Star G Hotel Premium Dresden Altmarkt

Very nice hotel, comfortable, spacious, quiet, clean, well located, minutes walk from the nice area. Super nice staff.

The shower was all windows with no door, so everyone could see when someone was showering (there is a blind, but no door and there is a mirror right in front). That's not a problem when traveling as a couple, but my teenagers were uncomfortable with that. I had to go out take a walk while they showered. Lol... But that is a very minor "problem".

The location was fantastic, close to the old city center but also with a tram stop just outside the hotel which could get you anywhere in the city very easily. The bed was very comfortable (not too firm, not too soft) and the room was very nice. The fridge in my room was not working and since I happened to need it, they gave me a new room, which happened to be an upgrade. They offered to help me move my things, but that wasn't necessary.

The only thing I didn't like was the layout of the hotel and I suppose there's not much they can go about it. If you have any kind of mobility issues, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. There are elevators, but then you constantly need to go up and down small sets of steps (3 or 4). You also need to take multiple elevators and some of the elevators and stairways only seem to let you out into the inner courtyard. After 3 days there, I was still a bit confused about the fastest way to get from my room to the main (exterior) exit. But honestly, there were so many other nice things that I'd still stay here again if I were back in Dresden.

The hotel was in a beautiful 18th century building - marble staircases, chandeliers, etc. For the price I paid, it was much more elegant surroundings than I was expecting. The staff were extremely courteous and helpful, and the breakfast supplied was excellent. I also loved the walk-in shower and large-screen TV in my room. Overall I was extremely pleased with this hotel and couldn't fault it.

The Altmarkt square was being rebuilt, it looked like, so the whole place was 1 big construction site when I was there. This had an obvious impact with noise, dust, etc. But of course none of this is the responsibility of the hotel. The hotel was also, it seemed to me, a little bit further away from the train station than I was led to believe. But this is a minor quibble, it was still within a 10 minute walk.

This is my favorite hotel in Dresden! It was amazing - stunning! I felt like a queen - the room was huge! There was also a beautiful balcony on the facade of the stylish building. It is located on the Altmarkt - next to the Kreuzkirche, the Kulturpalast and about a 3-minute walk from the gorgeous Frauenkirche in the inner Altstadt, preserved as it is in Canaletto's paintings (Neumarkt). This hotel is suitable for everyone. The views from the hotel to the towers of Dresden's palaces and churches, as well as other beautiful and stylish buildings, are wonderful. There are many restaurants nearby. There is very good and organized transport if you need to visit other parts of the city away from the beautiful center of Dresden where the hotel is located.

Until my next stay at this hotel, the renovation of the Altmarkt will be completed.

Clean good sized room in very centrally located hotel in old town market. Great location, helpful and kind staff. Lift to room. Bathroom nice. Room good size. TV and WiFi worked. Kettle provided. Able to get taxi very quickly from hotel. Also near tram stop, shopping centre restaurants and sights.

Some noise from outside on upper floor.. Bedding was off white suggesting age and use. Quilt did not look warm enough but was satisfactory. Otherwise room comfortable with all needed.

Good location (I hope when all works at Altmark be finished, it would be even better:) - close to historic places, walking distance to the Central Station. I had street view in my room (trams, cars etc), however it was not noisy. Very good breakfast, generous choice.

I'd be happy if the staff could (at least) understand English (apart from the reception - their English is perfect). All was good!

Extremely welcoming staff. There are a lot of hotels nearby and obviously competition is high. This has been recognised and covered with provision of a mini-bar and tea/coffee (both in room and at reception). Overall, a pleasant stay which was better than expected. Extremely convenient for the railway station.

Parts of the hotel are a bit run-down e.g. entrance door poles. This is to be expected in an old hotel but the character of the fittings and pleasantness of staff obliterated any defects. Although convenient for the station, the area around the station is not one that I would like to spend a lot of time in.

- The location was amazing, on the heart of the Old town and super close to the beautiful historical buildings - Possibility of storing the luggage after check-out (tourist life savior) - Comfortable bed - truly a queen size bed, not 2 single beds put together ;) - Spacious bathroom and great shower - Amenities (coffee, water, shampoo, etc) and great cleaning - Check-in was easy and the staff was gentle - The hotel has a cozy cafe and bar where you can chill even after check-out (We only stayed for a night and didn't order breakfast. So our perception in limited to that experience)

The only "BUT" in this is the church bell noise. Because it's super close to the church (our room had a great view of its tower), you can hear the bell ringing every time, even with the windows closed. Each hour, and sometimes every 15 minutes. It was a little bit unsettling. But if you're noise sensitive, reconsider. Or maybe ask for a room in another direction.

Excellent location. The Christmas market was just outside the door. Well renovated and one of the most spacious hotels we’ve stayed in in Europe. The elevators were strangely situated. Once inside the front, there were 3 steps with an odd, unusable, steep ramp (possibly for rolling bags). Handicapped could use a little lift to get up the 3-4 steps. Then 1 elevator to get to the reception, then another of 2 strange elevators to get up to the rooms But be careful which of the 2 elevator doors you exit. One way went to a dead end of some sort. Closet could have had more hanging space instead of the useless shelves. Small fridge. No microwave. Coffee maker but no hot water for tea. Suitcase spaces for two, which was better than most, but room was for up to 4 people. Nice little outside patio, but far too cold and snowy to use this time. Shower good but had the stupid half glass wall, resulting in a wet floor. Bathroom could use more conveniently located hooks. Breakfast was available, but we needed to catch a train.

Excellent location. Enough big family room. Very good and nice breakfast. Nice that it is possible to park car in garage close to hotel. I recommend it for everyone location is great and value for money.

Strange that in bathroom is not door. That was small problem because was necessary to watch that children is not going close when wife is in shower. Shower you can see also from mirror so it was necessary to pay serious attention that children don't see anything. If you travel without children then it is not a problem of course.
