Chantillys Motor Lodge

Pleasant ground-floor 'studio' room - opening onto a small garden patio with table and chairs. Very clean room, kitchen area, and bathroom. And kept that way each day of our stay. Excellent TV and streaming capability/connectivity, with fast internet free wifi. Given all our other usual places we stay at in Taupo were price-gouging over the Xmas period, Chantillys seemed reasonably priced for what was on offer, And were we surprised! It was an amazing motel - easy, secure parking, quiet when you needed it to be quiet, and just what we were looking for as a 'base' for all our activities Lakeside (free diving) and the tennis courts at Acacia bay. I can't praise it enough. That little garden was a godsend for drying wet-suits, towels etc.

We were located on a main road motel-side into the City Centre, which was a bit noisy during the morning and day as you'd expect - but after 5pm or so, things calmed down. At night it was silent right through to morning. So, not much the motel can do about that - although when the road-facing windows and garden doors (glass - modern glazing) were closed, you could barely hear the traffic.

We have stayed there before but it was under different ownership, This time the experience was different, Not as good on the customer service side , More about the money.

The office was unattended and had to wait for one of the cleaner staff to advise the owner that I was waiting., Zero customer service , Fridge was full of water and leaked on the floor each time the door was opened, A very big group or asian visitors arrived and we're very inconsiderate, Yelling across the carpark at each other .

Great location. Had a downstairs room, so no view of lake. I was OK with this as only in room at night. It was a last minute booking. Rang ahead to see when check in was available. Unfortunately they were short-staffed so check-in was later than usual. My credit card was charged twice in error, I was impressed to get a text while driving home about it and they refunded within the hour of me replying. Easy carparking.

No major complaints. Late check-in due to staff shortages (felt for a lot of places with this issue).

I just enjoy my stay at Chantilly’s. Its not too far from the town centre, or lake to walk around instead of using the car.

Chantilly’s was exceptional. What I didnt like was taking my early morning walks and picking up rubbish along the way. Along the streets and along the lake. Next time I will take a rubbish bag with me as bins were few and far between.

Enjoyable from start to finish. Lillian at Reception was awesome. Our room was spotless and exceeded our expectations. Good location and great facilities. Even alliowed us to park our car for the full day we checked out so we could walk to and from an event we were attending. We will book again.

Good location, handy to town

I did not like the 3 pm check in time. we had a family reunion and we needed time to get organised. we did arrive at 2 pm and asked if we could check in early. No was the answer because of the chemical smells used in cleaning. It seems that the prices are going up and our time allowed to stay shorter. Staff were waiting at the door before 10am asking if they could clean 😡

Very tidy room which had been made ready for our evening arrival with curtains pulled and heat pump on. Housekeeping had done a great job, the place was beautifully clean

Basic TV channels only. Lighting outside in the stairwells got turned off at night which was dangerous for us when we left early in the morning - would suggest these need to stay on.

Location to centre of Taupo - within walking distance. Cleanliness and daily servicing of unit. Facilities in terms of kitchenette available in room. Swimming pool on site was an asset!

Lack of crockery available in room - 2 plates of each type for two people only available - same with cups/mugs/glasses. No lounge suite type facility available - had to sit on the bed to watch TV. We were disappointed with our view - we asked for a lake view unit and received an email reply indicating it would be the case, but then we when arrived we were facing the motel complex across the street from our balcony. Price was alittle too much for the type of facility per night. Little to no orientation to the facility by staff.

Spacious rooms, clean and comfortable. Excellent room facilities and added extra touches with mints extra.. Also enjoyed the pool and spa. Liked our room balcony.

The lodge was fully booked which put demands on the internet, so this wasn't good for us this time. There was good phone reception. A pair of kitchen scissors would have been useful in the otherwise very well equipped cutlery drawer.

Very clean and comfortable room, with a nice sunny area to sit outside the main door. The balcony had less sun when we arrived, but would be nice another time. Spacious bathroom with ample hot water and towels. Very handy and close to town, yet minimal noise.

Carparks are rather narrow and we found it a bit awkward to maneuver out of the area - the venue was fully booked. Lack of extra toilet rolls - perhaps this was missed as the staff kindly rushed to have the room ready for us to check in early.
