Langdale Boutique Hotel by Amaya

We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay!! The hotel is just wonderful, you feel like you enter a different time. The room was very pretty and cosy, they even put fresh flowers everywhere. The views and surroundings are great, you relax instantly. And not to forget the staff: They did everything they could to makes us feel welcomed and special, but always stayed in the background. Overall the best place we stayed at during our holidays in Sri Lanka. We strongly recommend it and would stay again!

A very nice botique hotel which gives you feelings of a home. We have been to many botique hotels, but i think this is one of the best and was best part of our stay in Sri Lanka. Very amazing views of tea garden. The hotel is located in a quiet location and is only 5 minutes away from Nano Oya train station. All facilities were neat and clean. Very nice food and breakfast was amazing. We end up eating dinner there as well. Very nice food. They have a small golf club, a temperature controlled swimming pool, a tennis court. Morning views from dining areas are unbelievable.. A perfect get away for holidays.

Langdale is a wonderful small Boutique Style Hotel with old world charme. The staff is very attentive and charming. The location is close to the train station Nanu Oya in the middle of tea plantations with stunning views and scenery. Loved our early morning walk through the teaplantation, the temperatures here are very pleasant and we felt like some exercise after some long travel days. We only spend on night to brake the train ride from Ella to Kandy which we thought was perfect. We could have easily stayed a little longer and just enjoyed this peaceful place. Beds were very comfortable and the whole hotel is spotless and perfectly maintained. We had dinner in the hotel, I personally preferred the local choices on the menu to the western style.

Maybe a few more sunbeds by the pool area.

stunning views across the tea plantations that words quite simply cannot describe. really beautiful common areas with little touches (grass tennis court, chess set all laid out, walks around the plantation) Great food, breakfast was particularly nice with the windows open looking over the valley. Wonderful staff from the interaction in advance of our arrival, the wonderful reception staff, great service in the restaurant and bar and the unsung heroes of the housekeeping team and the gardeners. It was a wrench to leave and we would definitely return.

Ever so slightly tired around the edges in our room and the bar area. The pool umbrellas are tatty.

Location is amazing! Great scenery, tea plantations around the hotel, tracking routes. The food was good for breakfast and dinner. Personnel is very polite and doing their best to provide good service. The hotel is very small and it feels very cozy. Cute Christmas decorations created nice mood)

I was surprised that sauna and jakuzzi in spa area are fee-based) never met that in 5-star hotels. It is not expensive but weird. The iron and iron desk provided in the common area was very dirty, we had to clean iron before using it. At the breakfast were waiting 50 minutes for coffee and boiled eggs;) but it’s just the vibe you should catch in Sri Lanka - no rush and chill, even if it’s 5 star hotel, you would have to slow down!

The property itself was amazing. The building is over 130 years old but excellently maintained. As a boutique hotel it only accommodates up to 11 guests at a time, making it a very homely experience, which we loved. The staff were absolutely excellent, going out of their way to make our stay comfortable. No request was too much, or too little. And we absolutely loved engaging with them. Situated near Nuwara Eliya it boasts some amazing views which we thoroughly enjoyed as we sat down for some tea (and it was some of the best tea we’ve had) or breakfast. As a small boutique hotel, food choices can be somewhat limited but their a’ la carte menu items, in our view, would meet most tastes. The food we ate was excellent quality with pastry items (bread, croissants, cakes etc.) made on the premises. These also were excellent.

If you stay during the wet season be prepared for the croaking of frogs overnight. The water pressure in the bathroom (showers etc.) varied at times and could be better.

My partner and I visited Sri Lanka for two weeks, and we always stayed in luxury hotels. Langdale Boutique Hotel was absolutely one of the best places we visited. Its location among tea plantations is incredible and the structure is well-groomed in every detail. We loved the garden with its gorgeous flowers, the outdoor swimming pool and the the fact that the small size of the hotel makes it an intimate place where to relax. Breakfast was superb, the dinner was tasty and was worth trying. The staff was very kind and helpful. We really hope to visit Langdale Boutique Hotel again as we have been enchanted by it.

loved this gorgeous boutique hotel! place was beautiful - the house, the rooms and the grounds. after a long car ride it was a dream to arrive. pool, lawn tennis, great view. their Sri Lankan food was divine and one of the best I’ve had! staff is amazing! room was super comfy! highly recommend. even saw loads of beautiful fireflies in the evening!

Very cute small designed hotel! Great location right on the tea plantation with fantastic view from the panoramic windows of the restaurant. Fantastic British design of the hotel - all hotel looks very modern and new. Fireplace in the room. Lovely atmosphere. Very friendly and welcomed stuff. Good and tasty restaurant. Amazing breakfast. We highly recommend it to all people visiting tea plantations near Nuwara Eliya and who is going to experience the train to Ella (railway station Nanuoya is located 10 min by car from the hotel).

Everything was great. To have a small fridge in the room would be nice.

Lovely breakfast. Beautiful breakfast room with wonderful view. Food service could have been more prompt. Bedrooms were gorgeous with amazing views & the sitting area downstairs lovely. We walked around the Langdale tea plantation. Grounds are beautifully kept. The staff at reception were helpful when I had questions about places to visit in Hatton. Staff were friendly and welcoming. There were fireworks on New Year’s Eve.

New Year’s Eve dinner went on too long.
