Hotel Ficus - Monteverde

Beautiful property and located very close to stores and bakeries. The staff is exceptional. Will go back again for sure.

Outstanding room (and view if you are lucky!). the room was big, modern and clean, and my balcony was much welcomed to see the sunset. the bed is comfortable and the bedding cozy. the breakfast was satisfying and quick. the staff was friendly and helpful with regards to activities and transport. while this is not exactly in the Center, it is a small town and just a few minutes away. close to a supermarket, nice restaurants and gift boutiques, and the central bank. Highly satisfied of this hotel.

The gym has very little material - don’t count on a training there. For you here travellers, I would advise to eat dinner at restaurants in town. the one of the hotel is very quiet and may not have the atmosphere or view that you want.

Beautiful and peaceful hotel within walking distance to “downtown” restaurants. The room was huge and my family of four didn’t feel like we were on top of one another. Also, the breakfast was outstanding and the breakfast room was super tranquil. I’d stay again for sure.

The room did not have air conditioning, however. We were on a lower level and it was not too hot but I would imagine the higher rooms would heat up.

Very friendly, helpful reception; good location; nice, spacious room; clean and quiet.

Breakfast - a Cappuccino from the swiss coffee machine costs extra, an omelette costs extra, little bowl of fruit (cut and kept overnight in the fridge) instead of good selection of local fruits as part of the buffet; no bread selection and only strange jam and peanut butter; pancake syrup seemed watered-down; kitchen staff standing around chatting instead of serving customers.

The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful, making the stay truly feel personal. Location was perfect, near the town but also on a hill so you got beautiful views of the mountains from the hotel. The rooms were surrounded by greenery so animals could be heard and seen from the comfort of your room. Happy hour at the restaurant was fun to do in the afternoons, great view of the sunset. Would definitely stay here again.

The restaurant prices were a bit steep, and the breakfast portions were a bit small.

The hotel is located just steps from the Santa Elena center. The rooms are huge! Very clean and decorated, the beds are large and comfortable. The breafast is fresh and delicious and the dining room staff gives good service. The reception staff gives exceptional service, every request / question was answered kindly. They work up to until 10 pm and have excellent English. There is free parking area. Overall great vaule for you money ! 

The room has no air conditioning or heating. And the faucet in the shower is challenging, especially when you want to shower with boiling water.

Great room on the highest level with views right over Monteverde but I imagine it could be tough if you have mobility issues. The room was massive and the access to discounted rates at the Salvetura adventure park was well worth it. We only had breakfast in the hotel and eat all other meals in town particularly The Green and Choco Cafe both just down the road.

Service at breakfast wasn't the best.

Our room was a great size, we had a corner unit on the second floor so at night opening both door walls created an incredible cross breeze that made you glad there were comforters for the beds. No need for air conditioning. The nights are beautiful. It is a good location and you can walk almost anywhere as long as you don’t mind up and down hills. That said is the only drawback to this hotel. Our room was at the back of the property and the only parking is in the front by check in. After walking around town the last thing you want to do is walk uphill all the way to get to your building, then walk up stairs to the second floor. The view is spectacular from the room and the bathroom/ shower is very nice. I believe we would stay here again but only if we had a unit close to the entrance.

No Parking by the room. Have to walk up hill to get to the room. Hope you didn’t forget anything in the vehicle because that’s another walk down and up again!

The first thing, I loved about the property is how easily everything was booked and managed. Upon arrival (at night) I loved the seclusion yet how lit the property is. There were lower room and upper rooms. We stayed in a upper room and it was absolutely worth the money. The hills to get to the rooms are KILLER but worth the view. Once you’re in the room, it’s absolutely breathtaking. Once you open your sliding doors to the balcony you can see the ocean, plus the clouds from the rainforest and a great view of downtown Santa Elena. The staff, I seriously can’t rave enough about them. They were all so helpful, pleasant and respectful. They made sure to know you were welcomed and pleased. Any questions that we had about travel, attractions, restaurants they were happy to answer. I also loved that breakfast was included every morning of our stay. There were 3 options to choose from: 1) típico (traditional Costa Rican breakfast), 2) pancakes with eggs, and 3) tostadas (toasted bread) with eggs and you can pair it with coffee, tea, water, or OJ. Breakfast had the best view too! The beds and pillows were exactly like sleeping on a cloud, they were so comfy! Word to the wise and hot blooded people, there are no ceiling fans in the room but when you have the sliding doors open the room is actually fresh. Other than that the room was fantastic!

It’s nothing negative but maybe a future good investment would be a golf cart to take up the guests to their rooms after a long day of traveling or excursions.

The reception staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Food in the restaurant was excellent as were the waiting staff. The view from our room was really amazing.
