The dream B&B - gorgeous clean room, silent at night for a sound night's sleep, modern shower, all the little touches like tea/coffee/biscuits, fresh towels and toiletries, on-site parking. One of the best cooked breakfasts we have had with the lovely touch of being cooked in front of you in the huge farmhouse kitchen while you chat to the delightful hosts and to other guests! We stayed 2 nights for a wedding that was around 20mins taxi away in Sturminster Newton, so please do consider this place even if it seems slightly further from your event as it is definitely worth it.

Nothing not to like!

The location was ideal for our overnight stay as family were close by. Parking was secure and on the doorstep. Gillingham village was in walking distance with a cafe for a basic lunch. Even though we did not have chance to explore the walks, they were close by and did not need to drive anywhere. Our room was comfortable and everything you needed to have. I especially like the baskets of towels and cosmetics. Nothing was too much for our hosts who made us feel as if there home was our home. There was an amazing choice of delicious food for breakfast.

We are used to super-king size beds. Our room would have been large enough to cater for this. However, the room did have a put-you-up but it was not 3ft wide.

The welcome was lovely with the instructions clearly given as to the breakfast arrangements. The room was very comfortable with good decor and very good facilities, such as a well-functioning shower, a nice selection of toiletries, a pleasant settee in the room. The breakfast was a good selection of cereals, juices and pastries. On both mornings, I had salmon with scrambled egg, which was presented well. The car park has security features.

Paul & Francesca are excellent hosts. Their full English breakfast was up there with the best I have had. The system of booking time & type of breakfast the night before worked very well. The bedroom was spotlessly clean & the bed extremely comfortable. Plenty of hot water on tap for showering. The room was comfortably warm - I don't like a stifling hot bedroom! Having onsite secure parking was a real bonus. A great find & a B&B I would certainly use again if in the area.

We had an amazing experience from start to finish. The couple who run the B&B are truly wonderful and couldn't do enough for us. Especially with the fact that one of us is gluten free and the owners supplied the perfect breakfast for us.

There was nothing that we didn't like, We loved everything about the property and our stay couldn't have been any better. We would love to return one day.

Made to feel very welcome, the hosts were very helpful. The rooms are tastefully decorated to the farmhouse style. Comfortable bed. The ensuite was small but very clean with modern units. The breakfast was very good and cooked to order. The house is in walking distance of the town centre and the train station. Lodbourne house is a great base to explore the surrounding area. I would certainly stay again.

No complaints from me, I knew the house is in a residential area and not surrounded by fields.

The spacious room, the cleanliness, the quietness, the owners, the kitchen in which breakfast is being served. Good and secured car park!

It is nice that there is a small fridge in the room but it makes noise, so I switched it off during the night. The B&B is situated in a town, in a street with other houses, so even though the farmhouse itself is fantastic and used to be situated in the country side, it’s now in town. That’s a bit of a pity. However, do stay here!

This was a fab stay - we took a fairly last minute trip to Stourhead national trust house and gardens, and decided to stay overnight nearby to avoid a long day trip from London. As two friends who travel a lot we were really impressed with the value for money and great service here. Bedrooms were really spacious and comfortable, super quiet and very tastefully done up (nice farmhouse feel!) with all you need. i was even upgraded, which was very kind, as I’d booked the single but they had the space (this was a Monday in Jan!). the owners couldn’t have been nicer, really helpful and kind without being too much! breakfast was absolutely delicious, huge, lots of variety and courses and excellent quality ingredients. they even provided fabulous local cupcakes as a treat as it was my friend’s birthday! the house is lovely and clearly restored with love, and an easy walk from the station. we were able to leave our bags while we explored the lovely stourhead, and had a fab dinner at the bell and crown not far away. all in all, a great trip. thank you!

I stayed here for a Wedding and it was the perfect location. The owners were wonderful and went over and above to make my stay comfortable and provide an exceptional level of service. They went out of their way to cater for my dietary needs and I enjoyed a wonderful breakfast both mornings. Paul helped me to book a taxi to get home from the wedding venue and even helped me get my car up and running the next day to drive home safely! Thanks again.

I was attending a wedding nearby and when searching for places to stay this B&B kept coming up as a top rated place to stay. It did not disappoint! Francesca and Paul were able to accompany me checking in early since the wedding started a few hours before check in which was so appreciated! I had the Woodland Room and it was very spacious, immaculately cleaned, and very comfortable. The bathroom was much more spacious than expected and I loved all the decor! The bed was very comfortable and even though the pillows were harder than I generally like, I slept like a rock! The breakfast the next morning was delicious and far more choice than other B&Bs I’ve stayed at. Honestly Paul and Francesca are both so friendly and truly amazing hosts and I cannot recommend this B&B enough!
