El Encuentro Surf Lodge

My partner and I had the absolute best time at El Encuentro Surf Lodge. This was the 14th country we've visited together and was one of our favorite places we ever stayed. The entire place has the best ambiance with an incredible garden everywhere you look. The staff was incredibly kind and went out of their way to make sure we had the best experience. The food was so fresh and absolutely delicious. They even provide activities like yoga and bachata lessons (thank you so much to the amazing teachers that taught us! See the picture attached for our bachata lesson!). We came out to surf and booked a refresher lesson with their neighboring surf school and had the most incredible experience with him. They catered the entire lesson to what we needed to work on and made sure we had an incredible day. I cannot speak more highly of this place and have already recommended it to several others. If you are even close to this area, book this place. I guarantee you will love it as much as we did.

The intimate vibe and the staff were just amazing .. genuinely friendly, welcoming and enthusiastic! Felt at home as soon as we arrived as we were greeted by “King JC” and Staff. Lots of smiles and laughs with them and the food and atmosphere of the restaurant/bar was cool and the food so yummy and pretty in presentation. The yoga studio offered another quiet peaceful place to stretch and chill out. I traveled with two friends and we were able to do massages and a snorkeling excursion on a perfect day with a fantastic company arranged by the Surf Lodge which was also incredible! Also enjoyed the privacy of our unit and its proximity to the pool which was perfect temperature. For first time surfers,  I would highly recommend this property because Encuentro beach is so beautiful perfect for kids and adults who want to learn!

Really amazing staff who make you feel so welcome and want to make sure you have a great stay and that you’re comfortable. Special thanks to Juan Carlos who is super helpful and cheerful always. This place just has such a great vibe because of its people who work there. Food is delicious. Rooms are very clean and comfy. The property is very stylish and well taken care of. Yoga and Bachata classes are available for free. Few minutes walk to Encuentro Beach, perfect if you like to surf.

We were like to this place because of a lot plant, light and peace. by the way breakfast so good and people friendly! Also good for kids or adult learn class surf near beach.

It is not clean in room and uncomfortable the bed because of little hard make us so hurt back! My opinion in room need some fix and clean because few so old! ( Rust plug and toilet, ants, shower not enough water, some more chair in room)

The staff was super nice and friendly from the beginning. We stayed only one night, but managed to arrive on the evening they had yoga, so got to stretch as well. The overall vibe is super chill there, they have towels by the pool ready, so no need to worry about having to get it.. can go swimming right after breakfast 😄 We stayed in one of the bungalows, so we actually had a second pool as well. Very good to get a late night/early morning swim. The ocean is also a few steps away, if you wanna go surfing.

The only con was the bed. It was a bit too hard for our preference, so didn’t get the best sleep and back was hurting a bit in the morning.

My fiancé and I stayed at El Encuentro Surf Lodge for 8 nights. The hotel is well located, in a quiet area between Cabarete and Sosua and only 5 minutes away from a beautiful beach, which is perfect for surfers. The hotel restaurant offers extremely delicious and healthy local food, all reasonably priced. The pool is perfect to cool down on a hot day, where you can also take a swim. But above all, the staff exceeded all expectations and took every opportunity to make our stay special. We cannot recommend this hotel enough. The best experience we've had so far, primarily due to the friendliness and good humour of the people working there. Thanks again for the great time and the Mamajuana! ;)

Nothing.

Grounds were beautiful; amazing pool for relaxing swim in the evening (no restricted hours for use!!) We enjoyed a free yoga class on our first day. Food at the restaurant was excellent. Short walk to the surfing beach. Couldn't ask for more.

Wifi was not working in our room the first day, but as soon as we mentioned it, the staff reset the router and fixed the issue.

The Surf Lodge was well appointed with a helpful, friendly staff. The restaurant offered a variety of delicious meals. We loved all the local fresh veggies & fruits! We loved the saltwater pool and yoga classes too.

Truly, we cannot offer any criticism as our stay was effortless and very relaxing.

Everythjng was absolutely wonderful! The room size was great for a family of 4! The pool was long and our son spent hours swimming. For surfing the location was even better because of the beach and there’s an amazing surf school where the entire family can follow lessons. Breakfast was a super start to the day with good portions and plenty of options! Also I’m always very appreciative of hotels that accommodate children, there were toys at the restaurant and crib was available. Lastly the hotel staff is seriously the best, we loved hanging out at the bar with Alfredo who knows good service, yummy cocktails and kept the drinks coming. JC and Ana also made our stay that much more special! We extended our stay and were super sad to leave.

Can’t think of a single thing.

I don’t no where to start ! I loved this little lodge. It was everything I was hoping it was going to be . I wanted a non commercial , none busy , little Hidaway that I would just chill with my kids. Both our rooms were right in front of the pool , bar , and restaurant . I felt like it was a very nice Airbnb Because I could bring my own wine and food, yet had service as if it were a 5 star hotel. Everyone was just soooo nice ! My daughter had such a good time with the staff especially Juan Carlos “he talks Japanese and he’s from the moon “ lol. Let’s talk about the food. It was so good . High quality food, delishious and filling portions. The details that go into the service is what really brings it home. Now as for my other needs like rides , excursions …. They even took care of that . All I had to do was ask and everything was set up . It was perfect . Location is right infront of a field filled with cows and wild birds - absolutely beautiful but it’s out of sight until you get there . Sometimes you hear the cows mooing and it makes you feel like ur in the campo but ur actually in a king size bed with ac and everything at your finger tips.
