The Devereux Boutique Hotel

I had one of the rooms with view on the garden, it was very quiet for the location (near a major road), the day was hot but I had a fan and a balcony door. I was able to open a secure, small window to get a gentle breeze at night. There was just enough equipment in the room, small fridge, kettle and a few basic cooking appliances to make it better for a 3 night stay. Very close to road as mentioned and a bus stop with lines going directly to Britomart, walking distance from the Remuera shops and the train station. The bed was comfortable and the shower had good pressure, the complimentary products were of good quality and appreciated.

A requirement was a bath and I got the spa bath. Bliss!!! The bed was very comfortable. The room was a great size (a x2 seater couch might be a good idea?). The woman who greeted me took me up to room and closed curtains and put on the heater Friday night and the electric blanket was on too I noticed later. I was hoping to be joined by a friend but that did not happen. It was my birthday and it was my treat away and I just wanted a bath. Loved the big windows and the parking area was great and great for x2 visitors for a short time on Saturday. I got picked up and took the bus into town so very handy right outside door. The special price I got it for was so good too.

Being an old building you could hear some conversations in the evening which could bug some people but for me it was okay. It is a very old building anyway. I did wonder why breakfast was not available? I could get nit picky and say no one to carry my bags (bell boy) and no lift but honestly there were no gripes really. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay.

The Devereux Boutique Hotel was an extremely pleasant surprise! The staff were very friendly and provided excellent service from check-in to check-out. The room had everything we needed for our stay, and was clean and organised. A great "bang for your buck" option for someone who wants to stay near central without all the loud noise and distractions. Will definitely be here again!

Location was excellent for where we needed to be. It is a lovely very old huge house, well kept, our room was a good size, comfortable bed and although it is situated on a very busy road the area was very quiet. Receptionists were very helpful.

The bathroom was tiny, more like a cupboard size, okay for us for an overnight stay and we are quite small people but would not suit a larger size person. We could hear talking most of the night from the room next to us.

My second floor room at the rear was cool (it was a hot summer) and overlooked the garden with greenery and tall nikau palms. I was surprised to hear birdsong from tui, bellbirds and fantails. Due to Covid, the hotel was relatively empty (good for me, not good for the hotel) so it was wonderfully quiet and relaxing 4 out of the 5 days, which was just what I needed. Staff understood my need for a quiet room and moved me straight away when I discovered an issue upon arrival. They were both very friendly and helpful.

I had a few back issues from the bed, though nothing major. The WiFi was a little frustrating so I stopped using it. The 'worst' aspect was the lack of sound-proofing, being an old building. One day, the room next door was occupied so there was a lot of noise: loud talking and TV through the wall till late. The neighbouring guests weren't being excessively inconsiderate but the sound coming through the wall was intrusive for hours on end. There was also bass coming through the floor from the lounge below. It was only one day/night so I still consider the stay an exceptional one. It could be more of an issue for people like myself who prefer quieter surroundings once more people are travelling again, though, filling up the hotel. To others, it wouldn't matter.

It’s a lovely building in a great location. We had a Beautiful large room with sunny annex. The staff are helpful and polite.

We were in the older building this time. Water leaked out of the shower door onto the floor. Hot water in bathroom basin tap barely trickled out. Small heater was inadequate to heat the large room. That was a shame, because the place is otherwise lovely.

Good location, good parking, friendly and efficient staff , excellent fit for our purpose (5.30am meet family member at airport) easy journey at 4.30am For information I have a UK passport but am NZ resident

A bit noisy overnight, my partner found the big bed mattress a little hard, but slept OK on the softer small bed but this is really just nitpicking

Love the old world charm of the hotel. It's dated and a little tired but overall happy with our stay. Great to have off street parking.

When booking the room, I presumed the one I clicked on was the room I was booking. Would be helpful to know that's not the case, but could be any one of the several suites, in that price.

I liked everything. The atmosphere and ambience of the hotel was outstanding. The free parking and unlimited free wifi was excellent. The manager was helpful in the extreme. The location was central to everywhere, close to a main road yet quiet and restful. The curtains were thick and let in very little light so sleeping was easy. For my needs and my particular wants this hotel was the best I've ever stayed in at the price that I paid. I will certainly stay there again.

NOTHING COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER. This hotel, for what it costs, is absolutely the best ever.

It’s a lovely property, with a grand building and other units in a newer building, extremely convenient to some great areas of Auckland. We were in the newer wing this time, which is really nice. We've stayed in the original building, previously, which could do with a few improvements.

There was nothing not to like. It's a very nice property.
