Holiday Inn Express Toronto Downtown, an IHG Hotel

Good location only 15 minutes walking distance from Union station. The staff in the whole hotel (including breakfast, cleaning, ...) was extremely friendly. Our room on the top floor (16) had a great view on the city of Toronto. The surrounding area with St. James park, St. Lawrence Market and some nice restaurants is nice. The room was spacious and clean, and equipped with everything.

Strange smell in the room, very loud air conditioning, which was however switched off by the staff immediately (thanks!). The WiFi speed was extremely slow, sometimes no connection could be established. The breakfast concept does not match the pricing of the hotel. As everything is in one-way plastics or cardboard (compostable), a lot of waste is generated - the "think green" philosophy (signs in the breakfast room) does not match with reality, as everything ends in the same bin (people are not using the waste/recycling bins correctly...).

on the front desk, in some of the staffs you cannot feel that you are welcome. He don’t explain why they will charge you extra fee. He don’t explain everything. If he assume that you know what deposit means in every checkin but what if book a hotel for the first time? is it the job of working on the fromt explain everything you will need to know? this is the first time that someone in the front desk waste our time to go down and ask them why we were charge extra than the cheapest offer thats why you book to their hotel?

Good location for visiting Toronto, close to the St Lawrence Market and the centre of town. Friendly and helpful staff. Arguably a reasonable compromise between cost and location, considering Toronto hotel prices.

Expensive for what it is, being a somewhat old Holiday Inn, but no doubt trading on its quite central location. Self service breakfast offers a wide range of items, but can become a bit of a scrum if you go during peak times. Rather basic food, with single use plates and cutlery - not a 'fine breakfasting experience'.

We were really impressed with Holiday Inn! The location was great and the staff were friendly and very quick to respond to any concerns (e.g. fixing the coffee machine in our room). The room was a good size and also clean. Having breakfast included was a bonus and they had a good range of food options available. We appreciated the “traffic light” system that informed us about the busiest and quietest times for breakfast, so we could get there before it got really busy!

We didn’t like the fact that the tea/coffee station was separate to the breakfast station and we had to hunt around and finally ask another guest for help the first morning we had breakfast there. It would be helpful to have some clear signage to explain that, as we didn’t notice any and it was initially very confusing!

The location was great, could walk to many places, including St. Lawrence Market. Rooms were spotless and beds were very comfortable. The concierge was proactive and made a point of regularly communicating with guests and offering assistance before issues arose. The complimentary breakfast was varied and tasty; no food tray or dispenser was ever allowed to sit empty as someone would immediately bring fresh replacements.

The tap water in our room had a very fine line between not quite hot enough and "Oh My God, too hot" so we had to keep an eye on that but otherwise there were no issues.

Automatic door closers on each room seem to be at the “slam” setting. Other guests who either don’t live in multi-family buildings themselves and/or who are insensitive clods and who let their doors close (slam shut) automatically — we had to run the AC fan on high to block out that and other (modest) noise.

Very central, clean and pet friendly! The best thing about this place is the fact that parking is in an underground lot, which feels a lot more secure especially in such a central location, close to markets, shops and all the sights (there's a parking fee, I can't remember how much - see the Q&A - but I do remember thinking it's on the normal price scale for an underground parking lot in that area). Our room was on one of the lower floors and faced the street, despite that it was very quiet during the night. Would definitely stay again.

The location is amazing! Within walking distance from the Eaton Center and St Lawrence market, many restaurants and bars are around. The hotel has an underground parking, perfect for the stay. Breakfast was okay and the staff were very kind.

When we arrived, they told us that they were not cleaning the rooms everyday, only upon request. So we requested every day for the room to be cleaned (for more than 200 dollars a night, I believe we should get the room cleaned every day), and one day they didn't cleaned the room, even though we had asked for it. They apologized. I believed they should change the policy and again clean the room every day!

Hotel in central location. Many destinations are within walking distance, such as Union Station with connection to regional and long-distance rail services, as well as public transport with bus and streetcar, and the "Old Toronto" and "Bay and harbour Front". Despite the central location, the hotel is located in a quiet area. The hotel at the Holiday Inn Express typically equipped. In this respect, even in some areas a surpassing equipment. The rooms are spacious and modern equipped with coffee machine, small refrigerator and microwave. There is also a good desk and ergonomic office chair. The bed quality as well as the cleanliness are exemplary. The staff is friendly and helpful.

At the beginning there were a few minor challenges regarding the reservation made as well as the subsequent communication and the debit, as I reached the destination one day later due to flight delay. However, this was solved in the following days to everyone's satisfaction. A typical North American breakfast offering, which was basically okay. For European standards, however, many packaged products and thus a high amount of packaging waste. And that doesn't quite fit in with the quite high accommodation costs.

The location of the hotel it's very good. The size of the rooms are more than ok, the breakfast options are good and the bathroom it's quite large.

The room have a very bad smell when we arrive, like humidity or something but very unpleasant. It when away after a couple of hours but everytime we return to the room it was there. Although they offer parking in the hotel, this is underground and not very high. One of the reasons we booked this hotel was the parking and we couldn't use it despite we pay it in advance.
