Hotel Libera Caen Colombelles

We booked this stay as part of a multi-day tour of Normandy. The location of the hotel is actually great - about half-way between Point du Hoc and LeHavre (Deauville is much closer). We were greeted by a very friendly gentleman who even walked us to out room - thanks for that! The layout is actually unique. It's an array of temporary housing units converted to comfortable, spacious, well-equipped hotel rooms with mini balconies. Plenty of parking space too and chargers for electric vehicles. There was also a large supermarket within walking distance. Would probably come again when on the go!

Nothing comes to mind except maybe having a restaurant on site. Would have been great to have dinner there. Otherwise: It was short and sweet.

Arrived late from ferry, about 15 minutes drive to the hotel. Good amount of parking with EV chargers.....welcome and very friendly reception staff. The hotel site has an industrial vibe with motel style rooms. 24/7 reception is a plus due to location! The room was spacious and clean with good ensuite facility and tea/coffee if needed. The beds were a little on the firm side and the linen would benefit from being crisp white! But that's a personal opinion...but it was all clean and tidy. The bar was comfortable and open for late arrival drinks and pet friendly. The breakfast was all good!

I booked this hotel as an overnight stop before an early ferry crossing the following morning. It's 20 minutes from the ferry port. When we arrived it all looked a little strange like units in boxes but inside the room was clean and exactly as advertised and better quality than I expected. Kettle and tea and coffee in room was a bonus. As advertised there was a full size fridge, two electric cooking rings and a microwave and sink in a small kitchenette area. There was only a small frying pan but plates, bowls, mugs and cutlery for three. With a supermarket next door this gives you some options (although there isn't room for 3 people to sit anywhere to eat) but we headed to Buffalo Grill, 10 minutes drive away. The onsite restaurant was closed at weekends at the time we stayed. We did not have breakfast as were catching early ferry. The layout is compact but clever. The double bed is in an area that looks just like a hotel room, the single bed is around the corner as you walk to the bathroom. There is lots of storage and the bathroom is modern.

It wasn't an issue but just be aware that the names of roads you are given to find the hotel might not work on your sat nav but you will easily find the hotel using your phone.

Hotel is quirky in a really good way. The main reception / restaurant reminded us of a conservative garden room, and felt open and contemporary. Rooms were great for a budget hotel, clean and well equipped. Bathroom has great shower and very clean. Staff were really helpful and relaxed. Would definitely recommend as a stop over with or without kids! 👍🏼

The hotel is located within a small housing development and when arriving at night it can appear ‘concerning’. However when you review during daylight it’s fine.

Fabulous. Loved the place. Large comfortable room. Spotlessly clean. Great bathroom and facilities. Tasty breakfast with lots of choice, all fresh. On site parking. Helpful friendly staff. Loved all modern style of hotel, different but it certainly works! Short drive to fantastic Caen and it's restaurants and sites. Would most definitely stay again!

Nothing. Shame restaurant not open for dinner but we knew that when booking and at least we then sampled fantastic ones on Caen.

Very refreshing. Simple but very comfortable. Large Queen size bed, not worn down. Breakfast gave many choice from eggs, croissants, cereals and expresso. It was a Heritage days in France the weekend we were there and many businesses were closed. We did not have a chance to sample lunch or dinner. Luckily there was a grocery store within a block from hotel. We rented a car from train station, which made it a convenient place to stay. I would highly recommend this place.

Not a thing.

The rooms are clean and large, free parking, the location is excellent, the breakfast is excellent (the only thing missing is vegetables and it's perfect) the service is excellent! The guy at the reception went out of his way to help me with a charging solution for the electric car, well done for the amazing service! It is highly recommended .

I have stayed in numerous hotels for 1 night stopovers to and from the ferry to caen and this hotel is bar far the best we've stayed in! It's spotless, airy, the bed is extremely comfortable, the staff are friendly and courteous and breakfast was excellent! Where else in France are you offered scrambled eggs, bacon and beans as part of your breakfast! Liked it so much we have booked for our return stopover before catching the ferry.

Nothing not to like

Rooms were of good size, clean and comfy beds. Safe parking for group of motorcycles. Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Food was really good and great value.

Restaurant food wasn’t available for two of our four nights which was a shame, other than no issues at all.

Room very comfortable, breakfast good and caters for those with gluten intolerance.

For those of us who have always been used to wooden shutters and curtains, I did not realize there was an electric shutter, so I slept in the back room! It would have been useful to have a note on the table about this contraption.
