Great location, extremely clean! Our room was nice and quiet and we had a great night's sleep. Hosts were very kind and accommodating. We had to leave very early in the morning to catch our train and they had not set up for breakfast yet, but the host was so kind. As he was preparing a wonderful breakfast arrangement, he offered us things that we could take with us on our way out.
Toilet and shower were in the bedroom, as stated, but were separately enclosed with glass walls (opaque/frosted, so they were not see through). It did not provide much privacy, and stepping out of the shower directly into the bedroom was rather odd, but if that does not bother you, the room itself was great!

Lovely spacious room with great views. Awesome location, great breakfast. My room was on the 1st floor & was a bit noisy, so next time I would just request a room on the top floor, as the walls and floors are not sound proof, also there was an echo from the corridor, so it was a bit too noisy for me. Otherwise no complains.
Noise from the upper rooms, very thin floors and walls. Also there was an echo from the corridor and slamming doors, maybe good idea to put carpet on the stairs to reduce the echo. It is better probably to book rooms on the top floor. Otherwise no complains.

All was great, we did a late check-in by ourself, and we had some cake waiting for us... it was a very nice little surprise. Then we got an upgrade in our room, another surprise, and the room it was great. Big, clean, gorgeous, modern, but still with a sintra touch, and from the balcony we could see Quinta da Regaleira, and have a look to the sea in the distance. In the morning, we met some of the staff, very kind and helpful. And to finish, a great breakfast, in a very cute breakfast room. We loved the place. The decoration. The location. All great. Well done!

We especially loved the homely friendly atmosphere and helpfulness of the staff. The location was brilliant - right at the top of the Old Town and handy to so many things. The breakfast had good variety and plenty of fruit choices. There was also tea and cake available free of charge at any time and a self serve honesty fridge. There were comfy areas to sit at any time. The bedroom was spacious with a little balcony to sit out on. The shower was excellent. Sintra is a wonderful place to visit for a few days - lots to see. I especially recommend the Quinta da Regaleira which is easy walking distance from the guest house.
Nothing really but people need to be aware that there’s no on-site parking and a quick drop-off is required. But it was easy for the guest house to order a taxi and there are also lots of tuk tuks etc. One minor suggestion for the breakfast would be to also have a sugar free muesli and/or rolled oats option to complement the sweeter cereals.

The location and the staff were amazing. Close enough to walk everywhere. Lovely breakfast and extremely kind hosts.
The lack of a/c made the stay uncomfortable since it was very hot out. The lack of parking also made our stay less than ideal.

Upon arrival the staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. We arrived early in the day and our room wasn't clean yet but we could leave our suitcases in the room while heading out to explore Sintra. The bed was very comfortable and the room an ok size given we really only slept in there. Breakfast the next morning was plentiful and super yummy.
The way a toilet and shower were added to the room was strange. It does not provide too much privacy when going to the toilet. It was ok for the 1 night we stayed there. The shower also did not have a lot of pressure.

Loved the location which is just above the historic centre of Sintra and literally right across the road from a great restaurant called Tascantiga! The room was smallish but the bed was super comfy and the pillows were great. A really clever design in a moderate sized room with a big glassed-in shower with plenty of hot water and a separate toilet also glassed-in. We had a lovely view from our little window and we were very comfortable. The breakfast was great! Way better than lots of European hotels with fresh fruit, croissants, eggs, bread, cold meat and cheese, cereals, yoghurt, etc. Really enjoyed a big breakfast each day as a great start to lots of walking. Sintra is super hilly and there are steps everywhere including up to our room but we enjoyed every minute even when it was raining! 😄
We couldn't find any shampoo or conditioner and the shower only had liquid soap which is not my preference without a sponge or wash cloth. Minor issue though. The roof of our room sloped above part of the bed but we didn't mind as we knew this in advance and the property was great in all other ways.

Convenient location to all of the tourist sites and close to old town center. Comfortable bed. We stayed two nights in the big Flor de Urze room and two nights in the very small Flor de Rosmaninho room. We much preferred the big room. See my other 2-night review for details of both. I strongly recommend you spend the extra money and get the big room.
The small room (Rosmaninho) in the attic was hot. The small window and portable fan didn’t produce enough airflow to get the room cool. The shower and toilet rooms lacked ventilation to remove humid and smelly air.

The hosts ( Ana, Manuel) are amazing, we were accomodated all needs during our 4 days stay. They offered us useful tips and were all rhe time at our disposal, with much kindness and hospitality . There is always tea and delicious home made cakes at guests'disposal and a useful guide on Portugal and flyers at the reception. The breakfast is also very good. Rooms are not big but very comfortable and decorated in an artistic style, matching Sintra legendary gist. The location is also great, in the old part of Sintra, close to palaces and monuments. However mind the steepy streets and stairs nearby,, quite challenging for elder people. Overall- a perfect guest house! I fully recommend
Really nothing, all was so great!

We stayed in Sintra at the Aguamel for four nights. We had the Flor de Urze (duplo superior) room for the first two nights. The Flor de Urze room is cute and is adequately spacious. The room has a long balcony (which is shared with the room next door, but you have your own table/chairs) overlooking the garden and neighborhood. The room does not have air conditioning, but we visited in September and the evenings were sufficiently cool to comfortably sleep if we left the windows open. There is a bar with outdoor seating in the neighborhood that stays open until 1200 or 0100, so if you leave your windows open, the chatter and banter from the bar patrons can go from quiet background murmurs up to the level of impassioned group sing-a-long. With that said, I had no problem falling asleep and staying asleep. The second two nights we stayed in the Flor de Rosmaninho room. This room is located in the top floor of the hotel. There is one very small window and one skylight. The room is long and narrow. The room lacked the airflow we had enjoyed in the Flor de Urze room on the level below. (The room does have a small portable fan.) We found the room to be hot and had a difficult time falling asleep. The Rosmaninho bathroom is very close to the bed because the room is so small, and neither the shower nor the toilet closet had a ventilation fan to extract humid or smelly air. The location of Aguamel is incredibly convenient to access the walking trails to Pena Palace, the Moorish Castle, etc. There is also a dependable stand of tuktuks on the street corner just behind the hotel that is ready to whisk you away to the tourist destinations or the train/bus stations. Give yourself plenty of time in Sintra. There are more castles, palaces, mansions, and assorted sites to see than you could possibly fit into 5 days. But, do yourself a favor and get the BIG room at Aguamel.
The shower didn’t have a shelf or similar location to place my soap and shampoo. The toilet was in its own closet and it was very difficult to shut the door and keep it closed.
