Hotel The Originals du Grand Monarque Nantes Gare

The Hotel is lovely, quirky, and answered our purpose beautifully. My daughter and I came for a weekend stay to explore the area. Train Station, But to the airport, city center - everything is very close to it. We stayed for 3 nights, the room was spacious, was cleaned every day, the bed is comfortable. Botanical garden 2 min away, other main attractions within walking distance. There was a little train on the square in front of Peter and Paul cathedral, which was taking you around the center and main city sights. We had very late arrival due to our flight been delayed, around 23.30, the gentleman at the reception waited for us and gave us detailed instructions about everything we needed. Thank you very much for that. We didn't order breakfast, but I had a look at it out of interest and it was decent, rolls, jam, fruit, coffee. View was beautiful, we were on the 3d floor. We were there only for sleep, it provided us good base. Quite happy with that.

The smell. It was mentioned in other reviews. I think it was coming from the toilet. We made sure that the bathroom door was shut. It was also stuffy, but luckily it wasn't hot outside, so we were able to sleep with the windows shut. It would be impossible to sleep with the windows opened though as our room faced main road and was noisy till late. Those two issues didn't spoiled out holiday. For 2 stars hotel did really good

The staff were lovely. Very helpful and even stayed on late so we could check in after 11pm as we had trouble with our trains. Very clean. Good size room and comfortable bed. It was an easy 10 minute walk from the station and about the same distance from the cathedral and shops in the centre of town. We found the location excellent.

The street that the hotel is in very lively, so to cut down the noise we were given a room on the 4th floor. There is no lift and it was a long way up the stairs, although the gentleman on reception did offer to carry our cases. As it was hot we had the window open, our choice, there was a fan, so it was still very noisy. I would stay here again without hesitation but would ask for a room on the first floor as the climb up the stairs bothered me more than the noise.

Lots of night life nearby and local attractions. There is a little walk into the actual centre. The hotel is clean, comfortable and the staff are very friendly.

The parking situation isn't the best, appears to be three spaces but hard to book and the public parking is a walk and quite expensive. So it is best for foot travellers. One other thing the drains in the building were kicking out one hell of a smell during my stay. I don't know if that is a common thing at this hotel or not. One assumes not. I just left the extraction on and kept the bathroom door shut.

Not far from the train station and a short walk to central city. The guy working at the front desk was very helpful. Kindly helped with my luggage and was always friendly.

On my arrival there was no one at the front desk. A sign said someone would be there soon. Waited for 20minutes - during that time tried ringing and knocking with no effect. Finally a women showed up and was very rude. No elevator so can be a bit difficult with luggage.

Good location clean hotel Clean City with Very good transport links. Some very good bars and restaurants nearby.

Rooms in hotel could be upgraded to have Tea and Coffee facilities and better toiletries such as soap shower gel in bathroom.

I have booked this place on my recent trip to Hellfest, so basically, I have just left my luggage and did a check in, came back very late for sleep over and left very early in the morning. The place is very clean, bathroom was spotless which is very important, bed is very comfortable. I recommend this place for your stay in Nantes.

Good location for Jardin des plantes, short walk to SNCF, cathedral, castle and city centre. Good selection of local bars, restaurants and shops on Rue Marechal Joffre which is pedestrianised on weekend evenings and very popular. Noise from street until late at night on weekend. Steep windy stairs could be a problem for some.

Very helpfull staff and very friendly. I asked if I could leave the bags after checking out if my travelplans were delayed and that was not a problem. Great service. The bed was comfy, the sheets clean and the shower nice and strong. The hotel is only five minutes walking from the station. All in all I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I was woken up several times in the night by the neighbours in the hotel. So maybe the walls are too thin or the neighbours too loud. But all in all this was the only thing that bothered me. And in the end I did sleep well.

The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The location is excellent. There is no air conditioning but a fan is provided. Although I was on a street room, I had no problems with noise due to the double windows.

The WiFi did not work well for me at all.

A good location, friendly welcoming reception, good breakfast.

Having a lift would be a plus, I forgot on this occasion to look beforehand. although it wasn't a problem as the reception automatically carried my suitcase up to the room. Also, I did request to have a kettle for tea/coffee in the room, I'm not sure if my request was denied or forgotten, I did not re-enquire. I would still stay there again.
