The hotel was well maintained and very clean. There was a communal kitchen with hot water, tea, instant coffee, a microwave, and a toaster. The shared toilets and shower were always clean. I loved the location of the room.

I would have loved access to a hot plate and drip or French press coffee. They advertised as having continental breakfast, but did not.

We were pleasantly surprised to stumble upon this gem, the Hayes Valley Inn which is located in such a neat part of town with fantastic restaurants and boutique stores. The room was clean and tidy, with room service every day (for our 5 night stay). We were surprised that we never had cross-overs with other guests to use the shared bathroom facilities (which were very clean - and cleaned daily). The kitchenette on the first floor was handy for coffee/tea breaks and/or requiring refrigeration or microwaves. We would highly recommend staying here if you want to be in a safer part of town and just an overall cool and hip place to hang out!

The fact that there is no elevator - which they did warn us about before booking, however it was just a bit of effort to haul our very heavy suitcases (23kg / 50 lbs) up the stairwell.

Location is terrific, right amongst the bars, restaurants and coffee shops. Not noisy though. It's a very easy going experience but don't expect all the modern conveniences. The old world charm is real! Having a basin in the room is a bonus, but necessary. Lounge and kitchen areas are great. Handy ice machine!

Bathrooms and toilets are small but clean. Despite being shared facilities there were no problems. There was no secure luggage storage but again no worries. The electronic key system requires access to receiving an SMS which wasn't possible with my e-SIM but the staff worked it out for me.

I liked the keyless modern fast check in and check, the location is very good - near to public transportation, restaurants, boutiques and relatively safe, walkable tourist sites and relatively quiet.

There was no elevator, which was expected since this is not a modern accomodation, so carrying large luggages was a challenge. However, we appreciated it that way because it forced us to use the stairs which is good for our health.

The bathroom and bath area was super clean. The location is great and everyone is super helpful.

I liked the charm of the old house and the sunny kitchen space where you can make yourself tea or coffee. The room was clean, and the neighborhood was nice and central. Our room was not facing the street so it was quiet.

I didn't like that our room couldn't have the window opened and there is just one shower available in the corridor, which was busy sometimes. But we were aware of the common shower and toilet before booking our stay so it was fine for us.

Great place for a lower budget! Very comfy, great neighbourhood, close to walk or catch the bus places! Good kitchen facilities, and restrooms/ bathrooms on every level. It's next to some great restaurants and bars, and in walking distance to the Pretty Ladies! The rooms have everything you need, including a sink, draws, wardrobe, etc.

No laundry facilities, but there's a laundromat around the corner. Kitchen is on the first upstairs level at the end and provides coffee products only (from what I could tell).

Awesome staff and locale.

The room key is an app that did not work on my phone - I had to wait with my wife, toddler and bags for 45 minutes for someone to come from a different property to let us in. It's crazy that there's no receptionist at Hayes Valley most of the time. The one who came was a superstar - but the poor guy is responsible for five different hotels at once! This is no way to manage a place where guests are arriving after long journeys and will have even small issues/questions.

Room was comfortable, small, but clean. The only negative is that I have stayed here 6 times before and have on 5 occasions requested the use of an iron and ironing board. Unfortunately that request has always been ignored until I do a follow-up request once I have arrived at the property. I know this is a little 'thing' but it is annoying and I would hope that the staff would be a bit more responsive to the requests of their guests.

The location was amazing and the place was really clean. I really liked the keyless key, one less thing to worry about. No check in or our procedure! The room was really spacious.

The place is very old and dated, which meant that it didn't have soundproofing. I was on the 3rd floor and I could hear what's going on in the street and my very loud neighbour as well. So bring earplugs.
