Perfect location right in central Nelson. Bus stop/supermarket/cafes all close by. Bathrooms are shared but well maintained and clean. Kitchen can be a bit busy but is well equipped with plenty of counter space and storage boxes for food. Several hang out areas and a nice big dining room. Late check in was straightforward and Wi-Fi worked well.

It lacks a little personality overall but is clean efficient and centrally located. Dorms - top bunks are very high, difficult to climb and no safety rail. Dorm rooms had storage spaces under beds but were very cramped without any real space to unpack or get dressed. Reception closes at 5pm and if you need to call staff after this time they charge a $20 call out fee. There were some loud drunken lads in one of the downstairs dorms one night and I wished there was a staff member around who could’ve tried to quieten them down. Overall seems to attract a younger crowd

This was great value for money - central location in the town walking distance to supermarkets, cafes, restaurants etc. Small private room with bathroom. Reasonably clean even the kitchen though it deteriorated on the last night. It was great to have laundry facilities onsite. Staff were friendly and helpful, the place was secure (door code) and quiet,

Given the excellent price, I'm not complaining, but there could have been at least a couple of hooks in the bathroom to hang up clothes/towels. A washing line would also be a great addition as a lot of bushwalking clothes can't be put in the dryer. Although open until 6pm they closed up early one night and we missed checking in and getting a towel.

We were two couples soo booked two ensuite rooms. There was a super fast heater in each room that made the room very warm very quickly. This is much appreciated. The shower was very hot and powerful. There was good signage throughout the property about quiet times and it seemed all the guests abided by the rules which was absolutely fantastic.

The fan venting the bathroom is VERY LOUD! The metal staircase was a bit loud when heavy footed guests came - luckily most were considerate! Be careful of walking into the corners of open windows as they are a bit off Health and Safety issue!

Nice hostel, friendly staff and a good kitchen. Die kitchen is the center of the hostel and has really good equipment. Enough space to hang around. Bath, kitchen and rooms are clean.

Reception closes at 6pm, that's pretty unusual for a hostel. There are rules, that if you "disturb" the staff after 6pm you have to pay a fine, which is not very welcoming. Besides, the staff member themselves hang around in the hostel after the reception is closed. If you have a hint or a complaint (the light in our room was not working) you can't report it between 6 p.m. and 9 a.m. in the next morning...

Cute location of the private rooms at the back of the lot, with an outside gallery. Very cosy yard with picnic tables and umbrellas. The kitchen is spacious and has plenty of utensils and other kitchenware. Also a spacious dinner hall. Bed is comfortable and big enough. There are multiple clothes hangers and something to put a suitcase or backpack on. Quite handy.

The bathroom is a bit cramped and the shower has a tall entry to step over. The shower head is also relatively low. The ventilation is very strong, which is good, but it's also a bit noisy.

Everything was clean, and the shared facilities were spacious. We had a private twin room which was perfect for us and our 4 yo. The rooms are small, but when you are used to a tent, big enough.

One point of improvement was that half of the stoves were not working at all, or did not really get hot. A second would be that the ventilation unit in the bathroom was very loud (when turning on the light you wake the others in the room) and the ventilation grill was also really dusty and could use a clean up. Other than that, would definitely recommend this place and come back

Really nice place in a great location. The communal kitchen is really spacious and has everything you need. All communal areas are kept spotless. Our room was comfortable and had what we needed. Definitely really good value for money for the accommodation. On a more personal note, the manager went above and beyond for us. We were delayed reaching New Zealand due to the cyclone, so we were stranded half way there for a few nights. When we finally got to NZ, we still couldn't get a domestic flight into Nelson. Our plans were completely up in the air/kept changing and our original booking had been missed. Stella did everything to try get us somewhere to stay last minute after our original booking. We had different rooms and even got set up in their sister hostel just to try accommodate our complicated situation! Honestly we're so grateful to Stella and the whole team. Nicest people ever! Oh and Stella has a cute dog! 100000% would recommend this place!

The kitchen was large and the enormous dining room made it easy to meet and interact with other travelers. The hostel is dog friendly and a couple of people there had their furry companions. The beds were comfortable and appropriately equipped with reading lights and outlets.

The rooms were a bit small and can be unbearable if one of your roommates is a slob. It can be pretty terrifying if you are stuck with a top bunk as they are much taller than standard and lacking any kind of railing.

Amazing location right in the city centre and next to the bus terminal. Everything is newly renovated and clean, well equipped kitchen, large communal area, quick WiFi. Late check-in procedure was smooth. The female dorm only had 4 beds and was even equipped with a sink, large mirror, hairdryer and hair straightener! Beds have sockets, individual lights and warm duvets.

The upper bunks are really too high!!! Difficult to climb up and down. Nobody emptied the rubbish bin in our room.

Room and bathroom, very clean and modern. Kitchen facilities also great, just struggled to find a little steak knife to cut my fruit.

Only suggestion - on arrival, I went to check room out which was locked up, it would be great if the windows could be left open for guests arrival or some fresh fragrance was sprayed, becuase it had quite a strong smell of nicotine/smoke in the room. Luckily for me, I jusr opened the window wide, was out for another 5hrs and the room smell had improved massively when I arrived back.
