Mercure Hotel München Altstadt

The location was fantastic..room perfect in size..comfy beds and pillows..breakfast spectacular and the smiley lady who served breakfast wonderful.

The lady who checked us in on the 7th October at 11 am was DOWNRIGHT RUDE!!..I understand it was early and the room wasn't ready but there is a nice way to explain that!!!..also we had a confirmation for a twin room from booking .com as I was traveling with my sister and she had us down for a double room ..i showed her the confirmation and she started raising her voice!..was not impressed at all and this woman has put me off staying here again. Everything else was great!!! Even the lady in the evening at reception was so nice.

Excellent location, comfortable in general and good breakfast.

The dining room staff (breakfast), very attentive and cordial but the reception staff, limit themselves to coldly doing their jobs, with an absolute lack of empathy. Parking too expensive

Location of the hotel is great. Minute walk away from Maria Platz and centrally accessible to a lot of places. Less than five minute walk from a number of places of interest. Liked the breakfast too. Dezorti and Teti at the front desk are awesome and they need a special mention. Staff like these will make customers come back to the property.

Beware of rooms downstairs. They are right next to a by lane and it could get noisy in the night.

The beds (2x single) are small and hard - woke up with a sore back every morning The breakfast is free, but included as a cost item on the invoice - so not free really, more ‘compulsory’ The hotel is overpriced for what it is (= very basic) - although I suppose that’s because of the central location The bath products were in big bottles secured to the wall several feet up. Fine for showers, absolutely hopeless for baths One pair of slippers between two people, and wooden floors Small room, nowhere to place open cases comfortably

Liked the location (close to everything in the old town and more), staff were polite & welcoming, beds were comfy, room was clean and large. The room was like a suite - 1 bedroom with 2 double beds & tv, a kitchen, fridge with complimentary beer, coke and water, lounge area with a tv, a space with a desk, dining table. Spacious. Breakfast was great and covered everything including a variety of breads and milks. Breakfast staff were also very attentive and assisted with hot drinks to the table. We had been travelling for a month so it was nice to have a comfy lounge and a kitchen with complimentary drinks, a lovely breakfast that was centrally located for restaurants, old town, markets, walking tours and great shopping areas.

After the elevator took us to the highest point, we then had to lift and manoeuvre our heavy suitcases and hand luggage up another 15 steps - not good for over 60's with bad backs. Not practical to give guests steps when they are staying for just one night. Although staff were polite, assistance would have been welcomed. The room was nice although the ceiling was sloped and we had to be careful. However, we would definitely stay again but would try another room.

The hotel was very clean, responsive when the AC broke and helpful in finding the subway routes for our next trip. Most of all the free breakfast was superb and we got there a bit later than others. Mini fridge was complementary , vending machine was reasonable and affordable.

The property was hard to find. GPS got us close but it was down the alley. There was only a hotel sign visible from the cross street and it did not resemble the photos until you were heading into the door. Later we saw a Mecure Hotel sign from the cross street but it was up high.

The location is great, a short walk will bring you to the bautiful city center of munich. The price to quality ratio is also rather good. The food is regular and the rooms of average quality. If you are on a budget this hotel is ideal for you

We werent informed that we required a covid test to stay at the hotel. The staff was also partially unwelcoming.

The location is excellent, right in the centre of the Altstadt, everywhere is within easy walking distance. Hotel is a good 3-star hotel. The breakfast is excellent. A plus is the coffee machine in the breakfast room, guests may go into the breakfast room at any time to use the machine. There are complimentary drinks in the fridge in the room. The staff are friendly and helpful. I have stayed at this hotel several times and am always completely satisfied.

I liked everything.

I had asked when booking for a room with a walk in shower. However when shown the room it was one with a very large step up (about half the height of a bathtub). He staff said all the rooms were like that but fortunately at the last moment they said there was a room with a different shower, which indeed was a walk in shower. Checkout at 11:30 was very welcome. Staff were very relaxed.

Room was o Ground floor and you had to have blinds closed as people walking past (on a quiet side street) could look into the room.

The location was perfect for the centre of the city. Close to a train station too so an easy journey too and from the airport. Breakfast was a good selection of food. We were able to fill up enough to last us till a late lunch. Plus side is the coffee machine in the breakfast room can be used at any time (an evening hot chocolate feels like a treat after a day of exploring). Beds were comfy, rooms were a decent size and water pressure was good. Plugs by the bed, so many hotels don't have this! We also had a fridge, not sure if every room has this but a handy bonus to keep snacks cool. Would certainly stay at this hotel again.

Having two single beds pushed together and two single duvets was a bit of a downside and the pillows weren't my favourite but pillows are very personal preference. Not sure why but the bathroom fan stayed on all the time, might have been something we were doing but we couldn't really hear it at night. Not a lot of hanging space but I never much anything anyways. Tiles in the bathroom got very slippy when wet, nearly had a couple of accidents as I'm not sure the shower screen made full contact with the bath, so wear the slippers provided for extra grip.
