Tivoli Palácio de Seteais Sintra Hotel - The Leading Hotels of the World

The staff at this hotel are all incredible; some have been in employment for 30+ years and they are all extremely helpful, kind and professional. My waiters at dinner & breakfast were attentive & charming, not at all intrusive. The spa manager, Catia is on another level altogether; she is an outstanding, intuitive, holistic therapist who offers an 'experience', not just a treatment. Must get a treatment from her while staying at this hotel. Breakfast is an exquisite banquet: local, traditional pastries & cakes, fresh fruits, cheeses, full honeycomb, freshly squeezed juices, hot options... Wow!

The evening tasting menu is overpriced for what you get; the skin of the grouper fish wasn't crisp and the brulee was not by far the best I've ever tried. The cheese board was very basic. I'd said prior to my arrival that I can't have Sulphur Dioxide but they still served bread containing dried fruits with the cheese board; a lack of communication between Reception and the kitchen.

This was an absolute delight. The hotel itself is gorgeous, with gardens, an exquisite dining area and beautiful rooms. Everything is spotless and elegant. The staff is welcoming, helpful and really made us feel like royalty. I celebrated my birthday while we stayed there and the staff did everything they could to make it special, which it was. They also offer spa treatments which are a real treat! Staying at this majestic establishment is a unique experience which I highly recommend.

One of the loveliest hotels I have stayed at. The palace was beautiful and a complete pleasure to stay at. My room was beautiful, as were the hotel and grounds. The hospitality was fantastic - from the fresh lemonade at check-in, to the welcome pastries and port, to the kind and always helpful staff. One of the best parts was the pool, with fabulous views of the countryside. Breakfast buffet was delicious and generous. The food in the main restaurant was excellent.

The mattress in my room was quite hard.

This hotel is impeccably run by a well-motivated and charming staff who could not do enough to provide for our comfort. The room was spacious the bed comfortable - the bed linen of the highest quality and the bathroom had all one would expect of a 'leading' hotel. We had two excellent dinners in the restaurant and the chef specially made a dish that had been on their menu 35 years previously that I remembered! We will long remember our stay in the absolutely first class hotel.

The breakfast was fantastic: a beautiful display of fresh fruits, meats , cheeses , fresh breads & pastries, delicately prepared and beautifully presented; service was quietly professional ensuring a wonderful start to the day. Our elegantly decorated bedroom was peaceful,delightfully appointed,, immaculately presented with dual aspect views of the parterre gardens, pool and valley - the bed was generous and ensured a blissful night's sleep. The Spa, situated in a serene building in the gardens of the hotel, was heavenly: we had a number of treatments and felt that Catia's professional skill, kindness and intuitive ability to personalise treatments, using individually selected aromatherapy oil and tailoring the massage rather than just sticking to a prescriptive menu,(I had just sustained a knee injury), were exceptional and the Spa experience was undoubtedly the stand out of our enjoyable relaxed stay in this lovely property.

My husband would have loved gym facilities - even just a weights bench and exercise bike etc. Whilst our room was lovely and immaculately decorated and maintained, it was a shame that the windows were dirty on the outside and had at some point been very sloppily painted. The TV was enormous, on a modern stand and would have been hidden away, or a smaller scale as it rather dominated and was at odds with the old school charm of this historic building.

The palace is magnificent, finely decorated, a pleasure to the eye. The pool and garden are gorgeous. Nice breakfast and game room. Friendly staff.

Expensive. Rooms feel small, compared to the spacious common areas.

it’s so unique & such a beautiful location. The staff is wonderful. So welcoming. We especially liked Diego who gave us tons of history & information about the hotel! He was great. Also Beatrice lovely. Service excellent & very specific to us individually. We will definitely come back! Very easy to access from Lisbon. our first trip to Portugal & we loved it!!

There is nothing we didn’t like! Except that we only stayed ones night. That was a mistake. We should have skipped Coimbra & stayed here for 3 nights!

Our stay was absolutely amazing and we would 100% recommend it to anyone and everyone! To stay in a historic palace is incredibly special, but the service was also on par. We were made to feel welcome by the staff, but not over the top which I sometimes feel at very high-end hotels. Our room was beautiful and full of little details. We enjoyed the welcome pastries and port on our first day. And the breakfast was phenomenal! We spent time in the gardens and enjoyed afternoon tea - all adding to our palace experience!

Nothing, our stay was perfect!

The palace where the hotel is located is amazing with great history value, there are many beautiful items and paintings from the past times. Very close to the Quinta da Regaleira. Good breakfast. Great SPA.

The public transportation could be better. There is only one bus stying near the hotel and I found myself getting to the place I wanted to visit (Pena palace, boorish castle, Sintra city center) faster by foot rather than waiting for the bus to arrive.

A gorgeous old palace, located above the chaos of central Sintra, surrounded by trees and gardens. Superb pool, gorgeous gardens, wonderful breakfast. Felt like going back in time.

The staff were friendly but not very helpful and sometimes it felt like we were inconveniencing them when we had questions. They did not go out of their way to offer help or advice.
