Hotel Schloss Eckberg

(I have edited this review as I originally wrote about another property we stayed at.) This is a splendidly beautiful location in a massive park like setting which adjoins three castle/mansion properties overlooking the river. Our room was not in the castle building, rather in an annex building. They had done a wonderful job of turning this working building into modern lodging with a big comfy bed and bright windows looking out onto flower gardens. We arrived on a weekend of a substantial religious holiday for the area. Prior to our arrival the hotel texted to caution us that dinner times were fast booking and we should make a reservation. Unfortunately we were on the road and in fact dinner seatings sold out. Still the front desk reception woman took pity on us and reached to the restaurant on our behalf. By the time we settled into our room we had a call with a dinner time. The setting was simply gorgeous, the food wonderful and the wait staff was a true joy. After checking out the next morning we spent a few hours strolling the park property. The mansion next door was also part of the park and had a fun outdoor food service where we grabbed a cold beer and especially tasty bratwurst for lunch. The whole stay was simply enchanting.

Parking can be challenging. This park is open to the public and parking is along the roadsides within the park. You should anticipate food prices in the dining room to be in keeping with a castle environment.

The location was beautiful, the parking was easy and included in the price, the room was clean and comfortable. We had a free room upgrade which was thoughtful. The gardens around the Schloss were really pretty. There is an EV charge point, although it costs €4/hr which is very expensive.

Breakfast was far too expensive at €25pp. No tea or coffee facilities in the room. A wedding meant that we were unable to use the bar or restaurant, which was disappointing as it was a reason for booking (it would be nice to inform guests beforehand of these things). This (and the expensive breakfast/charging facilities) is the only reason it did not meet our expectations.

The hotel is in a suburb area, so it's very quiet. And the surroundings are beautiful with the castle and forests :) That's exactly the environment I wanted. The transportation is convenient, with tram 11, you can get to the city center in less than 30 mins.

I arrived on Sunday almost evening, so it was very hard to find anything open. It's good to notice the hotel has 2 categories of rooms. the ones in the castle are 4 stars and you pay more and the others in a small building close to the castle are 3 stars. So If you really want to live in the castle, choose the correct rooms.

EV charging station works the most complicated way possible. The personnel needs to manually start with PIN code and stop charging and you pay for the time, not for energy. Much better would be just authorize by card or just join some working charging network

Excellent breakfast but too expensive to my taste.Location was perfect to explore Dresden region, if you don't want to stay in a busy city.Rooms where comfy and clean, good bed.

very nice castle and surroundings

Is very nice but some details are a little bit strange. the Hotel is 4 stars superior but if they place you in the near rooms is 3 stars superior (but I guess prices are similar…). some details also in breakfast are not very special. But all is fine, is just details…

Everything was amazing! Wonderful castle, beautiful park and the territory, friendly staff, cleanliness and general comfort were above and beyond, view from the window! It’s a dream place!

Everything was perfect! Nothing to say

Easy access from Dresden by tram 11 with only a short walk from the stop. The walk up the driveway to the hotel was lovely with the Castle at the end of the road providing a welcoming view. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Magnificent views from the terrace.

Complementary coffee and tea station for guests would be nice.

The castle was very nice, with beautiful gardens and great view over Dresden and the Elbe. Breakfast was good and diner at restaurant in the garden was very good.

The room was actually not in the castle itself but in a modern building close by. Room was okay but not too big. There were also no measures against Covid, people did not have to wear masks, neither at breakfast buffet, which I do not consider acceptable.

Amazing accommodation in a castle. Breakfast was good with a wide variety of food. Staff was very nice.

Some of the power outlets only worked when the light were switched on and the soap is quite aggressive so it’s better to bring your own.
