Location is ideal as well with free parking available in a closed area.

I think the breakfast could use a menu, it would make it a bit easier. More breakfast options would be nice as well!
