Hotel Merey

The location is good, just few minutes walk to the main attraction in colonial zone. Place is clean.

The Wi-Fi, it keeps going off then you have to reconnect again. Staff are nice but none of them communicate in English. we use google translation. It didn’t really bother me but it would be nice to have someone who can atleast speak basic English.

This is a good quality room, especially for the room price. The location is very good. Not too far from the Colonial Zone, easily walkable within 10 minutes - and it's a scenic walk. Very close to a souvenir market, which is convenient. The breakfast is fine, good quality, however, you can find better breakfast options and value at nearby restaurants. The sheets and towels were clean, and smelled washed and fresh. The hotel and room were VERY CLEAN! I was actually very impressed with how clean, especially given the price. There is one issue: THE NOISE! The hotel is located right on a main road and it gets loud. You can drown it out with the AC, but if you are a light sleeper, the noise from the traffic may be a problem. Also, the bathroom is compact and the toilet is up against the shower. That could be tough for bigger sized people. Friendly, helpful staff! I would definitely say here again.

The noise from the traffic can be loud. The staff has limited English, so keep that in mind if you do not speak Spanish. But they make a big effort to help!

The Haitian receptionist Ismathiye was very helpful as was the doorman. The location is great. Close to restaurants, shops, the market, exchange offices, a bank and the pedestrian street. Room 303 has s small balcony to take in the evening breeze. Good ac. A good , large bed. Sports channels to watch the european soccer champions league. The rooftop terrace with a coffeeshop / bar is a nice place for breakfast.

The cleaning service was not good. One day I was told that I needed to put a " Please make up my room " sign at the door. As I had not put up that sign they did not clean my room that day. The next day I put the sign at my door but my room was only cleaned after 2:30 p.m. The cleaning staff was quite snappy when I requested their service and one of the Haitian cleaners even asked me for a tip. Street noice from 6 a.m. onwards until around 9 p.m.

The location is good to get to the main street, but neighborhood not so well looked. Clean and pretty new.

My room needed a repair. The bathroom smells bad when you shower. Pretty noisy during the weekend, ok during the week. There is a roster fighting spot close to the hotel, so you can hear them all time.

Location was great, staff were friendly and spoke English. Room was a decent size.

The traffic noise was really annoying

One or two blocks over from the main areas of the Colonial Zone. Very professional and helpful staff. Looks well cleaned during the pandemic. The room looked recently repainted and styled. Things were in good condition. Heaps of TV channels. Very powerful new fan in the room. Had all the extras like an ironing board, coat hangers, alarm clock, comfy bed. Great location a few blocks from the La Sirena Hypermarket, and directly opposite the Jumbo supermarket and inexpensive pico pollo restaurant. About 5mins walk from the public city bus stops, and lots of guaguas run routes right past the hotel.

No hot water for two days out of the 6 night stay. Yes, the bathroom is super cramped but it was well stocked and very clean.

Surprisingly nice and convenient for the very low price, I asked for fan room and got one with A/C. Room even had a balcony. Close to the colonial Santo Domingo center, 1km walk from the cathedral. Real low budget hotel, not a hostel.

Neighbourhood looks somewhat fishy, one side of the street is the beginning of old town, but on the other side poor looking area. No elevator.

Rooms were nice. Kinda noisy but not all night. Internet was great in room. Comfy bed. Little balcony. I walked to colonial area. Happy with my choice.

Shower nozzle did not work on my second night. Think cleaners may have done something to it while cleaning. ??? I couldn’t get TV working but I wasn’t there to watch TV. Little noisy but it didn’t last all night so got a great sleep.

The staff is very kind. They gave good advice about moving around the city.

There were no breakfast available at the time even if it was not included in the price.

It was very clean. Small but clean. The staff was super friendly and helpful.

The hotel is not in a great area. We’re traveling as a group of two girls and it was not the most comfortable situation to encounter.
