Hotel Margherita

Hotel was exactly as imagined and reviewed. An elegant, unique family hotel, beautiful views and amazing service, reception staff went out of their way to advise/help. Room was spacious, with the most incredible view. Parking on site. Bus to Positano literally outside But also option of SITA bus and internal shuttles. Reception staff amazingly responsive to WhatsApp queries. For us the trip is not just about hotel location, service, food, amenities but also those extra experiences that make it special. We arrived and told Angela we want to go to Positano. Within 10 mins we were on the bus, armed with bus tickets, bus times for return journey, and out bags were taken care of. We hiked path of the gods from praiano...what an incredible journey. Hope so v v much to be back! A note about how we chose this hotel.....reviews......so pls trust this one. Hotel is outstanding. Why did we choose praiano not Positano? Parking, accessible, relaxed, not celeb city. A simply relaxed village/town, beautiful hiking and food and views

The location was great - quiet and relaxing but also very close to Amalfi Town and Positano. The hotel has a shuttle bus that picks you up and drops you off to Praiano town centre. The staff were very friendly and helpful and you can contact them on WhatsApp for anything which was very practical. The hotel was in a great condition and very clean. The breakfast was great too. The room was very comfortable and the balcony was a great bonus. The only reason we’re giving and 8 and not a 10 was due to the fact the walls were very thin and you could hear other guests. On the first two nights we had to call reception due to the guests in the room next to us being very loud. It put a bit of a downer on our first couple of nights/days. Otherwise the hotel was very good and we cannot fault anything else. We saw some reviews about the pool area being very busy but there was always space to relax when we went there.

The staff at Hotel Margherita are really friendly and helpful. The shuttle service is an excellent addition and made it really easy for us to go to the local beach in Praiano - it's a brilliant service. Our room was beautiful, nicely furnished and had a stunning view of the sea. Sleep kits were provided and were necessary as the rooms were not very sound proof; I was woken during the night by other guests shouting/calling out to each other in the corridors. We had a massage (five star massage) and it was incredible- without a doubt one of the best. The refillable water is a brilliant idea. Service at breakfast is friendly and there is a lot of choice.

We found the pool area looked very different to pictures advertised. The pool was much smaller than expected and there are not enough loungers for guests. The material used for the loungers is not particularly comfortable as it attracts the heat and is very painful to the skin when hot. We travelled for our honeymoon and felt disappointed that this wasn't in any way acknowledged; this is inconsistent with other travellers' experiences at this hotel and provided a stark contrast from the hotel we had come from.

Praiano is a lovely place and far from the bustling chaos of Positano, although there is a local bus which works well. This hotel is superb. The staff are so friendly and helpful. They gave us coffee and juice on arrival while we checked in, supplied a free shuttle early one morning to take us to the start of the Path of the Gods and provided coffee early every morning before breakfast was open. There are even coffee and tea making facilities in the room which is really unusual in Italy. The pool is a good place to cool off and the location is good, close walk to lots of good eating places. Beaches are accessible with a twenty minute walk or the hotel shuttle.

Front desk staff were amazing: had written ahead of time telling them we were celebrating our anniversary- and they did everything possible to make it extra special! Started with greeting us with glass of champagne and fruit platter sent to our room, continued with coordinating any and all requests, scheduled an on site massage {which was amazing! Oftentimes hotel/resort spas are nice but nothing great; however, their unique 5 point massage was one of the best I have had!), booking reservations for us…and assisting with anything else we needed. The pool area was delightful with beautiful views. All in all it was a wonderful stay.

The restaurant was sub-par at best. I’d like to think it was an off night- as my dish was so horrible I didn’t eat a thing (only time that happened throughout the coast) and our server was rude and unprofessional. Once again front desk came to rescue: they asked me had I enjoyed dinner and I made quick comment about it— wasn’t anticipating anything other than hopefully letting restaurant know; however, they apologized profusely and when we checked out I saw they had removed that charge from our bill. That wasn’t anticipated - but certainly appreciated- and added to our list of why we would happily stay there again: customer service is key!

The hotel's shuttle to the beach and then the pick up from our Path of the Gods hike were so appreciated. The breakfast was delicious. We were pleasantly surprised that ordering omelets, pancakes, etc was included. The lemon grove outside our room window was fun to see. The lobby and the room were decorated with such creativity and style. The owner was very welcoming and accommodating. She was thinking ahead for us about what time we would need to catch a bus to our ferry before we considered it. We had the 5 star couple's massage with Stefano and Giorgia and it was one of the best massages we've ever had. They do a great job telling you what to expect. We had a romantic anniversary dinner at M'ama. The view and the food were very good!

I messaged once in May and then again in June that we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. Maybe I should have mentioned it in the communication on What's App instead because no one said anything to us even though we were asked in the messaging if we were celebrating anything special. The pool and the view are exceptional but I wish that so many people didn't hold loungers with their towels. We went to the pool two different days and couldn't get a lounge chair on the main level by the pool because they all had towels on them. Maybe a sign is needed to encourage courtesy and not hold chairs if you're away for more than 30 minutes.

beautiful deluxe room with a gorgeous terrace and ocean view. But honestly that is nothing compared to the staff. Friendly, accommodating, and there every second of the day to not only help, but who also go out of their way to make your stay as good as possible. Always on hand to give you tips about the bus shuttles (can even provide tickets), and oh my - I LOVE the whatsapp service! We stayed 4 nights on our honeymoon, were greeted by nibbles and wine, and just the warmest welcome. There had been a mix-up with the rooming due to booking.com (booking.com's fault entirely!) but the hotel staff went all out to help as much as possible and to give us the best service they could. Didn't use it but the gym equipment looked great too, and we enjoyed a "5-star" style of massage - uniquely created in Positano! If we ever come back to the amalfi coast, there's no doubt where we'll be staying.

The welcome we received was wonderful, we were given a glass of wine while they brought our cases to our room and filled in our paperwork. Once in the room we saw the beautiful view over the amalfi coast and the room in a nice clean condition. The hotel is very environmentally friendly which is wonderful to see (they provide reusable bottles for us, and have recycling bins in every room.) They also have a partnership with the laundrette up the road (20€ for a whole wash and dry, the hotel then pick it up and leave it in the room!) which was great as we were at the end of a two week holiday across Italy ! The breakfast is also very nice (fresh orange juice and free cooked items such as eggs & bacon or pancakes)

The restaurant there was a little average, the cost of drinks was a little high and there weren't many sunbeds. Also, the sunbeds that were there had black covers which got extremely hot (maybe look at changing the colour of those?) But again, no huge criticism just little pointers, but overall a very nice stay.

Service of the Hotel staff could not be any better. There was a hotel shuttle to the beach, the centre of Praiano and the Fiordi Di Furore. Everything was very well organized and well explained. Water and coffee was free for the whole day. Staff was always proactively asking if we need anything and tried their best to make our stay as comfy as possible. The location was in a quiet area of Praiano and close to the bus stop which takes you to Positano or Amalfi. The rooms were very clean, nice and well equipped. WiFi was working stable.

The gym and wellness area was a bit disappointing. It did not look like the pictures shown on the booking website at all. It was more like a dirty storage place with little workout equipment. The pool area is nice but small and there is no sun after 5 p.m.

Service was great all round. The welcome was fantastic and the breakfast and poolside service was great, being able to text via WhatsApp for service form the poolside is remarkably handy and cool. All round the service is efficient and attentive. Its a little out of the way for access to local town and beach but the hotel's free shuttle service really makes up for this. This hotel has a family feel but delivers high end!

Pool is small and the sit-down restaurant has no children's menu, have to go poolside for this.
