Loved the view! Easy walking along the lake promenade, and restaurant food was excellent 😊 The room was the cleanest we’ve ever seen in an NZ motel/hotel. Not a cobweb or dust in sight, and no mould in the bathroom! Excellent 😊

We did ask for a quiet room, however we were disturbed by other guests, on both sides. Some people talk very loud; and I wish other guests would realise we don’t all stay up till 2am! Items missing in the room that we expected to be there: a complimentary shower cap in the bathroom; a dishcloth/teatowel - couldn’t wipe down the kitchen sink; and also the fridge wasn’t very cold. We couldn’t refreeze our ice packs for our Eski. No way to turn the temperature up or down.

We chose this because it has a bistro restaurant, great location, some rooms have lake views. Location an easy walk to cafes, restaurants, bars, shops. Room 19 has a balcony to enjoy the view over Taupo lake Very comfortable room overall. Pillows made for a great sleep. Not high. Bistro offers happy hour from 4pm.

*The bistro is closed Monday for breakfast. The reason we booked here because needed to get up and go. Most cafes didn’t seem to serve breakfast until 8am. *Reception woman was not friendly / welcoming at all.

The staff were great upon arrival. The studio room was small but perfect for a couple of nights. The room was well equipped with a microwave and mini kitchen appliances. The room had that hotel feeling of being very clean and tidy. Parking right at the door. A nice balcony with table and chairs. Beautiful uninterrupted view of the lake and mountains. The tv with chromecast was a bonus. The on site facilities were great with room service from the restaurant available. The location was literally a 2min stroll to the main town centre. And directly across the road from the lakefront.

The room was very tired and looked it. Cracked paint. Old fittings. Old showers with traces of mould. Towel rails in bathroom not heated so in 1deg temperatures towels were wet in the morning. Furniture not moved for vacuuming which showed up dust and dirt. The most major thing was noise from neighbors due to no soundproofing. The walls are paper thin. I stayed here with my family in the 70s and I think some features of the cabinetry were the same but have since been painted up a bit.

Great location, clean room with a modern and fresh new look. Shower pressure was awesome and the bed was comfortable. We even enjoyed breakfast in bed while watching the ABs on a decent sized 50” TV. My husband could even log into his SkySports account which was a bonus! Would definitely stay again.

A sizeable gap under the external door made it drafty in our room. Countered the heat pump, but a rolled up towel soon fixed that. I prefer separate shampoo and conditioner in the showers, so ladies bring your own conditioner.

Smart TV was a bonus, we could connect our Netflix account through our phones. Beds were comfy, we liked the electric blankets and ability to heat the room fast. Receptionist I think her name was Pauline (I may be mistaken) she was lovely and very professional.

Shower was amazing especially the pressure/shower dome, however we noticed there may have been a gap somewhere in the seal/shower wall which caused small leaking while the shower was running. (Room 45)

Nice modern motel, I wouldn’t call it a hotel due to the rooms exiting onto a balcony with external stairs. Not a bad thing just my opinion. Lovely spacious room with a functional kitchenette (microwave, sink and fridge) balcony was nice

The becomes would be amazing if there was privacy between other rooms balcony’s was a bit annoying sitting outside and then next door comes out when you just wants some down time but other then that loved the room we had

The view was fantastic

I booked through Booking.com and paid though the app. When I arrived I was informed that I was going to be charged an additional fee even though I had used a debit card to pay the original quoted amount. Given that it was a debit card payment I do not think an additional credit card fee is appropriate.

The room service was an added bonus. So nice having breakfast and coffee brought to my room. All staff were wonderful. Restaurant staff were fantastic. Jack brought me dinner and breakfast on 3 different days. He was a delight and even remembered what coffee I had when I had breakfast in the restaurant on my last day of the stay. Also had Marion as my waitress she was bubbly and happy and nothing was too much trouble. This is now the only place il stay in Taupo . Love it

The location was good. The room was very clean. Staff were very helpful.

I followed the instructions on how to operate the heat pump, but not being familiar with heat pumps, did not realise the device on the wall had to be removed and then used like a TV remote in order to operate the heat pump. Consequently, as the temperature outside plummeted to minus three degrees, I had a very cold night without heating. I think their instructions need to be edited for ignoramuses like me.

Room was nicely laid out, bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was superb with sublime freestanding bath. Loved the wallpaper by the way! TV could swivel - making viewing easy from different spots in room. Location was spot on - a easy 5 minute walk and you’re in town. Furnished balcony offered gorgeous lake views We’ve stayed at the Taupo Hilton on many occasions - but Suncourt, in our opinion, offers a similar standard of service - without the high price. We will be back.

Not a lot of clothing storage in room - and only 3 hangers provided. Could have had drawers in main room. Food at the attached Lake Bistro was superb! Only issue was we had to repeatedly go up to the counter to order more drink, food, dessert etc. across the 3-night stay. Not sure if they forgot we were in the corner?
