American Inn

We were a family of 4 adults. We had 2 rooms. The beds were very large, plenty of room to spread out. The rooms were also very large, so plenty of room for luggage. Air conditioning was very welcome as was fridge. Location was convenient for the train station to go in to New Haven. Parking space outside the room so easy for luggage.

Air conditioning was very loud. Weather was very warm so much needed during the night. Kept turning on and off rather than constant fan, so disturbed sleep. When AC was on could not her traffic. When AC was off, could hear traffic. Bathroom somewhat dated, but very clean. Not many places to eat nearby, suitable for vegetarians.

The location was great. Right off of the highway so you have easy access to the freeways. I was visiting with family in different spots on the shoreline so the location worked out great.

The parking lot is almost impossible to get out of when it is full. That was very frustrating. It’s way to narrow to move any vehicle, including my small sedan. Also you can’t get into the lobby for coffee without ringing a bell outside. I get up early, around 5, so no one showed up then. I returned at 6 and rang the bell again. Someone eventually unlocked the door.

Room could have been a bit cleaner and the sink is outside the bathroom making it a bit uncomfortable to use that way. A lot of workers sleep in the hotel and park their working trucks there making it hard to park your car

The American Inn is very well-located close to Route 95 and directly across the street from a shopping center with a Stop-and-Shop, a liquor store and a diner that's open fairly late, all within walking distance. The rooms are good-sized with a table/desk and two chairs so that two people could work at once if necessary. WiFi is great and there was plenty of hot water. The bed was comfortable and Raj the manager was available to address any problems or provide extra towels or similar needs. Worth the price and worth a visit.

We didn't have any issues.

The motel is a short drive to a beach and to the Branford Trolley Trail, which is a pleasant place to walk. The Sky Diner across the street from the motel has good food for a decent price. Check-in was simple, it was quiet at night, the room was clean and spacious.

The only thing to improve (and it's minor) is to have slightly less plumpy pillows on the beds.

Very clean both inside and out! Hot shower. Awesome value when you just need a good bed and a clean bathroom for the night. You can tell the family takes pride in their business. Well done!

I wish the doors had the privacy fold over latches like most motel doors. Wallpaper is kind of ugly (my opinion) and bathroom fixtures are dated (they were all in excellent condition, however, and worked perfectly).

It was close to our family for visiting. Being a smaller establishment, it was easy for the management to keep an eye on things, ensuring the noise level stayed low. We slept SO good each night of our 3-night stay! The room was large and had a table and chairs for eating. there is no breakfast but a diner is just diagonal from the inn. We had a pleasant stay and will be very likely to return for future family visits.

Everything was great!

The room was exceptionally clean, quiet, and very comfortable for me. The water pressure and new rain shower head were great. The hotel is not only "well maintained", it has been updated. The owners' attention to detail and quality is evident in the choices they've made.

I liked the fact there was stores nearby was very quiet

Didn't like the parking people that were staying there didn't have the courtesy to park in front of their door or have the courtesy to park in between their lines the toilet wasn't clean well I always bring my own cleanings supplies to wipe down everything and spray disinfectant

Very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable.

It was a motel, but that was my fault. As a single female traveler I do not like room to open onto street. I was so pleased at the cleanliness and comfort, but a little dated.
