Location and Olde Worldie. Food and service were excellent. Really appreciated the fan in the room .

Just little niggles. No shelf in the bathroom other that little glass shelf for glasses. There was room behind the door for a little shelf that would have saved toilet bags left on the floor. No shower mat for a very slippery shower base. Had to use bath mat for safety. Only noticed tiny notice that shower mats were available from reception when getting in the shower. A bit late to go running down to get one. As the notice admits that the shower base is slippery, why not just supply one in the room?

Lovely pub, lots of character. Meals were nice and good value for money. The staff were attentive and friendly. The room was comfortable and clean.

Parking was an issue on one of the nights. The car park has spaces for 7 cars and they have 9 guest rooms. This can't be helped, but after being out all day it wasn't great having to find parking in a town where it is all permit parking, This could be a consideration for some before booking. One of the reasons I chose the place was because it said it had parking. The carpet in the room was very stained and needed cleaning or replacing, although in general the room was very clean.

The staff was very friendly and helpful (especially the woman running the pub when we did the check-in... apologies, I do not remember her name... but she was great in helping us find parking), the food was really good, the beds were very comfortable. We LOVED that despite being super-busy and with a fantastic, buzzy atmosphere in the evening (great place to go out, btw), the noise did not reach the rooms. Even fussy sleepers in the family slept like a log! :)

It could do with a little bit of maintenance on the walls' aspect, but this is not significant. The place was extremely clean, so the few painting issues could perfectly be disregarded.

spotless, comfy beds, parking and nice helpful staff plus any food that we had there was nicely cooked

some minor changes could make it even better… just for hand soap on the basins - if this was in smaller dispensers it would be easier to use ( because it’s in big shower dispensers, it falls off the basin). Also - when we checked in I asked if semi skimmed milk was available behind the bar to take in a jug and use for tea in the rooms - only full fat was kept. It would be handy if the pub had semi skimmed as standard since it was easily available for breakfast. maybe softer pillows. However- these are tiny issues and I thought that the accommodation was excellent.

Adam the landlord is a great host, he made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. All the staff were friendly, helpful and seemed genuinely happy to be working there. Comfortable, good sized bedroom with huge shower, TV, tea/coffee facilities. Very good breakfast and lots of options. Perfect location for waking into town and close to the Abbey, free parking at the back of the pub. Although we didn't eat dinner there, the restaurant was very popular on Friday evening with a good atmosphere.

Shower was a bit temperamental but powerful once I got it working! Rooms could do with updating, but were very clean and apparently a refurb is in the pipeline.

Location great for attending a gig at The Apex. Room good, despite top floor. Other than expressed below, this was a great stay in the centre of Bury St. Edmunds. Generally, all a good experience. On a Friday night, this flagship pub/hotel is rocking. We decided that we would stay there again.

For an old git, a clearer explanation of the availability of Wi-Fi would have been good. The "appearance" of Wi-Fi stuff at Reception, too much going on at check-in, when checking out prompted the question. Where was it? Nothing apparent on checking in. This may have been a generational thing? We didn't search for Wi-Fi in the absence of a direction. I think both sides may have benefited from this exchange.

Well positioned for the Cathedral and Abbey Gardens. The staff were friendly and very helpful Understanding we had mobility problems Ellie arranged for us to have a ground floor room giving us easy access for breakfast. Much appreciated!

The car park for residents was very small, and no parking available close by. The one-way streets were very confusing at first, but having acquired a town centre map from the Cathedral Tourist /Information Shop in Angel Hill, (a five minute walk from the inn), it made it much easier for driving around the town.

Breakfast there was a good choice and food nicely presented and cooked to our liking Eve meal was excellent Staff very friendly - helpful and attentive Chloe one of the staff helped carry cases to the room and back down to car after stay - she was a very cheerful lady and Hotel must be happy to have her working for them she was great Had slight problem trying to park but staff came to my assistance and got people to park more responsibly allowing me access we had a huge laugh doing this Overall Manger and his staff made our stay lovely thank you to you all

Only one suggestion - provision of a shower mat to prevent slipping

The checking in was fast, efficient. The room was great, facilities laid out well, shower powerful and hot. There was a sofa bed in the room and great as added seating. There was an iron and ironing board, and a hairdryer. The ambience was great, and welcoming. This is the best greene King I have stayed in. Very impressed. The towels were large and fluffy! Well situated for the town centre.

The pillows were hard! Other than that no compaints, and lights low.

Adam the landlord was extremely friendly despite being very busy. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived. The rooms were clean and the location is perfect. A busy and buzzing environment, unsurprisingly since the professionalism of the way it is run.

I suppose if I had to say anything negative a few bits on the menu ran out quite early on the Saturday even though it was quite early and we had booked as well. I ordered a cheese toastie instead which was a bit too well cooked ... but I was having too much fun to care!
