La Boheme Highly recommended! This lovely old place is nestled perfectly in the centre of the old walled city, only a few minutes walk from any of the main attractions, as well as an easy walk from Lucca's main train station. They have several rooms designed and furnished in old European styles. Be warned, the hotel is situated on the 1st floor (one up from the ground) and has no lift (to our knowledge) from the front entrance. The website shows a useable car park. We would like to say a big thank you to Deborah and Chiara for making our stay a wonderful one. Both were ever so helpful, patient and friendly, wether it was serving food or advice. Our only quips with the place is that some of the walls are rather thin, resulting in some lack of privacy if people are too loud. Happily, none of our neighbours were. And I only wish that they would supply slippers in winter and spring as the floor, made of tiles, can get quite cool/cold.

B&B La Bohemè, Lucca, located in the heart of the historic part of town within the city walls (ZTL), is a bit of a challenge to find. Goggle maps and any Sat. Nav. can get confused. We found our destination on an actual physical, Micheline map and made our way to Piazza San Salvatore near the B&B, where we found our hosts Marco and Debora. We rang the door bell and Marco arrived to help with our bags, we had 2 heavy duffels that the two of us would carry each bag together up stairs. Marco grabbed both bags and bounded up the steps. After that, he drove us to his private parking garage to stash the car. Getting around on foot is the way to see the city. Debora and Marco seemed to really love running their B&B in this 500 year old building! It was January, our room had high ceilings, radiant heating in the bedroom and bath which was spacious as was the bedroom. Bathroom window treatments could be more thermal during winter. The bed was comfy, the nightstands, nice dressers and armoire provided ample storage. Marco handled the heavy lifting, provided us with a list on our map, of recommended eateries and helped us with the car. Debora made breakfast, made Puccini concert reservations and dinner reservations for us. Breakfast included a selection of savory and sweet w/ special treat: eggs to order and good coffee and juice!

Gracious hostesses/host Great location Delicious breakfast Wonderful city

We completely enjoyed our stay. Deborah and Marco were especially helpful with recommendations for resto, sites, events - even hair care! Our standard double room was comfortable and spacious, as was the shared area; they looked as depicted in photos; One caveat: people arriving via car should be aware that the streets are narrow and driving is challenging, including into and out of the B&B's parking facility. A smaller car is advised!

The staff (Deborah and family) were all so friendly and helpful, made our stay so good. The room was very characterful, quiet and had loads of space. The breakfast was perfect, enough choice and variety to set you up for the day. Check in and check out were seamless and the location just perfect. Thank you Deborah, we had a fantastic stay.

the only downside I can possibly think of is the steps up to reception. It's an old building so lifts are not necessarily an option but you need to be aware of it.

A fun city experience; the B&B was in a very small quiet street close to everything; breakfast was very good; we paid for a parking spot - highly recommend - people who hadn’t were not happy about the walk in the heat - and although it was very tricky and tight the owner of the B&B met us at the town square and guided us to the parking garage as well as to the B&B. Very nice staff. We were a party of 4 and stayed in the double family room.

The beds were not the most comfortable but fine for one night.

The hotel is very central and sits in the middle of some beautifully winding streets, inside the medieval walls of Lucca. We got a great view from our window of life inside the tiny streets and how places like this manage to honor and maintain the history and characteristics of these beautiful buildings. The breakfast was very satisfying and we were well looked after. The room was cleaned daily and decorated with such care and detail.

The hosts were amazing, happy to help with any questions/directions and parking. The place is right in the city center, rooms spacious and clean. Breakfast was richer than the normal Italian, which was a nice surprise.

Parking is very difficult. The place is in the heart of the city, and streets are very narrow, and driving around is very complicated. I have booked parking with the hosts, and I have to say, if I've not had help from them, I'm not sure where/how I'd had parked.

The environment, touches of medieval feel and retro were unique in this world of new and edgy locations. Debora (No H) the owner is a stellar person. She was gracious, knowledgeable and very charming. Her involvement with our stay made it special and personal. Great simple breakfast, nice shower/bathroom, good bedding and quite location. I will definitely recommend her to my friends both in Italy and in the US. This will be my location of choice should I get back to a charming and beautiful Lucca. The city is a gem! Good job Debora, see you soon, ciao e ringrazia il tuo personale da Giuseppe, Catherine and Chiara

We loved Lucca , Italy! Walking from the train station to La Boheme was a pleasure. Seeing churches, people, buildings and stores was so unique. We knocked on the door and no one answered ( it was their closing hours), but we called and the hosts ‘ son came to help us in and gave us needed information. What he didn’t know , he told us he would talk with his parents. The bed sheets were so clean and comfortable. Deborah was an excellent host. She is beautiful, friendly, and professional Every morning we had a yummy continental breakfast, in a cozy eating area that included pastries, fruit and croissants. Deborah always started by asking if we would like a cup of coffee or espresso ( my husband always had both). Then she would ask if we wanted scrambled eggs. So thankful to her! 🌷 Lucca is a unique romantic city and La Boheme was the “cherry on top.” Oh yes, there were two young ladies , that I think made sure the hotel was always clean: they always had a friendly smile and they looked like they enjoyed their job. I have good memories of Lucca: all of it. I wish I was there. 🌷

I really can’t say there was anything I disliked Everyone at La Boheme made me feel like we made a good choice of where to stay in Lucca. Thank you. 🌷

Charming old building from the 16th century, full of character. Very friendly staff, welcoming and helpful. The bathroom was great, beautifully decorated, brilliant shower. Great to have air conditioning in the room, and shutters! It was good to be in the centre of the old city yet still have quiet at night.

Lack of parking and access was tricky logistically. Breakfast offering was all on the sweet side. Eggs were only offered on one of the mornings.
