Hotel Best Western La Mare O Poissons

I arrived after an 11 hour drive and just wanted to relax in a comfortable room. The hotel is 2 mins from the ferry check in. I was welcomed with a very friendly greeting and a big smile. The room was well decorated, modern clean with a very comfortable bed and great shower. I asked for a meal in my room which appeared in 10 minutes and was surprising good. Boeuf Bourginon and a chocolate mouse, both of which were delicious. Breakfast the following morning was a treat to behold. Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, cold ,meats, cheeses, pancakes and fresh croissants. plus plus. The best 15 euros ever! And a very friendly greeting at 6.30 in the morning! I will certainly stay again and would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Arriving late from an afternoon ferry from the UK, it was good to find a very quiet place. Staff were helpful without being intrusive. Great location for getting on to my onward journey. Decent sized rooms, tea and coffee making facilities welcome and not always common in France. Super clean.

It might have been nice to have had a little more in the late night snack department - but truthfully arriving somewhere in France at 10.00 at night is asking for trouble! Make sure you bring a sandwich!

Like the newly refurbished bathrooms Staff were welcoming friendly and flexible Location is perfect for getting off the evening or getting on the early morning ferry

Sadly the restaurant is closed so after a long days drive I had to venture in to downtown Ouisterham for dinner. Old restaurant was one of best in area but not a showstopper. Sadly there are now two which can be: You no longer do dogs and once a year we travel with ours but will now have to book elsewhere. You really could do with a couple of overnight chargers for electric cars essential before striking off inland.

The Staff!!- they were very accommodating- chap on reception was delightful!- so helpful. English/French spoken. Breakfast was great too!- the staff on breakfast were lovely, they kept everything topped up. Had reserved us a table and that made it all very easy! Beds were comfortable, clean fresh rooms, nice bedding. Very good clean bathroom with decent shower. Thank you!

Slight niggle was couldn’t use pool, the times of the swimming pool have been shortened. ( Totally understand, sensible rather than just keeping it heated for hours on end!) Just didn’t realise until after booking! We arrived later than first anticipated and we were just staying one night. The pool didn’t reopen until 2pm. Just one of those things! All looked lovely!

perfect stop for the evening before our return ferry. infact you could use it as a base to explore northern Brittany and be very happy.

we went to the restaurant to see if there was a table for 2 people. the lady in charge was very abrupt and said ‘no, finished’ when it had only just opened, there was hardly anyone in there and she quite obviously hadn’t, as when we returned to the hotel later ( after having a wonderful dinner in a local restaurant, ) there were the same amount of people in there and she was still open. I just thought that she could have been a little nicer and explained more.

Have stayed here a few times. Nice comfy hotel but sadly not right at the port. Makes parking easier though.

Food availability not good - only snacks. Has a brasserie but it is not owned by the hotel and is utterly dysfunctional. Not always open on the days it says it should be. Staff awful,rude, smelly and slow and the food is not as good as it pretends to be. Not the fault of the hotel who seem to be as unhappy as the clients and are now apparently trying to buy the restaurant to remove the current owner/chef. That being so the only option is to drive - albeit only 2 km - into town to get a meal which I do not always want to do having often driven for 7-8 hours already that day

No restaurant. A good selection and variety of breakfast food. Staff were very attentive during breakfast and refilled anything that was nearly empty. Cleaned room everyday was superb and any issue we had was dealt with quite quickly.

Bacon and Pancakes could have been heated but were still tasteful. Room could have been a bit bigger for the longer stay with an extra suitcase trestle. Only one bottle of water per day was nice but not enough for two people.

An excellent location when coming off the evening ferry - only a few minutes drive from the port and easy to find, with plenty of parking. The receptionist spoke good English. The room was very comfortable; no evening meal was available, but we knew that in advance and had eaten on the ferry. The buffet breakfast had everything we needed. It's a short walk into the town centre, which was attractive.

It's a shame the swimming pool wasn't open before we had to leave in the morning, but since it's just off the breakfast room I do understand why.

Staff very friendly and helpful. The building is modern and well maintained. Our room was spotlessly clean, towels changed daily. A very good selection of Continental breakfast.

The hotel was advertised as having a restaurant, one of the reasons that we booked it. Unfortunately for unknown reasons it was closed for the duration of our stay. This was a big disappointment as for personal reasons we only dine in the evening and generally do not wish to travel.

We have stayed here often over the years and there is always a warm welcome the staff are kind and helpful Comfortable rooms and excellent breakfast Unfortunately the restaurant is closed but the staff have good suggestions for places to eat
