Volkshaus Basel Hotel

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The lobby has a very artistic feel to it, and the interior courtyard is an oasis in the city. The room was quiet and soothing with lovely wood and tile details. I liked that every floor had a station for free water, coffee and tea. Breakfast had all the essentials, including croissants that may have been even more delicious than in Paris. Excellent location with everything within walking distance. It’s also great that you get free public transport tickets for the duration of your stay. Other cities should take an example. Everything considered, this hotel is more than worth its pricetag. It would be an absolute pleasure to stay here again.

My only regret is that we booked the smallest room instead of one category up or a corner room.

This is not an hotel problem, but it is better to justify by "four starts" in the confort section: my room was in front of a church and the bell was continuing to play every quarter (even during the night)! Of course this is not a problem of the hotel, but better to explain this to the other traveller, maybe they could ask a room in the opposite side!!!

The hotel was easy to reach, tram stop is less than 50 meters from the hotel. Very clean hotel overall, including the bed, room and bathroom itself. But the thing we liked was the service from everyone working at the hotel, as coincidentally my wife's birthday was during the stay and everyone congratulated her. And an extra thanks to Anastasiia for her kindness and help.

There are only minor things we can think of that we didn't like. For instance, there was not a closed closet in the room, there is a rack on which you can hang clothes. Another would be that the temperature in the room was a bit on the higher side, but that was probably because it were hotter days.

Friendly staff and great location with multiple tram stops outside/walking distance to attractions and restaurants. The rooms were stylish and spotlessly clean! We were on the top floor and slept soundly. We arrived in December to freezing weather but room was cosy and warm upon our arrival, which was a lovely touch.

The room was stylish but lacked practical touches, such as plugs either side of the bed, a lack of storage/hanging space, and no fridge or tea/coffee making facilities in the room (although there was a beverage station with these on each floor of the hotel). The breakfast buffet was rather expensive, with hot food options an additional charge (except for a boiled egg). These didn’t disrupt our experience and we still had a lovely stay but they would have just made it perfect!

The location of the hotel is fantastic, so convenient. The Staff on the front desk were exceptional especially the male who works in the evenings. The beds were very comfy, I love the idea of having two duvets. We were able to leave our bags at the hotel after check out time which allowed us to explore the city further without carrying our suitcases. The tea/coffee bar on every floor is very unique and provides extra value for money and is a unique point. Me and my partner felt so welcomed and safe, he even got a birthday gift off the hotel which was so heartwarming and generous of them. By staying at the hotel we got free travel on bus/trams and we got 50% off the zoo & museum, this itself is a reason why the hotel was worth the price. Would definitely come back again and stay In this exact hotel. Room 406 was spacious but comfy & cozy. Very satisfied, 10/10!

Basel can be a pretty expensive city to visit, but this hotel is certainly worth its money. It's brand new and has very stylish, beautiful rooms. I would like to thank also Anastacia at the reception, who gave us the most pleasant welcome after a long day of travel. She also solved a small problem for us, when it was something she didn't have to do. She made our stay even more memorable. I would recommend Volkshaus Basel to every one!

This hotel is the most valuable hotel of the trip for me, most of the things you asking them to helps they will do it for your with no doubt , all staffs are very friendly the room is so perfect ... a lot of space in the room ... perfect room layout

it would be better if we can have a fridge in the room but, if we really need to keep something cold we can ask the reception to keep them for us.

Stylish smart hotel in a good location. Very warm and friendly welcome. Comfortable room with the added bonus of complimentary fresh fruit, water (still & sparkling) and tea and coffee on each corridor. Fantastic breakfast too!! Would highly recommend this hotel as the perfect place to stay in Basel

Nothing at all except the price but that’s Switzerland for you!

The instructions for late arrival, I inserted the code several times and didn’t work. The pillows were not firm and extremely soft. The shower is a head shower no rain shower 😔

- Some of the room are facing the street and the opposite of the church with the bell. That bell strikes every 30 min, so sleep quality is questionable. They provide ear plugs though. - the rooms are lacking some hangers… not enough if you are there for several days and have more than 1 change of clothes.
