Crowne Plaza Hamburg-City Alster, an IHG Hotel

The location. The breakfast selection is 5 stars! The rooms are beautifully decorated and the confort is 5 stars 🌟

Some of the staff (non-German born) were upset because I didn't speak Germann. I don't live in Germany, I'd have expected a 4 stars hotel to have staff who speak fluent English but I wasn't the case.

1) Great location, close to the lake Alster, which is one of the best places in Hamburg, and only a 15 min walk from the central station. The city center is also close by and the area is calm and quiet, but very close to St Georg's main street, where there are plenty of bars and restaurants 2) The bed was really comfortable 3) The breakfast was rich and delicious 4) The staff were helpful, friendly and professional

Just a few things that could have been improved: 1) The room could have been a bit larger 2) We would have appreciated some extra cabinets for our clothes 3) The shower was only partially closed However, the above are just details and don't affect our general opinion of the hotel, which is great. We would definitely be happy to come back!

Excellent location under a mile from Hauptbahnof central station, easy to walk or take one of three bus lines nearby. Near Alster lake where you can go for a walk or run. Comfortable superior room, no carpeting (useful against allergies). Good breakfast buffet including (limited) vegan and vegetarian options. Helpful, professional staff. Rooms recently renovated.

Hated the open shower. Impossible to relax under the shower without having water on the bathroom floor. Absurd modern fashion of shower not fully enclosed. The bedroom window is locked and requires a key from housekeeping, which I did not realise till late at night. Sound proofing needs improving as the neighbour's dog could be heard barking and a baby in another room crying. Also the heavy wooden coathangers banging against each other in the very small wardrobe. Corridors are carpeted, so no sound from there.

Clean and well kept hotel. Our room was in the top floor with a view to the lake with the city skyline and it was nice. Breakfast is very good with a lot of options including an omelette and waffle stations. The parking place couldn't be booked in advance, which gave some extra-excitement to the arrival as we were traveling by car and wouldn't know, if there's a place to park or not. This was a small minus but fortunately there was still room in the garage for us.

The roads and crossings around the hotel are under construction and it was quite hard to get to the hotel by car as GoogleMaps or the car navigator wanted to guide all route options through this particular crossing (many of the streets around the hotel are oneway and kind of create a loop). In normal situation, driving to the hotel is a lot easier. Also, the drinks at the hotel bar are CRAZY expensive compared to the overall price level in the city. 11,90 € for a glass of standard riesling (24 cl) and 17,60 € for a G&T with standard brands. Prices were not visible at the counter and thus were a bit of a surprise.

Breakfast variety was excellent with egg and waffle stations an added plus. There was fresh cut fruit everyday. Items promptly replenished as necessary. Large size bathroom products eliminated lots of waste and plastic. Room spacious. Check-in and check-out fast and efficient with useful information for getting around the city. Bus stop close and only a few stops to the central train station.

The breakfast area was very crowded and noisy after 8:30. Set alarm and go early to fully enjoy the great breakfast.

Really everything! Our room was clean, spacious, and bright, and the beds so very soft. The breakfast was exceptional, with various choices to suit various diets. There was an egg station, a pancake and waffle maker, a small vegan section, etc. The servers were exceptionally friendly, polite, and kind, to the point where we heard and saw several people stop and compliment them on their way out. Would very much like to return and stay again.

The hotel is only a few bus stops from the Hamburg main train station from where you can easily use public transport to go around the city. There was complementary bottled water available for each guest in the room, which was a nice gesture in warm July. Otherwise the room facilities were more or less standard, and the room was good size and clean. Staff was very helpful and professional. We only stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights, and we enjoyed a very generous breakfast buffet, but I assume that would be the standard in Germany for a 4 star hotel.

There is nothing we did not like. The room and service were as expected.

The room was big enough and comfortable enough. We had 2 entry cards, and as a beer collector, I highly appreciate a big enough fridge. Also, lots of sockets for charging stuff. The hotel looked nice and clean. The position was also very good.

The cleaning stuff woke us up 2 days at 9:30 AM!!! Who does that? We just wanted to sleep a bit more. Also, it was kinda unpleasant that the window was locked and needed to contact reception to open it.

First of all, it is a very clean hotel. As to the location, It is very close by the Alster river, If you want to make long walks by the river, it has a very good location. It is not directly in the city center, but just 4 metro stations to it. The breakfast is very good, the personnel is trying to be very helpful. Although it was very crowded when we were there they did everything to make us feel confortable.

The staff were so nice, polite and helpful The breskfst was verygood eventhough it was crowded at certain time, but the staff made it easier for us and comfortable as much as they could I would recommend it but for first timer it is a little hidden away and you need to dig for it if you are taking a walk around.

The room housekeeping was fairly good, but they need to put more attention for either a left glasses here or not emptying the litter basket there. But as a whole it was nice to be there for a week
