Arthotel Blaue Gans

Lovely hotel, quite original with the crazy artwork and age of the building. Superb location to explore the old town, castle and Christmas markets and also close to the bridges to new town ( which is still very old). We stayed in the Maisonette which was spacious. The kitchen/ dining room was a great place to enjoy an Illy coffee compliments of the hotel. Staff were quick to fix a few issues when we first arrived. Lovely restaurant and bar. Schnitzel was delicious as were the cocktails. Staff very accomodating finding a table on a busy night even though we hadn’t booked.

Please etch something into the glass door between the living area and bathroom. It was closed and I walked into it and suffered a bruised head. Seriously dangerous. A Porter would have been appreciated to help carry heavy suitcases up the stone staircase to the Maisonette.

The location was superb! The Blaue Gans is in the heart of the old city. We could walk to whatever event we attended at the Mozart Festival and to any restaurant or historical site we chose. Our room/bathroom was a bit compact but provided adequately for all our needs. It was warm and cozy during January. Car parking is a little crazy here. There is a huge public parking lot close by- in an underground, granite mountain- carved out for a car park. Very unique! But, it is only a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel once you actually park.

Breakfast was not bad but the dining room is small and finding a seat was sometimes a little hard- overflow went into the afternoon bar area. I seem to remember that any of the other food choices not offered in the buffet were at an extra cost.

The hotel is located on beautiful Getreidegasse in the heart of the old town. You walk out the door to this magical street. The staff of the hotel were very accommodating and allowed us to store our luggage when we went to Hallstatt for 2 days. They also were very helpful with directions and responded to our needs (the safe battery needed replacing) and questions quickly. The rooms were comfy, clean and had views down to Getreidegasse, Breakfast had a wide selection of goodies and when asked eggs were made to order. We also had. delicious lunch!

We would have enjoyed a tea or coffee maker in the room. The hallway tea maker took 30 minutes to heat the water.

Location for cost - a real value!!! Rooms were clean, staff was nice. We stayed for a full week but did not use nor miss the breakfast option.

WIFI. They literally told me to go to McDonalds (across the street). In this day and age - WIFI is an easy thing and one a mesh network can be used to provide an excellent service. I would NEVER go for work and stay here. They were also very flat footed when it cam to understanding taxi options.

This facility is located right in the middle of Old Town Salzburg, which means parking your rental car is difficult for foreign travelers to understand. However, artHotel Blaue Gans offers valet parking from their back entrance. Just that was so AWESOME and a relief! Our room was spacious and comfortable - the beds were comfortable and we liked the separate bathroom area. It was a nice, comfortable room to come back to after a day of sightseeing. The restaurant downstairs for breakfast was absolutely AWESOME! In addition to the self-service area, there was a menu you could also order off of. The staff was super friendly and helped us tremendously, explaining all the options. As mentioned, the hotel is located in the midst of Old Town, so walking to various sights we wanted to see was very easy and enjoyable. We took advantage of their offer to keep the little blue goose as a memory of our visit; such a nice touch to trigger wonderful memories!

The room was very well appointed, spacious and the bathroom was nicer than most 5-star hotels. The location is perfect in old town, close to everything you want to see but not too noisy. Convenient parking across the street. The service though was what made the difference. We had a small issue and the front desk attendant quickly rectified it and went out of her way to ensure we were happy.

Great location. Very helpful and friendly staff at the front office and during breakfast. The location is perfect to walk to different panorama tours and sightsee.

One of the reasons I made the reservation was for the hotel to airport shuttle. There was no shuttle available. (This was disappointing but it worked out as we were able to take a taxi.) Breakfast was not included.

We actually ending up staying here 4 nights in total, not the 1 listed on the review. The location/ aesthetic of the hotel could not be better. We stayed in a suite which had two bedrooms, a kitchenette, a full living room. It was absolutely perfect. The restaurant attached to the hotel is excellent- a destination in and of itself. Everything was fresh and delicious. Only callout is that the building is ~500+ years old, so even though there is an elevator, you may encounter some stairs where luggage needed to be carried. Reception was happy to help, but this is the only drawback to mention.

Air con was great, considering the weather we had. Location is great. The morden arts displays in the hotel are very interesting. Location wise, you can't have it more close to all the attractions.

A lot people outside the hotel all the time. But it didn't bother me too much

This hotel is beautiful and in a wonderful lcoation, close to the main parking lot and downtown Salzburg, right off a main foot-traffic only street

I loved everything about this hotel, especially exploring the rooms and stairwells where the original architecture was maintained. A unique place that allows easy return to the room from the city. Relaxing and practical location.
